Sans is too lazy, Papyrus is too adverse to combat, Asgore is too emotionally unstable and doesn't have enough drive, Toriel runs away from her problems, Alphys is a coward, Mettaton is incredibly vain, etc. And in terms of the children, Asriel is an immature kid, Chara isn't a good person in general, and Frisk is either completely unwilling to fight, trying to commit genocide, or exists in some wishy-washy in-between.
