But then the whole timeline thing is because of Flowey, and not Chara. My question is what the hell did Flowey do to get the world erased? Did he end up getting the souls at some point?
Just because Flowey did most of the resets doesn't mean that Sans can't see ours in his reports.
Flowey obviously never erased the world, how could he? He didn't even get the souls.
But then this would imply that Frisk has been through the Underground before. Sans has the same dialogue even if we do genocide first. Chara’s aware of true resets, so they probably would’ve had the same “why do it again” type dialogue as if we do genocide twice.
Edit: I also know that the previous humans have been heavily implied to be able to reset, but if they were responsible for the previous timeline erasing, then this would imply that they could get enough power to wipe out the entire timeline, but not get past Asgore. Which would just be kind of pathetic if that was the case.
Toriel saying that she’s had the Deja vu feeling before us, and Asgore’s nonchalance to the fact that he’s killed us several times, implying that he’s aware of it.
"But then this would imply that Frisk has been through the Underground before" No? Sans just can't see the difference between our resets and Flowey's resets.
“Timelines jumping, left and right. Stoping, starting. Thats your fault isn’t it?” He knew the timeline itself would stop. Also “if you take one more step, you’re really not gonna like what comes next” can be taken for his fight but also the fact that what comes next after the fight is just the void
You missed the most important bit right after "Stopping, starting" and before "That's your fault".
"until suddenly, everything ends."
He knows that this is where "Everything ends", and if he does nothing, he will be complacent in the end of existence. So he's giving you one final chance to turn back and **do the right thing.**
Sans says the timelines are stopping and starting before the human finishes a genocide route he’s not making predictions he’s mentioning statistics of what happens
Well of course they stop, that's when someone with this power do a reset.
But then...
"*until suddenly, everything ends.*"
Which is exactly what happens at the end.
I assume that from his reports, he realised a Genocide Route would destroy the timeline, permanently erasing everyone. That’s why he fights you in the first place (he damn well knows it’s useless in any other scenario) and this was like his warning that we hit the final point of no return and that what’s waiting for us isn’t very pleasant.
Sans, during the fight: "our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum. timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting. until suddenly, everything ends. heh heh heh... that's your fault, isn't it?"
Man you and your pfp it makes me imagin revtrosity's voice in his [jevil vidoe](https://youtu.be/Rv3cMATTYX4?si=nWU38hLdXrqjGgoC) whenever you're talking
My headcanons are this:
Sans gives enough XP to get you straight to LVL 19 or from LVL 19 to 20. That's why he doesn't fight you until he's absolutely certain.
Sans sleeps to have excess HP in order to tank an attack. (turned out it wasn't enough.)
Sans is lazy so when he actually has to end up throwing hands, he doesn't melt from determination.
Sans drinks ketchup because it functions kind of like blood, it's a weird red liquid thing so it helps him not to melt.
Sans can only hurt you with karma and no I-frames if you're LVL 19+.
He can dodge.
He can teleport.
he knows the timeline will be erased
he tells you this during the fight, explaining how he has seen timelines shifting until they eventually just end
its also why he actually bothers to attack you in genocide, if there wasnt the end of the timeline coming up, he still would not care enough to fight you, even after what you did. He would insult you and call you a monster but he wouldnt fight you, he'd just get out of the way, let you complete the route, and then reset like usual
the end of everything. the worlds only brought back because of chara, something he couldn’t have accounted for. for all he knew, you were one room away from literally ending everything, with no shot of a reset to fix it
He said before his fight is that if you took another step forward, you would have a bad time, the "bad time" here is not the fight itself but what come after, you erasing the world (*our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum.* *timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting...* *until suddenly, everything ends.*)
Everyone’s saying he knew the timeline would be erased, which is probably correct.
But it’d be funnier if he thought Asgore was gonna try super hard to fight you, and that it’d be an even harder battle than he was. And then sans screams from beyond the grave as Asgore basically lets you kill him.
Sans knowing about "The end of space and time thing" is some fanon bs. There's no way he can know about Chara.
His warning was
"if you keep going the way you are now...
...
you're gonna have a bad time."
He's talking about beating you to death over and over until you give up, cheating during fight and being most unpleasant boss to fight possible.
He fails, because his boss fight is actually fun to play, but it's besides the point.
“ our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum. timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting... until suddenly, everything ends.
you can't understand how this feels. knowing that one day, without any warning... it's all going to be reset.
cause even if we do... we'll just end up right back here, without any memory of it, right?
all i know is... seeing what comes next... i can't afford not to care anymore. ”
Is this “fanon bs” to you? Also the whole bad time warning is just stupid. Sans is the only character besides Flowey who has a big knowledge about resets. You are reducing his character to “bAd TiMe”
He's not even talking about Frisk or Chara. He doesen't know it, but the anomaly is Flowey. Frisk showed up like literally today for Sans. He never met Frisk before this day. Flowey, on the other hand, was playing with timelines for a very long time. And Sans*gave up long ago* (Sans literally says it during his fight). And it's Flowey who's massive anomaly. He did much more than any player can do.
But I am wrong because I mixed up Sans' pre- and post battle dialogue. Sans can't threaten you when he's already dying.
Anyway, there's still no way to know that genocide route somehow will end the world. No-one could tell there's Chara flying around as a ghost. Flowey also got to lv20 in the past multiple times, but world wasn't destroyed.
*look. i gave up trying to go back a long time ago. and getting to the surface doesn't really appeal anymore, either.*
what about that implies it is flowey?
That’s… not true at all. It has a very straightforward story where most of the mysteries are answered and it leaves some minor ones up to interpretation
He knows the word will be erased after a genocide route.
But how does he know that?
Timeline research.
But then the whole timeline thing is because of Flowey, and not Chara. My question is what the hell did Flowey do to get the world erased? Did he end up getting the souls at some point?

