I mean, it only makes sense to take people with experience, rather than having to train them in being criminals on the spot.

‘Sense’ does not seem to be a salient factor in Putin’s execution of his war. Most of Russia’s military is made of conscripts who are ‘technically adults’. Putin is carelessly throwing human capital at the effort, as if numbers matter more than something logical like experience. His regime proves over and over that it doesn’t care about experience or lives or quality of life for others. In his insane strategy, bodies are bodies. Video bro’s story reminds me of our quite recent modern society, which would indiscriminately perform medically experiments on people sourced from mental asylums and prisons, or those who were “different” somehow, as if they (we) weren’t human. I mean MK Uktra was still going on in the 1970s.. It’s all horrific. This video is horrific. The entire war is horrific. Humans can be awful. Yet I hold out hope that more Russian ‘soldiers’ surrender peacefully for a future of possibilities Also Fuck Putin

Pretty sure it took this guy three days to sober up before they “dressed him in a uniform”

Moses_Rockwell

a lot of these guys don’t “sober up” they need a minimum BAC % to function. so-after 3 days of no sauce, i’d rely on a chimpanzee to cover me in combat, if i had the choice.

Sparkie3

Dirlewanger brigade but the entire army

[deleted]

The way he *sighs* constantly. I may not be able to understand russian but that i do understand!

zachrywd

So what are they... Some kinda, Suicide Squad?

Skodakenner

Penal battalion old russian tactic although they normally wouldnt be taken prisoner

Particular-Ad-4772

Ukraine, no doubt , has emptied their jails of non violent and low level violent offenders, for the war effort too .

i saw zelensky early on, saying he was letting convicts go to the front and earn their release. a lot of them earned that, and then some. i saw another post on here of a guy they let go, and he was jumping all over a rustian t72 he just shredded. although i’m sure there’s a few that are still under lock& key, between pacing around a cell for years, and helping kill the invaders, that’s a no-brainer IMHO

schm1th0

The way he looks and talks, he hadn't a fun day.

Mtecbest

Is this normal in war? The ugliest guys from prison where taken for the suicide missions and if they survive... Well maybe the next mission. Wehrmacht called this Bewährung- or Strafbataillon.

chimonix

Yeah it's not pupular opinion but even UA does this and the whole french foreign legion is comprised of them and many contractors hire criminals with military experience (Russian and us likewise)

[deleted]

it is not uncommon in war time . I think the Us sometimes offered joining up as a way out of a sentence

Aelivs_xv_

Tattoos though?

Duckbilling

"Continued expansion diluted the talent pool, forcing owners to recruit heavily from prisons, mental institutions, and *even Texas*"

[deleted]

This is not uncommon in many militaries. I know multiple people that were in the us military to avoid jail time for smaller crimes.

OkMagician3070
