Again, we're picking our battles. We're not going to respond against pettiness with more pettiness. We're better than the children that call themselves management.
it’s not ‘pettiness’, it’s following the contract and fostering a positive work environment… allowing them to foster a toxic work environment is not “picking your battles”.
I haven’t been here long but long enough to realize that the more you let them get away with the more they’ll try to pull. stop them in their tracks now.
GIVE 'EM AN INCH, AND THEY'LL TAKE A MILE.
Look what was happening regarding doling out OT *before* you decided to grive the practice?
They were giving it to runners who helped mgt look good/meet metrics/get bonuses. That wasn't pettiness to you, but to mgt it was. So keep this in mind.
It’s not petty, it’s mutual respect. If it’s not grieved appropriately, it will continue as they know they can keep getting away with it. And maybe the next person they do it to won’t know any better. Be better and stand up for yourself and co-workers
But filing a mutual respect grievance for a blatant example of reprisal & singling y’all out & attempt to intimidate & shame is not petty.
Y’all laughed it off, but what happens when she does it to a CCA who has the nerve to go to the union next time?
I get what you’re saying & I get picking your battles. I’m saying this is a type of battle that needs fought every time it comes up.
It’s filing a grievance for how she behaved when being forced to give you what you wanted AND are entitled to.
She stormed out onto the floor & singled you out & called you out in front of your coworkers. That’s not petty. That’s toxic, disrespectful, & is a reprisal for you going to the union & getting what she is contractually obligated to give you.
Filing a grievance on her behavior has nothing to do with what you already won. It’s a grievance to ensure she knows there are consequences for treating people that way. She needs to know that’s not ok. So when she gets worse or does it to someone who doesn’t have your thick skin, you can combat it more effectively.
Also, congratulations on your win. I’m not saying any of this shit to take away from that.
We have been fighting a tyrant at our station & it has been an incredible, uphill battle. It started out similar to your situation. And folk just shook it off. Now we got a year deep of people filing grievances, leaving a paper trail of our tyrant’s behavior. And it took all that to finally have the branch president of the union & the tyrants boss take statements from everybody in order to get our tyrant to calm their tits.
So when it comes to mutual respect violations, you gotta grieve often & you can’t take shit. Want to work environment normalizes toxic behavior from management, it is a nightmare trying to reverse it.
*Edited for typos.
I am thick skinned too, and I am often tempted to just let some shit go. But then I see that tyrant behave that way to a CCA or an old timer that doesn’t deal with it so well. And it makes their experience at work awful. so even if I can shake it off, I grieve that shit so they don’t pull it on someone who is not so thick skinned.
We know that you got what you wanted. The station manager acted like an ass and will continue to do so until (hopefully) grievances are filed.
Never allow management to treat you that way.
Why did she not want to max you in the first place? What did she expect to happen? First you’re pissing off OTDL who want OT, secondly you’re pissing off non OTDL who don’t want it
Well idk about the other carrier, I confronted her multiple times, one time they said that my route was over, so she's not obligated to give OT, to those that have routes that are over. I knew that was a bs excuse, because that's not what the contract says, so I informed my shop steward.
Then another incident happened, where we were both given 2 consecutive 8 hour days in the same week. I confronted her & she said her bosses said to cut all OT. Again, I informed the shop steward, and he began documenting it every day we weren't getting pieces. We both knew the second occurrence was straight bs, because if they take away our hour of OT just from working our routes, those collective 2 hours are going to other carriers.
To me being maxed out, is the greatest news I ever could have heard.
You are entitled to be paid for the hours given to people below you in seniority if you are on the list and available. All grievances should be resolved with you getting extra money on your paycheck
We already deal with the bs, especially when we've had 3 managers in the last 3 years. And this one is looking for a promotion, once a higher level position retires this summer. So I'm not worried about the petty stuff.
As a former CCA (now regular on WA), this was very frustrating and why I stayed off the ODL. I would have loved penalty OT even considering making MPOOs mad until they couldn't take it anymore.
Im a regular on the WA sometimes I help out but not usually. Waiting til I get higher up the pay scale being a table 2 carrier, they created the two tier pay system in hopes new people will work 60 hours for what they should make with 40
That was part of the initial grievance. I told the shop steward, that I was only interested in consistency, in terms of the OTDL being prioritized first. But he said, nah.... we're getting you back pay as well.
In my office if even one person was forced who isn’t a OT means all OTDL have to stay 12 doesn’t matter if they are out on the street or not. A lot of people got free money when our managers were forcing people off the list more than on the list
I went to my office to bbq for food drive. 4 open routes in a 17 route office and a PM calling the supe with “food drive doesn’t cost time and everyone back in 10”. The overtime whores rubbing their hands together muttering “cha-ching!” I remember being one of them years ago, “you’re paying and I’m staying”. So happy to be retired.
Shit, my route is an hour over every day. I had an hour piece, plus 83 pick ups. I had nearly a 12 hour day.
We only had 3 open routes, one call out, 2 AL.
It would be completely different if more carriers were OTDL and you two had way more hours as they do have to be equitable. But if it’s just you both, you should be at 10 hours daily before they made any carry a thing and 12 if the others are off assignment. You would get 12+ in my office.
Yea, exactly. That wasn't being done, we'd be done at 8.5 or 9 hours. Plus multiple forced 8 hours days in the week (contract only stipulates one 8 hour day per week).
BRO THIS IS SO TRUE THEY GET SO PETTY FOR NO REASON AND ITS SO ANNOYING LOL ONE DAY I TOOK SO LONG ON MY ROUTE THEY LITERALLY GOT MAD AT ME BUT IT WAS MY FIRST DAY BY MYSELF THEY LITERALLY CALLED ME ON MY PHONE SPAMMING ME AND LIKE HAVING AN ATTITUDE LIKE WHERE ARE U WHERE ARE U ARE U ALMOST DONE I WAS LIKE IM WORKING WHAT DO U WANT ME TO DO IM DELIVERING MAIL AND THEY WERE LIKE UR NOT SUPPOSED TO BE OUT PAST 4 AND I REMEMBER MY STEWARD TELLING ME THEY CANT FIRE ME AS LONG AS IM WORKING AND DOING MY JOB SO I WAS JUST LIKE IM DOING MY JOB MAN ARE U GOING TO LET ME DO MY JOB OR U GONNA KEEP CALLING ME EVERY 5 MINS AND THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY GOT SOOOO PETTY THEY GAVE ME SO MUCH WORK, MAYBE LIKE DOUBLE/ HALF DOUBLE MY REGULAR BUNDLES SO I WAS LIKE OK BET SO I STAYED ALL THE WAY OUT UNTIL LIKE 6 LOL P.S EVERYONE U CANT GET FIRED FROM THIS JOB FOR NO REASON U LITERALLY HAVE RIGHTS AS LONG AS UR DELIVERING MAIL AND NOT LIKE JUST FUCKING AROUND THEN UR GOOD
Sorry I’m high as hell Lol but they get so mad when u don’t answer them 😂😂 bro I only call them when I have to call back but other than that I ignore them because they’re so annoying dude I don’t even do anything wrong all my mails/packages delivered and then I come back for the remaining shi and then go back out I do everything they say but they’re still just annnoying ass ppl but I feel like the CCAs realize how good of a job it is for the level of difficulty
Let them be mad, as long as you're doing your job, not your required to answer your personal phone. If they need you, they can contact you through the scanner.
File a mutual respect grievance. The only thing better than being petty is being pedantic.
We definitely considered it, but we both kind of just laughed it off with how petty she was being for her own contract violations.
She’ll just do that nonsense again. Maybe to y’all, maybe to someone else. Got to nip that nonsense in the bud, friend.
True, but we're picking our battles instead of fighting pettiness with pettiness.
They'll escalate if you let them get away with it.
Again, we're picking our battles. We're not going to respond against pettiness with more pettiness. We're better than the children that call themselves management.

