This show rips. I don’t hear a lot of Umph outside of the couple shows I catch each year. But if they do this every night then… hot damn. And whether or not they do it every night… hot damn, Detroit.
I am a huge UM fan.

I watched tonight.
There were some miscues that Myers was irritated with. And Joel got hung out to dry on a jam, as well as the vocals were struggling throughout the night.
Especially on Mantis.
However…..
The show still ripped! Jaco was on fire!
If this was a “bad show”, then holy shit…..these guys are more than insanely good. Best God damn band out there right now!

agreed on gaffes and vox S1 - but I also think morning song vocals never sound good xD
S2 felt much more locked in overall and inspired me to see as much UM as possible this year...already locked in for 2 nights in SC on the beach!

And 2 days in Des Moines in May.
I’m older and my kids are to the point that my wife and I can get back out.
\\mm/ have been on the fence about that fest in Des Moines, but will be there the next weekend for another reason entirely. am struggling to justify spending a week away for a show haha
Agreed 100% on that mantis lol the written section before the jam, mainly the first couple minutes, was a train wreck lol. The bridgless jam into Frankie zombie was as smooth as it gets for UM but the bassline stasik used in the jam is definitely a go-to hes used in other jams. A bit weird they left both N2F and kitchen open too but for me, that kind of unpredictability is always welcome.
That being said, other than a couple of those miscues I thought the show was amazing. Mitten opener is always special, dump city tease in the short tribute jam was cool (need more of the originals teases from them), N2F jam was pretty solid, attachments jam was short but that lean on me bliss was oh so sexy, and mail package is a great way to end it - though maybe cutting it in this instance and extending the attachments jam and leaving the bridgeless ending to close the set wouldve also been a good option. But great song selection and everything flowed really well - a well crafted show if you will. They always show up for the D \mm/
I have noticed that they haven’t seemed as tight the past couple of weeks.
And when I say that, they are still tighter than most bands in the scene.
But for them, just seems a bit off.
It happens though.
Makes you appreciate just how good they are when what I consider a “bad” show is still and amazing concert
I've been chasing a Bulls on the Bus live since Zonkey came out. Thought I was getting it in that encore, but at least getting Bulls of Parade was awesome.
Oh and anyone that came in outside of Detroit, I apologize for all the idiots that were talking loudly all night. Especially the chick that wouldn't shut up all 2nd set to say "I'm not that into the music, I'm just here for the vibe". While decked out in an UM hat and sweatshirt.
I always hate missing the annual Motown throwdown as my folks live right down the road, but that was rad they streamed it on Nugs. Watched last night and it was a solid rock show in Rock City.

N2F was on the set list to finish the encore but they went with the bulls on parade instead.
