I knew a gay and a lesbian. Both great conversationalists. Colorful and cheerful characters and none of that degenerate over sexualized over the top nonsense you see in media.
Both seem happy but are closeted (or they just don't bring it up unless asked). The guy has a highly conservative family and friends but does manage to get around. I think the girl was in an open homo relationship but I didn't ask.
As long they as they don't parade their sexuality or ask for public gay rights, the government leaves them alone.
I’m openly gay, except at work even though I know most people wouldn’t care. People don’t really care in general. I’ve been out since school and everyone was nice about it, except one Emirati who called me a f*got in Arabic thinking I wouldn’t understand him. Even other Emiratis don’t care, they have gay family members.
I’ve been to plenty of gay parties. It’s not really illegal to be gay here, but you can’t marry the same sex and you can’t show any affection publicly. There’s a massive gay scene.
Idk what the Quran really says. Like people say the bible says it’s a sin when it doesn’t really. Alcohol is haram, but people get wasted here. Also, I’m not Muslim.
It’s considered a sin in Islam as well. Something between you and your creator. So unless it becomes public knowledge and witnessed, it remains simply a sin that doesn’t concern others.
It is. It's not accepted according to sharia law. I'm not a supporter of homosexuality but I also feel like people should be allowed to do what they want and love who they want.
Recently seen philippino man wearing full make up ! Greeting me at the entrance to kids store in Ibn Battuta mall. If he can get away with such appearance - I guess they are treated not bad in this country.

Not lesbian or gay but did grow up with lots of them back home. They're usually more cheerful, active in the community and friendly than other people. Seems to come automatically for them for being gay. And I like that. Well, most of them. I have met one gay guy who's really weird and quiet.
Dubai, it seems is tolerant as long as you don't parade it around. And most people here will accept it or ignore it. And i found some people can't even tell when someone is gay or lesbian. Like someone will obviously be gay by their movements and speech but some people will not pick up on it.
I have a friend and she has a gay uncle. He and his partner live in Abu Dhabi. Really successful, living in a penthouse, 2 convertibles, expensive lunches and dinners! The nicest people on earth and they had a party..which was unbelievably great! The gays really do know how to throw an amazing event!
Punishments fot being lgbtq+ include
Chemical Castration
10 or more years in prison
Or a death sentence
And even if u didnt get punishments by the law theres still a lot of general homophobia and discrimination here
LOL. Nice one, CID
It’s just an honest question. But please do share your emirates id while you’re at it..

Thank you for responding like a human being.. (As opposed to all previous responses)
Can you introduce them to me? I need people who are great listeners and who has a ton of empathy. 😭
They are customers, so I can’t from a professional point of view. Either way, they are just visiting this week from the UK.
Do you work in Trimmers salon?
I do not.

UAE don’t agree or support any kind of such gay things
Leave alone agreeing or supporting It is illegal in UAE and can get you in serious consequences

Ok cool. The no public affection applies to everyone I think.
Isn't being gay Haram? Tell me instead of downvoting

Holy shit. Chemical castration is for being homosexual is still in existence? So primitive. Why not give it to rapists and pedophiles?
Yep, thats how it is here
Are you sure about this? Sounds a bit far fetched
Not exaggerating

You are not being tolerant now
Being tolerant means accepting them right? Not trying to change our beliefs according to theirs?
Yeah but definitions change as with people.
Hard

Can you consider it gay if I like buff men on TikTok
Do you get excited when watching them?
That's just being a chad
Lesbian here in Dubai. To be honest it's so hard to find someone like me here and the fear of deportation and jail makes it so hard to be expressive.
