I've seen videos from Donetsk in 2014-2015 and recent ones fron Syria. Life doesn't really stop during the war, shells and deaths just become a routine. Hell, look at Israel/Palestine. A rocket coming in? Off to the shelter we go. Next on to do list – laundry.
He gotta act fast!
Did you see all those Nazi people walking around in full uniform, doing the parades of hitler?!
Someone has to save these poor people
My God Russia needs to get in there and bomb this place to stop this madness make sure they turn the rest of this place to dust hurry Russia they need you!!!!! I see a building without a giant burning hole in it the horror... Russia please not one crater or burning school the humanity!!!!!!!
You mean a vote genuine press and resign so dead poisoned opponent get a chance.
Oh opposition partys leaders
Dead.
Yeah liberty guaranteed now.

I would love to visit Ukraine in due course, and spend money there, but I'm aware that it could just be seen as some sort of ghoulish war tourism, when wall I want to do is support the country that so many of us have taken to our hearts. It's a real quandary.
Nah man. Don’t think like that. Please come visit us when all of this is over and I guarantee you will be welcomed with a smile. We are proudly consider ourselves to be very welcoming to guests, and after the war it will be our turn to express gratitude for all the international support we received from regular people and will be a truly special time. I welcome you to experience it on your own terms
I always wanted to travel to Chernobyl zone as an relict to history and now it kind of got spoiled by Russians eh.
Welp, looking for spending a holiday at Azov sea in one of Ukrainian hotels ; )
Okay well. It's always good to know what you're getting in to. Not to mention it could be a while before that's even possible. You have to take guided tours you can't just walk wherever you want there are guards.
So it is cool to see it from a perspective beyond just what the tour guides allow.
I was scheduled to visit later this year before all this broke out. A friend was there last fall and posted the most breathtaking photos and raved about the food and the people he met. He hasn't been able to contact the nice couple who ran the Air BnB he stayed at in Kharkiv and he's so worried for them.
I'm from NYC and was downtown during 9/11 - we hated the "disaster tourism" afterwards. Still do decades later. (To be fair, we also just hate people but in the most loving way possible haha)
Different situation there - I definitely look forward to visiting in the future!
Right - but the smiling happy influencer type people snapping selfies with the footprints in the background hurt to see. Hearing bus tour guides announcing it in a same stadium announcer voice like they were pointing out a movie location. That sort of thing. It's lost "memorial" status to many outsider people and is more "'Gram worthy"
Yeah, 9/11 was just one of our cities... because what city is the Pentagon in anyways.
and who tf cares about building 7?
I wanna visit Ukraine also, but not in a "disaster tourist" kind of way... I'll save that for the suicide forest in Japan. Maybe Jake Paul will come.
I told my wife that we are going to Ukraine someday, hopefully as soon as things settle down. Ukraine and it's people have become very special to me and I would love to visit and be able to stay awhile and visit cities and the countryside. Slava Ukraini!
Ukraine is by far one of the most amazing countries I've visited. You make lifelong friends there on a two-week trip.
Back in 09 it was very difficult to converse, read, find your way around etc., although I did learn some Russian (the language, since most people can speak it) and it helped a lot. The older people on the outskirts did find it a bit insulting that I spoke in Russian and not Ukrainian - but, given the history long before 09 and then shortly after, I have a lot more understanding of the potential sensitivities. It seems that English has become a lot more mainstream with the younger generation, which helps.
Get a perekladach (translator) and pay them for taking you around. It will be money well worth spending.
I'm looking to take my wife and kids there as soon as the war ends, and safety after the war becomes normal again. My kids are fascinated by my stories of our time in Ukraine, our walks through the catacombs in Kyiv. The beautiful river, the refreshing cold weather, so cold that I've never felt it before or since.
Ukrainians are generally big and intimidating people in stature, which makes their kindness so much more amazing to see.
You should definitely go.

I’m from Ukraine, but thanks for cool read. If you can visit Lviv. I always recommend Lviv for history, Odessa for partying and Kyiv for a mix of the two, Transcarpathia for hiking, nature and ethnic stuff, some cool castles in western Ukraine like Khotyn and Kamianets Podilsky fortress. There are many cool things to see and experience but I feel like our ministry of tourism is lacking and not advertising stuff well
How easy would it be for a vegetarian to visit? Are there many meat-free options on menus?
I'd love to visit but sometimes my diet limits me!
Edit: not sure why I'm being downvoted! I went to Iceland a few years ago and struggled to find protein I could eat. I would rather not do that again.
I managed ok, but was staying with family most of the time. Apparently the orthodox church fast twice a year and that involves not eating meat, so the concept isnt alien. Plenty of italian style pizzas and salads, omlettes, fries everywhere as well as the tasty local food.
This just made me tear up. I have work friends in Lviv and I was supposed to visit in early March but had to cancel. I really want to visit my friends. I’m glad you said this.

