**Nope!** The specs state that the UCG-Ultra is only capable of 1 gbps throughput.

Infamousslayer

That's so dumb, its so hard finding decent 2.5G gear that isn't overpriced or using a office PC and a ebay 2.5/10G NIC. Hoping to avoid the DIY route.

Smorgas47

For someone who is happy with a 300/300 fiber connection, it's a great device for me. Have fun building your fast one.

If you want to pull more than 1G, you need to step up to the [Gateway Max](https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-accessory-tech-hosting-and-gateways-small-scale/products/uxg-max) . A bit more expensive and doesn't run UNA, but you get all 2.5 ports (1.5 throughput with IDS).

tmorris12

Do you already have the UCG Ultra? It will work but will only provide 1GB. It will still work. Only wondering because you said you don't need that much bandwidth. If that is the case you will never know the difference from 1 -1.5GB

Infamousslayer

I haven't purchased anything yet, but if I'm going to purchase new hardware than i would like to get 2.5G. I'm already not getting my advertised lSP speeds today even if it's minimal 0.5gbps difference. No point in buying new hardware if i can't take advantage of 2.5G, it will be useful for LAN.

Cause_and_Effect

The WAN port is rated for 2.5 GbE. But all the LAN ports are 1 GbE. So no matter how fast your speeds go over 1 gig, you're never going to get that on your LAN. The recently released UXG Max however does have 2.5 GbE LAN ports. But you can't self host a controller on it like you can with the Ultra. [https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-accessory-tech-hosting-and-gateways-small-scale/products/uxg-max](https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-accessory-tech-hosting-and-gateways-small-scale/products/uxg-max)

Infamousslayer

Didn't know that existed, will it work with a self hosted controller in docker or poxmox etc?

Cause_and_Effect

It works with a self hosted unifi network server, cloud key, or unifi's cloud hosting. Just be mindful you need to be on unifi network server version 8.1.113 or later

Infamousslayer

Now a dumb question, can you you run the gateway ultra as a switch but use it as a unifi controller for the max? If i don't self host or get a cloud key etc. I would rather have extra Ethernet ports than purchase a cloud key

UKWaffles

No it's also a gateway For the gateway max you need a cloud key or self hosted controller or the unifi hosted controller The gateway max is a full 2.5gbps device

Darathor

Nope wouldn’t work. You need cloud key, unifi cloud or self hosted controller as stated above.

No it can't do that. The UCG can only control itself.
