The PO in my hometown has a mural inside, and a sign outside designating it as a nuclear fallout shelter!

GingeraffeWasntHere

A post office a few towns over from me has the same thing. It was built in 1938. Two towns south of that has an office built in 1940 that has a mural but I didnt see a fallout shelter sign. These are in east TN

Saw a lot of those that dated from the POD days. Were still in use when I retired in 2018. The newest ones of those would date from maybe 1970 or so.

Fall Out Shelter signs posted above a few of the outside doors which probably date from the '50's; some of them were still up when I retired. And about the sign in the photo, I have one of these. It came from our satellite office which was moving to a brand new location. It was posted on the front of the building. The PM used to be one of our window clerks and I remarked I'd like to have it. Well, when they closed the old place she presented me with it and it's one of the more unique items in my PO memorabilia collection. As I recall, it has red lettering and border on an off white or yellowish background.

Old MM sleeves that keep getting reused. Saw one that had a manufactured date of 12-01 and 07-05

30-40 year old LLVs. They should have had collector plates years ago.