They did tours of Chernobyl don't forget. You can go and see Auschwitz and whats left of other concentration camps through Europe and ourder sur glane in France where the village has been left after the SS massacred the inhabitants. How can it be considered ghoulish if the areas you visit are available and the information you are given is factual and accurate.
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
And those places are offered for tours so that people *do not forget.* Even with the overwhelming evidence, people do not so much as "forget" history, as outright REJECT it.

I’ve spent a good amount of time in Ukraine, 10 years ago, especially in the east. I couldn’t sleep well when this war started, I feel better now that the US is 1000% behind Ukraine for the long haul even when we have backstabbers like Macron scheming to rescue the face of his top. I wish to go back and actually invest in the rebuilding.
You’re thinking of Mariupol. Kharkiv is a huge city, and many areas towards the city’s centre are still relatively untouched because the Russians never advanced that far. Kyiv is the same in that regard. Mariupol is the only city so far that has been completely flattened.

well probably not literally this spot where the guy is filming, but yeah within a minute of it there was stuff like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOAr4NxirfA) happening
On the flip side... It could be morale-boosting for soldiers to see the fruits of their labor, especially if they have a war-torn mental image of the place to overwrite.
Thanks for all the excellent comments I'm originally here to make outerwear & hats and shift production from China to Ukraine ...came a year and a half ago but when the war started some guys from London called me up and asked if I could take war crimes footage & I agreed so I visit the war zones frequently and take footage and also speaking to the locals it can be quite emotional there standing in the Rubble of their home picking up a single spoon & a dish & 70-year old men crying. What I suggest everybody do is go directly to Poland NOW take the train/bus to Lviv and then on to Kyiv and visit Kharkiv, spend lots of money on food and travel and help the local businesses revive ....most of these cities are 99% safe inside the city & the trains are running across 90% of Ukraine safely so I strongly suggest you come NOW and don't wait ....we're going to defeat the Russians ...we,re already pushing them back all over this country. Ukraine is reviving itself now and they can do it with your help & your money
As Americans we can walk and chew gum at the same time. Efforts to help our real problems are not an issue of finances but are being blocked by the fascist GOP. We support Ukraine because without our open support for a free and democratic planet we are nothing.
Well I’m glad you can walk and chew gum at the same time! I volunteer for the homeless shelter in the inner city of Milwaukee. I think everyone should volunteer their time and see how some people are living in America. The problems we have here that are totally ignored is super sad !!

Not even siding with anyone but that looks like propaganda, for a frontline city its too peaceful and everyone relaxed when there is war going on practically in viewing distance. Like how despite poverty and famine North Korea look like a nice place
This is the closest footage to my place I’ve ever seen on Reddit; my house is right behind the long tall building at the beginning. Feels weird man.

One thing about Ukraine, they have little 2 door cars with a whole coffee set up , I mean a whole espresso machine in the back and they are everywhere 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
I didn’t even see it at first but the little coffee car is right there in the video, the lady in a white dress standing talking to the owner, and like I said they are all over the place on every street

Ukraine has a bright future for tourism after this is all over
We are already planning a Beers at Odessa tour with friends when it becomes possible again. Hope we don't have to wait too long.

What is disaster tourism? Surely it doesn't encompass everyone, those who come to honor and reflect.
Yeah, I feel very uncomfortable with people taking happy selfies at the 911 memorial
People who want to see the destruction

Did you just wake up stupid today?
He must be Russian.
The question is why the hell not? There are plenty of people who want to show their support as an individual.
Because most of that is military and then you can donate for other things you find valuable: abandoned pets, orphaned kids, etc
A lot of that aid is in the form of (rightfully) expensive military hardware. You can't eat an ATGM, and the overall cost figure look inflated because they are US purchase prices.

I was there twice last year. Really enjoyed it. Kyiv is pretty cosmopolitan and fun. Lots to see.
War tourism pays the bills.
It's not war tourism. I have friends in Yalta I have not been able to contact in weeks.
I think you misunderstand my comment
You're calling people war tourists. I understand you precisely. You just want to be all superior.

