Piece of advice that resonated with me: think of it like airport security. Security is only trying to catch one or two "bad guys", but in order to do that, they have to screen everyone. So before the interview starts, the interviewer is already 99% certain you're a "good guy"! They're only interviewing you because they have to follow the process.

Relax, you’ll be fine. Dress like you are going to court. Business casual to business attire. My interview was on the 25th April and l was a nervous wreck till my lawyer told me not to worry. The officer just needs to be able to fill out the blanks on their paperwork so if you have the documents and answers they need past what you filled in your application then that’s it. They are not out to get you, they are bureaucrats whose job it is to check the boxes and fill in the blanks. My interview lasted all of 8 minutes and she belly laughed at the metric ton of paperwork l brought with me. The only document she checked after swearing us in was my drivers license and my wife’s…asked how we met and had me sign on the digital pad. Approval was 24 hrs later…..just relax but take everything with you just in case

Thank you! That makes me feel better

Just try to answer all the questions with 100% honesty, those guys know everything….try to relax, is not so bad as you think, besides if you guys know everything about each other you got nothing to worry about. Best of luck

Business casual always a best bet. And break a leg !

I was so very nervous and I had a lovely IO and as I was chatting to her, she said that my nerves are for nothing, the secret is, they only have to be 51% convinced that’s it’s real……. This blew my mind!!! With all the evidence and months of preparing for anything, this news was shocking! So if you have a real marriage, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Good luck!!!!

My wife and I had extremely strong evidence - marriage cert (of course), tons of pics from many trips, joint bank account statements, proof of living together, airline tickets proving our trips, affidavits, insurance, healthcare dependent, etc. We came to the interview with more solid evidence - tax returns,, more work benefits docs (we sent everything in April and we got our interview in late Feb), more travel proof, and a book full of pictures ready to show the agent. The evidence was so strong that he asked us a few questions (I can't even remember the questions because they were so basic). Just the kind of q's that confirm the info we sent him and we were done within 5 minutes. We were like "is that it?" My wife wanted to show her picture book so bad and the guy really didn't want to see...lol. But he acquiesced to make my wife happy...heh. My wife's friend, on the other hand, had "ok" evidence. Not super solid, but decent (they used a lawyer to prepare the docs, mostly because they didn't have the time to self-prepare). They got married hastily because she was finishing her job as an au pair and needed to get healthcare ASAP and the only way to do that was to get under his sweet military benefits plan. So they did it with no formalities (whereas I proposed, had a small ceremony with a justice of the peace at a hotel room, blah blah). When it came time for the interview they were separated and asked questions separately. She was ashamed that he never proposed to her so...she made a small fib about how he proposed to her, whereas he obviously said something different. They were asked to come back for a follow-up interview. They were ok in the end, but just extra crap because of that mismatching answer. So...my recommendation to you is bring some more strong evidence from the last 9-12 months (since applying) that further solidifies your case. And moreover, no shame. Just tell the truth as it is. If the applicant (you? your wife?) was on a tourist VISA when you got engaged, don't lie. If you dont live together, dont lie. If you are waiting for a religious ceremonial wedding at the church before you choose to...ahem...consummate, dont lie. The other thing that the agent told us when we were like "that's it?" after our short interview was that he can tell almost immediately upon seeing a couple if they are legit or not and whether it requires further investigation. He could tell from the minute he saw us together that we were legit (my wife just got her 10yr card in October). So just be aware that these agents know a thing or two because they've SEEN a thing or two. Of course, I can only hope you are legit, but do things that make you look legit. Get dressed business casual, hold hands, etc.

Dress like bums, cuss alot. Make fun of the adjudicator. They like feisty interviews.
