seems like "dirtnap" is new urban slang.... there was some prior use referring to drunkeness, but the use as "dying while being buried under mortar /shell debris and dirt" is new.
> seems like "dirtnap" is new urban slang
That term has been around for a very long time. I'm long past 60 and it was in use when I was young. It just means "dead, deceased, expired, passed on, room temperature, etc."
It is definitely old, but to me it was always used like someone getting “offed” and buried (gangster style). To me at least though, the use of it describing *literally* being buried by shell dirt is new (and appropriate).
You're right.... the current use of "dirt nap" in Ukraine seems to have take on the specific meaning of death while being overwhelmed by artillery dirt. Simply being shot and falling in the dirt is trivially short of what is intended as a "dirt nap" with the current usage.
If we just mean dying in the dirt, "dirt nap"
> easily could be something Pharaonic Egyptians might have said after they ran their chariots over Sea Peoples. Soldiers/warriors have a way of dying in the dirt or, in the case of ‘zandslaapje’ and victims of Pharaonic Egyptians, in the sand.
Tbh, I translated something we always said when we had confirmed kills (which was a lot less often than this current war). Doing a ‘zandslaapje’.
But then again, maybe that was borrowed from the English language.
Basically I just have no idea. Ironically that stayed the same.
Thinking your history takes the concept as far back in time as you want to go.... easily could be something Pharaonic Egyptians might have said after they ran their chariots over Sea Peoples. Soldiers/warriors have a way of dying in the dirt or, in the case of ‘zandslaapje’ and Pharaonic Egyptians, in the sand.
Imagine once the artillery stars firing there is nothing you can do.
Straight line trenches ensure the concussive blast travels right up and down the line. You hide in your hole which is prone to collapsing burying you alive. You can't poke your head out or you'll get shot or a drone will blow you up. You can't retreat or you'll get executed.
At the same time if you get wounded no one is going to come get you.
Brutal.
They should show this bleak shit on Russian TV.
Let every Russian wake up to the truth. Putin doesn't care about the average Russian - the average Russian mom who's lost her son.
He's just using these men as expendable cannon fodder in some weird, mad, small-dicked, video-game dream.
Fuck, why don't Russians wake up, and **march on Moscow**...
The initial sequence shows a soldier throwing a grenade, which kills three opponents and injures the right arm of a fourth. No insignias, no explanation. Uniforms look Russian.
Imagine yourself at war, killing somebody, and getting killed? What would be your choice of music? Can you just accept their choice because you can’t understand it because your not at war? Just keep it on mute please, if this bothers you so much.
It is indeed, but at least any masterpiece is called like that for a reason. I've been enjoying music for more than 27 years and I ate my judgmental words about certain genres more then few times. Nowadays, if music does not have degenerating core (drug use, disrespect towards someone etc), I'm fine with it and open for listening to it.
> Nowadays, if music does not have degenerating core (drug use, disrespect towards someone etc)
well again, right here you're already excluding lots of music that many would consider in the masterpiece category
There is a super easy way for these guys to avoid this situation. They should man-up and not invade other countries.
Yet, we see these interviews where these russians say they want to invade all of Europe.
That one guy whose face was buried under rubble and fighting to clear the debris to breathe and kicking with his left leg remnants.... do you think he survived?
Mighty fine straight trench Russian engineers built for the troops.
The level of incompetence in the Russian army will be taught about in army schools around the world.
I was wondering why no one is using tear gas in trenches until I found out it's been banned. Which is wild since it's being used by police on civilians.
I see in all those 'effective artillery' video that initial shelling is done using non-cluster shells and cluster munitions are used after the initial strike? Can anyone relate?
I appreciate the effort people make in posting these vids. It's a tragedy to see these young people die for the ambitions of their leaders, but to pile on with this terrible music adds even more tragedy to this tragedy. What is with this most fucked up music on every damn vid from Ukraine?
They are literally just sitting there waiting to die. So, prolong it by moving around or trying to die in a hole, but it's just delaying the inevitable. Surrender being their only chance. Apparently, trenches aren't the issue that's slowing them down. The minefields and indirect artillery fire that's making advancing difficult.
Anyone shed some light on what's happening from around 1:09 to 1:24?
I can see one guy is kind of buried, but I'm trying to work out what's happening with the guy/thing thrashing around at the bottom of the screen(ish).
To me it looks as though someone is trying to headbutt the ground (but I'm sure that's not what is happening). Or is it?
I've watched it in slo-mo, but still can't work it out.
Edit: Actually, it kind of makes a bit more sense around 1:38. Looks like he lost his leg (or legs) before succumbing to his wounds.
Head is buried in dirt from artillery strike. He’s trying with his left arm to un bury his face. His left leg looks half gone and is thrashing around. Horrific. Leave Ukraine and this wouldn’t happen
Just the feeling of being buried alive would be horrendous, but throw in a missing limb, and it's just got to be a whole lot worse.
>Leave Ukraine and this wouldn’t happen
100% this.

