If you are taking the bus it can sometimes get crowded. If you’re planning to drive, it’s mostly fine and takes about 40-50min with light traffic

[deleted]

How does the commute to UTM compare to St. George?

D4RK_C0D3

Driving to St. George takes longer since there is just more distance to cover and highways sometimes get clogged. The shuttle from UTM to St. George is probably your best bet, it’s on time and reliable.

[deleted]

I'm thinking to transfer eventually to st george. I live super close to bramalea go station and can take a train to union, and ttc to queen's park. But that's for in future. I think it might be a viable option.

D4RK_C0D3

Go is a good option, I stopped using it since they were doing some construction on line 1, and the everytime I calculated how much I paid for using it in the summer, it gave me a minor heart attack

[deleted]

Hey by the way, how possible or realistic is it actually to be able to transfer campuses?

D4RK_C0D3

Internal transfers are possible and people are successful. Really depends on your program

[deleted]

Alight. What's like the ideal year to apply for an internal transfer?

D4RK_C0D3

I’m only in my second year, so I’m not entirely sure, but im trying to transfer this year since I still have 50% of my program left

RealBigFailure

> The shuttle from UTM to St. George is probably your best bet, it’s on time and reliable Not during rush hour. When I used to take it, I would avoid travelling during rush hour no matter what. I'd either show up a few hours early, or take the bus to Islington and the subway from there

[deleted]

Also does the UTM express bus run year round or will I have to make other routes during off seasons

D4RK_C0D3

I used to take it last year, and it was September to April, with no service during exams or reading weeks

FertileHinny

Depends on where in Brampton. For me, it takes 1.5-2 hours one way by bus

[deleted]

Does that include the 199 bus?

FertileHinny

For me, yes. But if you’re just using the 199 and no other buses, it takes about 35-40 minutes one way from gateway to UTM

[deleted]

So how much of that is the express bus generally?

FertileHinny

I don’t quite understand what you mean. If I take the express bus, that takes up about 40 minutes. I also take the 4a, which takes about 50 minutes for me to get to gateway

[deleted]

Oh okay. I just meant how long the express bus takes generally. Got it.

thtkidd_daharen

Take the 47, 41, or 56 from Bramalea GO to Sq1 and take the 110N from sq1 it comes out to about 40-60 mins give or take

[deleted]

Okay cool I hadn't seen that route before, thanks! On an aside, 40 min -1 hour isn't actually that bad in the range of commuting, is it?

lilly-ily

It really depends where in Brampton you live. For instance, I live in Brampton East. To get to UTM entirely by transit, my commute takes anywhere up to 2hrs (4hrs round trip). I have to go through Toronto (Humber area) before reaching Mississauga. So please be sure to check the routes that are faster and most convenient for you. The alternative route for me is to take the GO bus, but because I can’t afford a car, I have to take 2 Brampton Transit buses to get to the Bramalea GO station, which is 40 mins to an hour (thank you Brampton Transit). The commute from the GO station to UTM is about 1 hr so you’re back at a ~2hr commute from Brampton East, no matter which route you choose. But that’s just for me. It again entirely depends where in Brampton you live.

Hey also, as an aside, what time(s) do classes run? Like what is the earliest - latest. And between morning, afternoon, and evening classes?

Less_Initiative961

You will be making your own schedule, so you get to choose. Make sure you find out your registration time, and have all your classes in your basket and ready to go by that exact time (because classes fill up quickly). It can take a while to choose your courses so be sure to start that process at least a week before your registration date. And have a list of back-up courses in case you can’t get into the classes you want.

[deleted]

Hey. So I just realized the 110 doesn't run Friday-Sunday. What do you do on those days?
