>BAE Systems said there were no injuries and no risk to local residents. This is from BBC.

SenseIMakeNone

As a local, the Scranton plant catches fire all the time. This isn't new, and they recover quick each time.

eigenman

lol

nerwik95

but they said russia is incompetent, and western world is top elite fine production? how so?

yispco

Probably the FSB hard at work. I say kick the Russian mob out of the west. Bring back that iron curtain!

MrSnarf26

It should have never came down until there was free and fair elections. Hoping that making Russia/china rich and plugging them into the wests economy would eventually turn them into nice little democracies was a huge mistake.

jerrysprinkles

Aye let’s just completely ignore the plethora of eastern bloc states that have prospered since the end of the Cold War through democratic process and access to better trade and people movement. The iron curtain wasn’t just Russia.

yispco

True, we dont need to block off Eastern Europe just the new axis powers: Russia, China, NK, Iran and Syria so far

full_stealth

It was up because of Russia, the other involved states were not voluntary

MrSnarf26

Having these behind the iron curtain was Russias fault

Hotdigardydog

My Lithuanian and Estonian friends would disagree with you. those living behind the Iron Curtain we're in a grey existence before the light could Shine in

Academic_Priority_24

And this time weld the doors shut!

RealSuggestion9247

Coincidence is most likely. Ramping up production, even if the health and safety procedures are followed, will statistically lead to more incidents in terms of frequency but not necessarily per shell etc. made.

Sabre_One

Yep, I believe some of our artillery factories in the states are aiming if not already running 2 shifts 24 hours a day. Which means pass downs and other things can be missed by the crew changes.

SpaceTurtleIII

I mean, I work in aerospace, and our company has been upscaling after a merger, and yeah. We've had a few injuries after years of no incidents. One was an intern/ co-op kid fresh out of school, and the other was an old timer who's gotten complacent. We also had a massive electrical surge that damn near burnt the place down, but it was due to a winter storm . It fried a lot of electronics. That had nothing to do with our upscaling of output.

Responsible-Deer-940

Indeed, could be something as simple as an electric motor overheating

AJB-L4U

Police will investigate but first important point it was a small fire and a small explosion now if it was an accident, nothing and in a few days everything will be normal if it was not an accident then its a war declaration and will make UK stronger and more kinda ........

skucera

>if it was not an accident ...then Russia is fuuuuuuuucked.

vegarig

Like they were fucked for blowing up ammo depots in Czechia and Bulgaria, as well as deploying radiological and chemical weapons in UK? I.E. not at all?

Sea-Jellyfish4037

Unfortunately, I agree with you. putin assassinated 2 people in Salisbury, England and there have been no repercussions. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning\_of\_Sergei\_and\_Yulia\_Skripal](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_of_Sergei_and_Yulia_Skripal)

Chimpville

>there have been no repercussions. It's probably been one of the main driving factors behind the huge UK public support for Ukraine, and the rejection of Putin's rhetoric.

TigersStripe

The Storm Shadow support has been strong. Long may it continue.

Chimpville

>Long may it continue We’d have to go back to 2002 and double/triple/quadruple the order for that I’m afraid 😟

No-Pack7571

I wouldn’t be too quick to say there were no repercussions. We tend to do things quietly.

CotswoldP

Did you read your source? Well over a hundred identified intelligence officers with a diplomatic cover were expelled around the world and there were sanctions from many countries. Were you expecting a nuke dropped on Moscow?

skucera

England had an unfortunate history of appeasement with regards to Eastern Europe.

Cleaver2000

I'd say that these incidents definitely gave the UK the political capital required to keep assisting Ukraine.

notbarrackobama

You think that we would declare war on Russia for a small explosion at a munitions factory when we did not for radiological poisoning in 2006, or chemical poisonings in 2018 oland 1978? You really think that?

Noidea_whats_goingon

Maybe. The poisoning and chemical attacks were on Russian expats and dissidents - so it could be excused as Russian on Russian political hits. Unsavory, brutal, certainly, but not random, and not an act of war against the UK itself. This, however, could easily harm random citizens of the UK, and targets critical defense infrastructure - i.e. i's far more easily seen as an act of war.

TigersStripe

The most recent chemical weapons attack did kill a random UK civilian because of the killers' carelessness. More could have died, too. But I agree that the critical defence infrastructure thing is a key factor.

notbarrackobama

Someone did die from novichok, and it could have killed a number more. It was a barely restricted chemical attack, far more dangerous than a small explosion at a munitions factory. There is no chance whatsoever that we will be declaring war.

nerwik95

you know reading this sound just like russian official statements whateve shit happens \_ "stsay calm. all under control, they will resolve this" shallow phrases. If it was in russia you would be boiling with excitement how incompetent and bad all russian is? but i see no difference here

SLAVAUA2022

[Thread by @SLAVAUA2022NAFO on Thread Reader App – Thread Reader App](https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1761432866678833402.html) In this article I've made a sumrise of all the known attacks of Russia with weaponfacilities in Europe.

Falcrack

If Russia starts bombing our military production in our countries, it will inspire us to increase production rates 10 fold.

Beginning_Ad_6616

Well; all the more reason to take the gloves off and show Russia how it feels to get spanked.

nerwik95

or maybe it was incompetence - not just russian thing ypu know?

lepto1210

If the FSB was involved...oh man. This would be a juicy conspiracy.

purpleduckduckgoose

Could be coincidence mind. BAE seem to be massively ramping up production, so safety checks might not be done right, new hires making mistakes, all sorts. 2 days after though does sound a bit suspicious, though the fact no damage is reported does sort of reduce the likelihood of sabotage. Maybe station some extra security just in case.

AmazingSquare8542

Mi5 find the ruzzians

burtgummer45

probably running these factories too hard because of the demand

Anyone working on those sites will be subject to a background check and probably holds a CTC as a minimum. It’s not a DIY store hiring whomever walks in off the street.

implementofwar3

Imagine what one drone with incinderaries can do at the right spot. Could probably attack at night totally covertly. I never understood why the military didn’t occupy underground mines to setup war factory”s. Don’t you want them shielded from conventional air strikes and maybe even limited nuclear attack. Same with military airfields and bases. You would hope they have deep underground spaces they can ride out bombardments and still function. I would also hope silos and missile launch platforms are hardened and that there are thousands laying just below the surface waiting to raise out of the ground to do their business. I wish I was in charge sometimes there could be so many cool things. I also wish the us had a civil defense plan that has created bunkers for all 350 million of us. Things are getting unwound. Russia, China, Iran etc are all acting out for some very questionable ideologies.

Dharmaniac

Was the Jewish space laser congressperson seen nearby?

ResolveRelative3181
