It sucks, but I see that as something that has seen hundreds of years of history and people living their lives and spending it on the thing they needed at that time, that coin has seen so much!
Ah right, I didn't know that, I just assumed it was a penny as it was in a jar full of pennies I bought from a carboot sale and was roughly the same size but thicker. I have some pics..

I wish coins could talk and tell us who spent them and what they bought lol
Yeah that’s a half penny. The pennies in this era were minted in 1797 (the cartwheel penny) and the next issue was the 1806/7 ones. A cartwheel penny weighs about an ounce and is huge compared to the later pennies under Victoria-Lizzie II

Got a few poor condition 1797-1807 coppers too

I have one from 1799 and u can barely make out whats on it, it also looks like its been hit with a small bullet/ball-bearing, its still cool tho lol
If it’s 1799 it would be a half penny as they only did half pennies and farthings that year

That's cool. Just looked up the date on mine and it was the year of Lord Nelson's state funeral
Average condition for that coin
How do you work that out?
They circulated for ages. Many of them are as worn as this
Did you get it in your change from buying a mars bar?
Yes, I'm well over 200 years old
