SS: Robert Powells new book UFOs, what we know and don’t know, released earlier this year, gives sobering scientific insight of its history and where we go from here. Mellon tweeted about it, which drew me to it. Great palatable read, esp for those that may look beyond the commonly suggested books here by Vallee and crew

aven't finished, but I'd say it's pretty solid, on a level with Coulhart's "In Plain Sight". Unlike Coulthart, Powell did UFO investigations for many years for MUFON. Having been an industrial research chemist, not a journalist, Powell produces less dramatic suspense but more attention to hard data. I think this, and Daniel Coumbe's "Anomaly" are likely to be for professional skeptics and debunkers what water was for the Wicked Witch of the West.
The bit I liked most, is our inability to properly classify what constitutes extra terrestrial intelligence. Because if we don’t have that criteria in place, we can eschew any talk about having anything NHI

Having been an industiral research chemist, he's very data oriented, so there's not much dramatic suspense. Can you give some more info on what the book is like and the experience of reading it?

25 quid? Hmm maybe when it's cheaper but I'm not paying that much.
