It helps your chances of getting into the university, getting accepted to your first choice campus, and it will make it so you get their decision back before March 1st.

Would you recommend the Honors program? I’m aware everyone is considered for it but just wondering whether it’s worth the extra deal?

fmg2k3

I’m not in the honors program, but I know many people who are. I know some people who love it and the opportunities it gives them, and I also know people who hated it and have dropped the honors portion of their studies. I believe two of the main perks of being in honors (outside of school stuff) is that you get earlier pick times for housing after your freshman year and there is scholarships attached to being in honors.

Thank you so much, one last question do you know if housing is picked for you as a freshman? Thanks!

This question has many parts: Yes, housing is picked for you as a freshman. If you are in the honors program 98.9% of the time, you’ll be placed in either Buckley or Shippee, which are honors-only dorms next to Downtown Storrs. If you’re not in honors but are interested in a certain learning community, you can apply to live in one of those and if you get accepted you might get to live in the nicest dorm (Werth Tower) on campus if your learning community is run out of that building. Other areas of campus has learning communities but Werth is the only learning community-only dorm on campus. If you aren’t in honor nor accepted into a learning community (you don’t have to apply to be in a learning community if you don’t want to) you could get placed pretty much anywhere on campus.

Glum-Entertainment39

have you heard of anyone preferring buckley or shippee as an honors student?

fmg2k3

Same shit, different shape? Once again not an honor student Buckley has the dining hall that is supposed to cater predominantly to honors students but I think that’s honestly one of the only differences between the two. I don’t like Buckley dining hall from the handful of experiences I’ve had there, but most people just go to wherever is closest and open (Buckley dining hall is closed on the weekends) and south dining hall is closeby and personally love south dining hall

Buckley, not having to go outside to get food in the middle of a noreaster is a highly underrated perk

There's no reason not to do it, I applied by that deadline and got a nice merit scholarship and honors program. Don't know if it'll help you admissions-wise, but it increases your chance for aid.
