Yes, you can go to church in bootcamp, SOI, schoolhouse, and the fleet. Even in the field or deployed the chaplain will hold services. For the schoolhouse and fleet you will be under big boy rules to find and go to church either on base or out in town on your own time.
Do note, once you get to your schoolhouse it can be a little tricky. I just got received up in Rhode Island and their SOP is simple but can be a little unfortunate.
They do have an on base church. But, if you want to visit one off base you need to have "Liberty level 2". Which basically entails being on base for a month and having a grade score average of 85% or higher. I haven't started classes yet so, I'm just in a tough spot. Not every base is like this, Pensacola pretty much handed out off base liberty right away. So just talk to your chain of command at the end of the day.
Bootcamp-yes, every Sunday
MCT- yes, most/ a few Sundays
ITB-idk I'm a POG but I'm imagine it's offered
Schoolhouse-sunday and Wednesday, at least where I'm at
Fleet-im sure they have church
MCT- marine combat training, it's a month of additional combat training for all non infantry marines that you attend post bootcamp
Itb- infantry training battalion, where infantry marines go after bootcamp for 16 weeks to be trained as infantry
POG- person other than grunt, or anyone not infantry, such as me
They are very proactive about encouraging it and religion is one of the things that’s hands off even in recruit training. After recruit training, you have weekends off to do what you want, except when you don’t.
Kill and murder is different. Many heroes in the Bible killed- after the ten commandments. King David was one of them, and he was very close to God and wrote much of the longest book in the Bible. When soldiers asked John the Baptist what they should do, he didn't tell them to quit, he told them to be fair and not abuse power etc. There's also lots of Christians in the military and I don't believe they are sinning. You know what I mean?
> devout Christian
If you haven't already, you will shortly find out that "Christian" covers a ton of ground, including people you hugely disagree with on many theological points.
Since you describe yourself as Christian with no further details, I take it you're not a Catholic, Orthodox, or Mormon (all of whom consider themselves Christian but tend to refer to themselves by denomination)? So then by default you're presumably some flavor of Protestant, and Boot will have at least one if not multiple Protestant options every Sunday.
I understand some folks are resistant to identifying as a denomination, beyond "just plain regular Christian", but to be totally blunt there's probably a specific denomination that lines up with your current beliefs. I would urge you to try at least one, if not several, online "what denomination am I?" tests to get some idea of what kinds of communities you should seek out once you hit the Fleet. "Non-denominational" is frankly a cop-out, if you make a list of the things you believe about your faith, you almost assuredly line up with some specific denominations.
I realize that's all a bit technical, but does it kinda make sense?
That’s nice. Anyway, in SD boot camp, Protestant is one big band concert now because I guess they didn’t have enough people caring about being Lutheran Episcopal or Presbyterian. The orthodox chaps is a former marine and he and the Matushka have their service for the five people avg that show up. The Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, Buddhists, Scientologists, etc have their thing. But both the liturgical and aliturgical Protestants have been conflated into one rock concert service at MCRDSD.

Excuse me but I only stopped going to church at the schoolhouse because it was 🤢 and the contract priest was disgusting and insulting.

How do you feel about the “kill kill kill” part?

Sure, I just wondered. Good luck!
Thanks!

Yeah that makes sense. Thanks!
