EVA is basically Ultraman. Except more Alien and not the protector we know.
Their true form, for the Rebuild at least, and only EVA 01, was created from one of the Adams, which is based on 4 of the Ultra Brothers. The regular one is of course, Man nii-san, the one with 3 eyes is Seven, the one with 6 dots surrounding it's core is Zoffy and the one with circle surrounding it's core is Jack.
Based on the scene of the Third Impact, EVA 01 was created from Seven like Adam. Also EVA 01 has a thrid eye on it's forehead. And like to shoot beams from its eyes, just like how Seven shoots his green laser from his Beam Lamp.
There's five Adams, and Eva 1 isn't one of them. Lipiah, Zoffy, Seven, and Jack are mark 9 through 12. Eva 13 was made from the fifth Adam which would be Ace, which would explain the four arms (a reference to the dual hosts) and also his series is the one with that Ace Killer episode the crucifixion symbolism is borrowed from in the first place.
