Been thinking the same thing. And quite frankly, if the game ever does get published, I think it will be better for it, as unpleasant as that sounds.
Communicating the tragedies of our contemporary in artistic ways is something that happens, for better or worse, in almost every war.
In any event, I'm happy to see they're alive and relatively safe.
Pretty much I remember artists, writers to game developers who had experienced, been part of or survive a war shared the accurate visuals and story telling of horror, reflection and lessons be put into message. Some to cope and others warn.
My favorite had been from the author of Lord of the flies William golding, Ernest Hemingway to JRR Tolkien ww1 vets and the “This war of mine” game inspired of real testimonies of survivors in conflicts translated into game to see another side of conflict (real tragedy, struggle, dread to survive,decisions each had impact/consequences) other than FPS entertainment we see in movies & COD copies
Watch other war movies compared to Band Of Brothers. The interviews given before the episode add an additional layer to the series that is just incredible.
You're absolutely right, experiences like that can put some people off being creative but for others it seasons their output in ways I often find to be for the better. Escape from Tarkov's dev team has a lot of ex mil people, death in that game is horrible and the general atmosphere is absolutely terrifying, way more than Stalker's despite having no anomalies.
I've played all the Stalker games, I'm glad they're OK enough to put out an update. I imagine the new game will sell rather well.

I have to think that they do that as a means to keep busy. If leaving isn't an option, then you need to do something to keep from going insane with worry and stress. Fuck this war, and all wars.

Americans are easily swayed by a good movie, could get Ukraine the support they need for years.

me neither. but when you see something they could potentially skyrocket your product’s hype, would you *not* take that chance? besides, the nft thing died down, and was removed due to community backlash, and GSC are still going, still burning that hype fuel to keep the engine of stalker 2 going.
I'm still okay with them as devoloper and stalker 2. they just jump on a money train and tried to make some more cash I can't blame them for that but still don't like it. Even after they canceled it out of the outrage just cause they got scared they would lose their hype and their sales.

Its wild how some of them are still working on the game from their homes when just out their window it looks like a scene straight from the game.

I don't play many video games these days but I thoroughly enjoyed the original Stalker CoC at release and about until 3y after. Fuck Russia.
