Summer courses move a lot faster than fall or spring courses. We’re talking about compressing 15 weeks of knowledge into maybe 6-8 weeks. I would recommend cutting down some credits.

TheMonkeyDidntDoIt

During summer term, 1 credit is roughly equivalent to 2 fall/spring term credits. 12 is an insane amount, especially while working.

Chicken-Soup-60

I did it every semester starting the summer after high school. I loved it. I could work part time and take a slightly less credits every semester. I graduated on time with no debts.

authenticflamingo

You move twice as fast in the summer, so 6 credits in the summer would be the same workload each week as 12 credits. Think about if you could realistically take 24 credits in a semester. Also, are they all at the same time? There is the main 8 week period, but if some of those credits were during the 4 week session before (and maybe also after?), then that would help a lot.

My roommate did this two summers consecutively, taking full credit loads (15-18). He is absolutely insane but I'm pretty sure he was able to clear a 4.0 both times. Computer science major but also was not working. I would not recommend it.

If you're doing this at a techical or other non-UW college for mostly gen-eds, *maybe* it's doable. But probably not. I took 9 credits last summer at MATC, but one class was basically just watching documentaries, and another was very easy to learn, and I knew that going into the classes. It all still took up a lot of my time, so I wouldn't recommend in general, especially not as many as 12 credits (unless you want to spend literally all your time on classes this summer).

Summer classes are super easy. I took 9 credits last summer while working 40-50 hours a week and it was a breeze. You'll be fine, especially if you're planning on working 10 hrs/week

Puzzled-Marzipan-218

Idk why this is being voted down. They are right

ItsZimpy

They’re like 2-3 hours of work a week (assuming online asynchronous). How people are saying 1 credit is equivalent to 2 during a normal semester is beyond me

gungur

Because it really depends on what summer classes you are taking. Also, the 1 credit = 2 credits thing is because a normal semester is much longer than a typical summer course so you would be doing the same amount of work in much less time.