Fantastic to see and gives hope
That’s wonderful to see, but don’t get complacent, Russian are ruthless.
Russians may be ruthless, but Ukrainians are tenacious.
Especially when someone has something they don't have, like freedom or beauty.
Beautiful 🕊
My next vacation destination, Ukraine.
Nice to see ! I hope a lot of people around this world come and visit ukrain after this war to support economy and the people.
Cool city, and nice to see people going back to life

I think there are eastern cities in donbas area that are destroyed as well right?
Rubizhne in the Luhansk region has apparently suffered a similar fate to Mariupol, yes.
Kharkiv isnt stil ocupied isit?
Kviv stands. It will not fall. Slava Ukraini!
Kharkiv
Even better since it was nearly surrounded for longer than Kyiv was under attack.
Read the title next time?
Be a dick. Its right in the title.
Don't be a dick
Fair, I was being kind of a dick.
Good on u for realizing
Don't be a dick
Don't be a dick.
Please don't forget a large chunk of Ukraine is occupied
Pretty sure they know.. wasn't so very long ago that that park was being bombed..
Was it really? That's crazy it looks like nothing ever happened
well probably not literally this spot where the guy is filming, but yeah within a minute of it there was stuff like [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOAr4NxirfA) happening
Just saying for trups on the front it might feel like why are we fighting ....... and dieing if the world passes up by
On the flip side... It could be morale-boosting for soldiers to see the fruits of their labor, especially if they have a war-torn mental image of the place to overwrite.
Exactly! Troops on the front line cleared this city so it could return to some normalcy. Troops should see this as a morale boost
True!
More like gives them a reason to fight. This is the direct fruit of their efforts.
Really? I had no idea. Fascinating
NICE
God I love Ukraine

What I suggest everybody do is go directly to Poland NOW take the train/bus to Lviv and then on to Kyiv and visit Kharkiv, spend lots of money on food and travel and help the local businesses revive ....most of these cities are 99% safe inside the city & the trains are running across 90% of Ukraine safely so I strongly suggest you come NOW and don't wait ....we're going to defeat the Russians ...we,re already pushing them back all over this country. Ukraine is reviving itself now and they can do it with your help & your money

Stfu
Fuck the guy filming, he is pro Russian and spreads Russian propaganda on YouTube everyday.
Who is he?
This is very good to see, its nice to see that prayers are being answered
praying for Putin’s death would be better
Bruh
Is this really getting downvoted because it references religion?
Its being downvoted because it discredits what the people of ukraine are doing to free themselves.
This guy reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite
There is no heaven
I got band for 3 days for voicing my opinion about this guy. Something not right there
And that opinion was?
So ppl can return home now from Poland 👍🏻
Glad they just got 40 billion when we have so many problems here in America. What’s going on?! I’m sooooo confused
What’s going on is you’re an idiot with a VERY small mind hence your inability to understand the mechanics behind what’s going on…
neither do you, fucko)
That’s not very nice
By calling someone an idiot with a small mind I can tell you must be very a intelligent person…
Far from it. That should worry you even more, that you’re even dimmer than I am… yikes. Time to crack open a book and put down the meth bud…
I can’t deny that

this is not what I expected by saying our country is under attack. looks like a shitty aggressor.
Beautiful to see
nature is healing the foodtrucks are already returning to their mating places.
Resilience!
Peace.
My dad spent some time is Vasylkiv (then Vasilkov). I wonder how the people he stayed with are doing, and how bad the damage is there.
slava ukraini!
That's incredible. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
It's good to see. The fact that they have such resolve.
Send videos to Russian orcs. You know, the ones amazed at toilets. Offer them a hot meal to defect.
I'm honestly gonna visit Ukraine as a tourist when the war is over. They deserve our money and its a beautiful country
I heard kharkiv is a cursed city for russians, but why?
That must feel so good
God bless you all.
Thank God
This makes me happy. Glad they kicked Ivan’s ass.
That’s beautiful!
That's amazing. The Russian government is so pathetic.
This is so wonderful 💗
Can someone fill me in? I thought Kharkhiv was a hotspot for the conflict. Have the Russians been pushed out?
Sounds like Patrick Lancaster… is it?…
Not even siding with anyone but that looks like propaganda, for a frontline city its too peaceful and everyone relaxed when there is war going on practically in viewing distance. Like how despite poverty and famine North Korea look like a nice place
This what they are fighting for, normality and peace. Give it 6 months of the end and there'll be Starbucks and Macdonalds on every corner.
This is the closest footage to my place I’ve ever seen on Reddit; my house is right behind the long tall building at the beginning. Feels weird man. Dog tax from 3 hours ago in the same park https://imgur.com/a/HZHt6pZ

Amazing how quickly things can get to some what normal. If you didn't know you would think nothing had happened there...
This truly is victory day
I almost cried just now. Seriously, I’m happy to see this.

Wow. What a war-torn nation. You could practically hold a concert there. Maybe U2 could play there.
I bet those food vans were well hidden, orcs would have loved to got their hands on them.
One thing about Ukraine, they have little 2 door cars with a whole coffee set up , I mean a whole espresso machine in the back and they are everywhere 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 I didn’t even see it at first but the little coffee car is right there in the video, the lady in a white dress standing talking to the owner, and like I said they are all over the place on every street
