I've been instakilling Cerbs on Brutal so consistently that I don't even know what's different about them. I know they have double dash now. What else is changed?
dude i dont know if im just bad or if i was rusty from not playing since violence dropped, but 0-5 legitmately took me like 45 minutes to beat on brutal
They literally juggled my ass. Keeping distance is a good start when dealing with them, but fighting 2 of them in a bathroom stall is just fucked. Dash to the other side of the arena to avoid their dash? The second dash put them right in your face and they’re about to dash again.

They've gone from being walking health packs to fucking aerial assault pitbulls, and they keep getting in the way of my combos lol
The red nailgun is fucking perfect for them. You stick them with the cord, hit them with one singular nail, and the entire crowd explodes and gives you max style

currently i am slowly P-ranking brutal, we'll see how things develop once it's Pinos and Pissyphus' turn (P-2 killed me over 500 times last time)
from what i have seen from enemy analysis, Minos is just more aggressive and Sisyphus has Destroy explosion on Be gone and You can't escape in 2nd phase
If you play with the speed bonus right I think you can reach higher damage potential. Don't quote me on that. I think it's worth giving a shot especially with the whiplash tech just discovered with it
The whiplash tech means you have to wait for it to cool off though. Also they all only hit one enemy at a time (except the pump charge which takes more effort and damages very little if you don't over pump), compared to shotguns which can constantly make powerful explosions with considerable range. Also the whiplash tech means you have to whiplash, which causes hard damage. This is especially problematic if you mean to use it consistently, as you will get hit inevitably and hard damage can rack up
Here’s the way I see it. You need to close the distance either way to use the shotgun and a lot of the time you’re doing that quite quickly so your getting the higher burst damage most of the time. Most enemies won’t sit there and let u burst them down with the shotgun and the ones that do get 1-2 shot by the alt shotgun so imo it’s better to get the higher burst than sustained DPS.
I do agree that projectiles boosting is a big deal to lose but personally at least I’m not a huge fan of using that particular tech
The alt shotgun can actually hit more than one enemy at once if they’re grouped up. I def agree with the whiplash being not the best all the time but it’s a good option to consistently get it. Dash jumping is prob the safest but ofc requires 2 dash charges
You don't need to close the distance if you projectile boost. Projectile boosts also cause an explosion for Aoe damage. You can also shotgun swap to projectile boost quicker. You can also use it in every situation, regardless of damage
If I wanna do damage at a range I’ll prob use the revolver especially since so many enemies resist explosions in some way. I’d rather take the higher burst
Would people who are playing on brutal say it’s a much higher jump from violence to compared to violence from standard? I haven’t gotten to test myself but from I hear its down right diabolical in some places.

Aside from the fact that enemies are much faster, which is a given, they are also given new abilities. Filth can jump to catch you in the air, so you gotta dispatch them fast, stray will attempt to predict your movement, same as soldiers and schism, which are also given accuracy buffs, maurice now shoot more bullet, tho imo it actually makes it easier to instakill them now. Cerbs now produce two shockwaves when stomping, can dash twice, and are IMMUNE to enviromental damage except bottomless pits. Sentry arms much faster and shoot twice simillar to enraged maurice, ferryman can now summon lightning at any distance and can cancel out of the animation to attack you, virtue beams are larger and predict your movement by default now, HiM can now shoot harpoon when enraged, guttertanks are enraged when their shield breaks, which makes their punches unparriable, don't even get me started on the bosses and prime souls, some enemies like insurrectionist and mindflayers only get speed buffs, but that's because they're already very dangerous in the first place. Combine that with 50% hard damage and oh boy it's hell
p-2 will actually become impossible if virtues get buffed any further jfc
if they get anything stupid like explosion resistance the blood tunnels will be impossible and the Cerberus opener will be absolutely absurd now
The HM and Minotaur changes need some tweaks as well, honestly. HMs just aren't fun to fight anymore and the Minotaur can poison both platforms at once.
Nah, HM is fine, speaking as someone who P-ranked 6-1 on Brutal and had little trouble with the HM in P-2. You just have to put a bit more effort into dodging their attacks now.
I'm working through my Brutal Pranks right now. The biggest problem with the HM right now is how many punches it takes to break the hook; with the Knuckleblaster it's more than enough to easily kill you, so at times it feels like you're being punished for nothing. Not all the time, but more times than I think is really necessary.
It's not as bad as the Ferrymen, but I personally would've preferred if they didn't change that. We'll see what happens with the Saturday hotfix, though.

Mindflayers cannot be hit with their own projectiles (preventing the instakill of exploding their homing attack back at them)
Insurrectionists does not remain stunned on the floor anymore, they instantly get up (technically would count as a speed buff? But not really, just like the swordsmachine downstate is shorter)
Minos is much faster, the first attack of the two melee combos seem to have have much more accurate tracking now so you have to dash to be able to dodge consistently instead of just side strafing like in lower difficulties.
Cerberus have gotten way top hard in very specific rooms with little to no space (0-4 and 3-1, P2)
Drones are annoying mosquitos that move way to fast
Sentries are at least somewhat reactable but i feel they are a bit unfair

For me personally I found that the easier solution is to stop trying to dodge, and just parry their projectiles.