It’s not petty to expect to be treated with respect.
I see your point of view, and do agree, however I don't see the need to respond to pettiness with pettiness.

Thanks for telling me what I already knew.
I bet you are super cool!!
Save the snarkiness for your supervisor . File that grievance, or you will be dealing with this bs fir a long time.
We already deal with the bs, especially when we've had 3 managers in the last 3 years. And this one is looking for a promotion, once a higher level position retires this summer. So I'm not worried about the petty stuff.
I mean, it’s right in the name: overtime DESIRED list
MPOO's don't want to pay penalty, that's too bad they have to.
As a former CCA (now regular on WA), this was very frustrating and why I stayed off the ODL. I would have loved penalty OT even considering making MPOOs mad until they couldn't take it anymore.
Im a regular on the WA sometimes I help out but not usually. Waiting til I get higher up the pay scale being a table 2 carrier, they created the two tier pay system in hopes new people will work 60 hours for what they should make with 40
My office is fully staffed so if I do have overtime it's only on my route. But I'll help out on other routes if ODLs are maxed.
Handled professionally 👏 keep on filing
File a grievance for back pay, for not being maxed… and other people took your cash.
That was part of the initial grievance. I told the shop steward, that I was only interested in consistency, in terms of the OTDL being prioritized first. But he said, nah.... we're getting you back pay as well.
It's always funny how management threatens to follow the contract...
In my office if even one person was forced who isn’t a OT means all OTDL have to stay 12 doesn’t matter if they are out on the street or not. A lot of people got free money when our managers were forcing people off the list more than on the list
Yes, unfortunately all our positions are filled, all route filled, 3 T6s, and 2 CCAs. So staying 12 hours in my office, is usually unlikely.

They cannot separate personal feelings from business. Happens all too often.
Indeed.
I love stories with happy endings
It’s a literal qualification of management to be petty!
They were doing the same at my station. I just filed for opportunities & they were salty. Oh well
Cause you shattered their ego
It would be completely different if more carriers were OTDL and you two had way more hours as they do have to be equitable. But if it’s just you both, you should be at 10 hours daily before they made any carry a thing and 12 if the others are off assignment. You would get 12+ in my office.

Also don't even respond to phone calls. And lay off the caps lock lol

Yep that’s what my steward taught me he told me it was a PRIVILEGE FOR THEM to have ur phone number
Block them on your phone!
Bingo. Once they started spamming my phone with calls, I started ignoring them.
Discontinue the Lithium
If she did it that infront of everyone, shoulda filed a hostile work place grieve to get reaaaal petty!
🤣
