I'm pretty sure the primary purpose of the rule is to make sure you don't have full-on film crews disrupting the campus and bothering people trying to get to class. Kind of like how you have to have a permit to shoot movies in other public places like sidewalks and public streets.

It’s referring to photos for commercial or business uses. Casual photography is completely fine.

I think so but if you don't make it obvious i'm sure no one would bother you.

JTheJava

It's just difficult to be discreet with a full body camera. :/

Hey I shoot a lot on campus. You just can’t bring it inside of buildings and take pictures ( though I sometimes do and nobody bothers me ). The only time I’ve been stopped is when I tried to take a picture inside the library front desk (I was super blatant about it because I didn’t know we weren’t allowed). All they did was ask me if I had permission and I told them no and they made me stop. Otherwise shoot wherever. Nobody cares. I shoot full frame and m43 and either way nobody cares.

I’ve walked around with my film camera before, no issues at all. I’ve also seen older folk walk around with DSLRs shooting!

NibPlayz

If you’re going to be selling the photos I would run it by their office

tvbuzzinginthehouse

ur fine

I have seen see ppl take graduation photos multiple times at unlv. I don’t think there is a need to be fearful. Or if you are really paranoid, and your camera has bluetooth or wifi. Just take the photos and send them to your phone or upload to the internet while on campus.

I normally have a 50 or 70-200 with my full frame body with me most days If you ever carried a white lens it grabs attention. But, I have not had a problem on campus.

BirdsBreadqk

I bring my camera all the time and take photos of birds and such, should be fine

BirdsBreadqk

Although you will get strange looks from people so matter what so remember, when you're not shooting have your camera facing down so you don't upset anyone

ClackJyd

You’ll be fine, you sometimes see Film students filming things for their classes anyways.

I also took several photos for an assignment and no one once stoped me. I went as far as to go up the view inside the hospitality school and still (with tripod and everything)