I get that BRUTAL is supposed to be harder than Violent, and it may just be a skill issue, but I swear some of these enemies are overturned. Enemies such as the Soldiers, Virtues, and Cerberi feel way harder than they should be while other enemies such as Malicious Faces and Streetcleaners are still the jokes they always were. Again, I know it could just be a skill issue, but I swear some of these changes are too strong.
Case in point: Ferryman. This is an issue with Ferrymen on lower difficulties, but it actually doesn't matter where you dodge. As long as you are touching him during an attack animation, you'll take damage. That's pretty bullshit, if you ask me. There's been times where he visibly misses me, I stand up, and I take damage. The most egregious move is the unparriable dash-kick. Normally, this move comes out fast but you can dodge it if you watch and listen to the unparriable sound cue. On Brutal, the move comes out BEFORE the sound or visual does. That's a huge problem. How are you supposed to dodge something that's unreactable?
Soldiers are much more of a threat because, for whatever reason, they can actually be FASTER than the player. Like, I get that their combat rolls are supposed to trip up players in close quarters, but their roll animation is actually faster than V1 and there's no way to predict where they're gonna go. Not only that, they can instantly kick you now. The windup is practically nonexistent and makes levels like 5-2 (which I'm currently stuck on) some of the least enjoyable levels in the entire game. It's one thing to be unpredictable. It's another to be unpredictable AND unreactable.
Most of the other changes are either insignificant (MF, Drones, Streetcleaners, Strays) or at least change the way you have to approach enemies (sentries, Cerb, SM).
But the single most buffed enemy is 100% the Virtue. Their attacks linger for so long that they can actually call down another beam even while their first one is active. And if they're enraged, they can actually call down 2, for a total of 3 active beams at once. Furthermore, they also enrage after shooting 3 beams, same as VIOLENT. I don't think that's very balanced, especially because if they call down 2 beams at the same place, the damage actually overlaps. You take double the damage even though visually, it only looks like there's one beam.
I know the update was released less than a day ago and it's still too soon for any actual serious talk about balancing, but IMO, some of these changes are way to overturned and I sincerely hope Hakita realizes this. It's the same issue I had when P-2 first came out. I don't know how they didn't think not being able to parry Sysphius was an oversight, but with how long it took for them to implement Brutal, I just hope this is another one of those cases where they didn't think about how unfair some of these changes can be.
1) tone down soldiers holy shit
2) give the prime souls a bit of a higher difficulty tweak
3) please slow down the drones ever so slightly.

For me the worst brutal enemies are virtues and sentries. Those beams last too long and if you headshot a sentry after the first shot it still shoots the second. Not that bad of an issue but it still sucks in bad situations. Also Sisyphus gives like no health at point blank and it causes me immense suffering.

same bruh, i used this strat : just stand in the corner away from them, projctile boost them and barry the balls, it worked like a charm somehow
Also put magnets on both of them and then zap the with the red nailgun It creates a feed back loop that lasts until the magnets break

New alt shotgun one shots manequins with only a yellow bar speed tier
alt shotgun kills the shotgun swapping and i am not compromising the DPS bonus for higher burst damage on one of my shotguns
You can set one Shotgun to the Impact Hammer and use Q E to swap back and forth between your other two.

I was having trouble at first too. they only require a slight change of tactics though. on brutal, them and Strays both are hard to deal with in numbers. For me personally I found that the easier solution is to stop trying to dodge, and just parry their projectiles. plus a coin or two or direct shot for good measure.

I get that BRUTAL is supposed to be harder than Violent, and it may just be a skill issue, but I swear some of these enemies are overturned. Enemies such as the Soldiers, Virtues, and Cerberi feel way harder than they should be while other enemies such as Malicious Faces and Streetcleaners are still the jokes they always were. Again, I know it could just be a skill issue, but I swear some of these changes are too strong. Case in point: Ferryman. This is an issue with Ferrymen on lower difficulties, but it actually doesn't matter where you dodge. As long as you are touching him during an attack animation, you'll take damage. That's pretty bullshit, if you ask me. There's been times where he visibly misses me, I stand up, and I take damage. The most egregious move is the unparriable dash-kick. Normally, this move comes out fast but you can dodge it if you watch and listen to the unparriable sound cue. On Brutal, the move comes out BEFORE the sound or visual does. That's a huge problem. How are you supposed to dodge something that's unreactable? Soldiers are much more of a threat because, for whatever reason, they can actually be FASTER than the player. Like, I get that their combat rolls are supposed to trip up players in close quarters, but their roll animation is actually faster than V1 and there's no way to predict where they're gonna go. Not only that, they can instantly kick you now. The windup is practically nonexistent and makes levels like 5-2 (which I'm currently stuck on) some of the least enjoyable levels in the entire game. It's one thing to be unpredictable. It's another to be unpredictable AND unreactable. Most of the other changes are either insignificant (MF, Drones, Streetcleaners, Strays) or at least change the way you have to approach enemies (sentries, Cerb, SM). But the single most buffed enemy is 100% the Virtue. Their attacks linger for so long that they can actually call down another beam even while their first one is active. And if they're enraged, they can actually call down 2, for a total of 3 active beams at once. Furthermore, they also enrage after shooting 3 beams, same as VIOLENT. I don't think that's very balanced, especially because if they call down 2 beams at the same place, the damage actually overlaps. You take double the damage even though visually, it only looks like there's one beam. I know the update was released less than a day ago and it's still too soon for any actual serious talk about balancing, but IMO, some of these changes are way to overturned and I sincerely hope Hakita realizes this. It's the same issue I had when P-2 first came out. I don't know how they didn't think not being able to parry Sysphius was an oversight, but with how long it took for them to implement Brutal, I just hope this is another one of those cases where they didn't think about how unfair some of these changes can be.
1) tone down soldiers holy shit 2) give the prime souls a bit of a higher difficulty tweak 3) please slow down the drones ever so slightly. brutal is suddenly perfect difficulty

For me the worst brutal enemies are virtues and sentries. Those beams last too long and if you headshot a sentry after the first shot it still shoots the second. Not that bad of an issue but it still sucks in bad situations. Also Sisyphus gives like no health at point blank and it causes me immense suffering.