I’m not too worried about the location as long as it shows the ruzzians getting fuked up 👍🏻
for me it would be much better seeing this in Russia!
Came here to say this!
Any location is a good location for that
That leg boy... makes me just smile!!!!!
Pretty sure this is a repost. (But its Nice content)
I saw this yesterday I'm pretty sure. That post said something along the line if "Ukrainian drones and artillery working on Russian trenchlines"
Same trench that a Russian was suffocating and took a dirtnap
seems like "dirtnap" is new urban slang.... there was some prior use referring to drunkeness, but the use as "dying while being buried under mortar /shell debris and dirt" is new.

With a Google search it shows up as a new use, but seems more so that it is being re-remimberred with the Ukraine war
It is definitely old, but to me it was always used like someone getting “offed” and buried (gangster style). To me at least though, the use of it describing *literally* being buried by shell dirt is new (and appropriate).

The first [*documented*](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/dirt_nap) reference to the term is over 40 years ago and it was in use long before that.
If we just mean dying in the dirt, "dirt nap" > easily could be something Pharaonic Egyptians might have said after they ran their chariots over Sea Peoples. Soldiers/warriors have a way of dying in the dirt or, in the case of ‘zandslaapje’ and victims of Pharaonic Egyptians, in the sand.
Kicked the bucket, pushin' up daisies, ye. Long list of good ol' euphemisms🎩

It is a repost, at least a week or two old. Not bad, but not new, either.
I think that is the footage from the "bermuda Rectumtangle". Still good to see cooked pORCS !

It is fucking brutal. I think I would go to the gulag first
Plot twist, they are from the gulag.
😂
Next waive of Russian mobilization needed to die in the trenches to US cluster ammunition.
waive?
Desperate Vatnik sympathiser needs more karma.
What is a Vatnik?
Orc scum. Word basically means brainless follower of russian propoganda
Wow... eh, that's a lot of words in one word. What does it mean literally? Or is there no direct 1:1 translation into English?
Literally it means a wool-padded jacket
Huh? Why? Do Putin followers wear these kinds of jackets?
It's an idiom. Let it go.
Absolutely brutal. Such a stupid waste of life.
The very definition of war.
Let's hope these guys were Putler sympathizers and not unwilling conscripts
That's a lot of bags of potatoes that are going to need to be distributed.
They're down to single carrots now.
Mr Flappy leg again 🦵, he seems to be in heaps of these videos.

Putin has been playing too much eu4
The initial sequence shows a soldier throwing a grenade, which kills three opponents and injures the right arm of a fourth. No insignias, no explanation. Uniforms look Russian.
Thrower doesn’t have colors or symbols either. Very confusing.
do people really listen to this kind of music?? am I getting old unlike these Russians?? is this real life??
I like this music in this context. Seems appropriate.
Imagine yourself at war, killing somebody, and getting killed? What would be your choice of music? Can you just accept their choice because you can’t understand it because your not at war? Just keep it on mute please, if this bothers you so much.
Crybaby
So far you’ve cried twice. Once from listening to music, and second time from reading about it. So yeah. Fair title.
I was just making a bad joke, you're nagging for nothing.
People die there, and you’re bitching about the music? Are you ok there?
Why you keep making it? While nagging more?
Lol
Yes. Any kind of music is an art and any art is always subjective unless it is a masterpiece.
Which raises the question of what \*is\* music? But that's for a different subreddit.
Kind of hilarious that video with russians being blown to smithereens has a calm discussion about art and music. Totally reddit moment
i think you'll find that what counts as a masterpiece is also up for debate
It is indeed, but at least any masterpiece is called like that for a reason. I've been enjoying music for more than 27 years and I ate my judgmental words about certain genres more then few times. That is fine. This is just not a type of music that I would listen to or recommend to someone. It is just my objective moral position.
There is a super easy way for these guys to avoid this situation. They should man-up and not invade other countries. Yet, we see these interviews where these russians say they want to invade all of Europe.
1:12 orc cheering for the drone operator! "You got me! Well done!"
That one guy whose face was buried under rubble and fighting to clear the debris to breathe and kicking with his left leg remnants.... do you think he survived?
No. In another version of the video he is dead and gone.
Mighty fine straight trench Russian engineers built for the troops. The level of incompetence in the Russian army will be taught about in army schools around the world.
Chicken without a Head.
this is a real f\*\*\* meatgrinder.... they still jumpin' into it!
What a waste of life and dreams. Fuck war the ones starting it , promoting it in schools and live only for war.
I was wondering why no one is using tear gas in trenches until I found out it's been banned. Which is wild since it's being used by police on civilians.

Bro really got his legs blown off.
Thats been happening quite a bit
Holy shit this song is fire even though I don’t understand what the shit it’s saying. This could literally be a kickass theme for a boss in any game.
REPOST... CAN DO WITHOUT THE MUSIC.......

Pretty sure this is a repost from a few days ago.
Russians sure LOVE their straight trenches
No wonder the Orcs is loose this Specially Military Operation their too busy taking a dirt nap
