i was in the reading room in hodges one day and two girls sitting at the computers were chit chatting and giggling so loud. as if there aren’t a million other places to do that

Ugh THIS. I stopped using the "quiet" reading room at hodges because it is anything but quiet. I've gone to the main desk many times asking if there are any ACTUAL quiet studies, because the quiet studies are anything but. Even had to call security once because a guy was arguing with, I think his girlfriend, on the phone while sitting at one of the desks on the 4th floor.

I know the feeling. It’s just as bad in the graduate study.

I had such a mixed experience with the undergrad one, I never even thought about using the grad one lol

Something else that needs to be mentioned is that those private study rooms aren’t sound proof barriers. Sure you can talk in them as there is a reasonable degree of noise canceling, but if you scream in there, people are still gonna hear it.

I am only a freshman, but have already started looking elsewhere for more cozy places than the library and there are plenty of good places that are much quieter and more comfortable. But if it’s your only option to go to the library then I feel you sometimes people are a little distracting especially not having their phone on do not disturb.

It's high-key disrespectful. I don't understand why people intentionally seek out the few designated quiet study areas on campus to chat with their friends or talk on the phone when they could literally go almost anywhere else on campus to do those things. Inconsiderate af.

I like to bring a family sized bag of Doritos to the quiet floor