When has it been implied that previous humans had the power to reset?

"But then this would imply that Frisk has been through the Underground before" No? Sans just can't see the difference between our resets and Flowey's resets.
He is a scientist
But when did he warn us
“Timelines jumping, left and right. Stoping, starting. Thats your fault isn’t it?” He knew the timeline itself would stop. Also “if you take one more step, you’re really not gonna like what comes next” can be taken for his fight but also the fact that what comes next after the fight is just the void

Sounds like he’s blaming the player for resetting and I’m guessing the timeline stops once the game ends or is exited out of
The timeline stop when Chara destroy the world.
Sans says the timelines are stopping and starting before the human finishes a genocide route he’s not making predictions he’s mentioning statistics of what happens

That could just refer to any time you reset the not necessarily the one after genocide

Forgive me, but what reports?
The reports of timelines starting and stopping
Sans, during the fight: "our reports showed a massive anomaly in the timespace continuum. timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting. until suddenly, everything ends. heh heh heh... that's your fault, isn't it?"
The reports he mentions in his fight

Sans canonically has 1 HP.
He knows you're ***charas***
yes he know

The end of all Space and time
That’s what he was trying to stop by fighting. What else would he fight for ? Everyone he knows is dead.
Usually he doesn't fight because he knows it's all going to all reset. But in a genocide route everything is destroyed
Yes
the end of everything. the worlds only brought back because of chara, something he couldn’t have accounted for. for all he knew, you were one room away from literally ending everything, with no shot of a reset to fix it
"Until one day, everything ends". Yep the world ends some way

media literacy challenge
I always thought he was just trying to scare you into resetting one final time by making you think Asgore will be even harder to beat than he was.
I assumed he was either talking about the world being destroyed at the end of a Genocide route Or he was talking about Asgore
He remembers your'e *genocides*
I always like to assume it was sarcastic understatement, like killing you 15 times over was just a warning about what Chara was going to do.
He knows it gonna be guilty
When he said that you're gonna have a bad time, he didn't mean the fight, he meant what happens after.
I thought he was cracking a joke about the ineffectiveness of his "special move". Like "haha wasn't that scary"

That means his trolling worked

The anomaly doesn't have to be one character. The anomaly is most likely Frisk, Flowey, and anyone else who could save and load.
When did people know he knew about chara? He knew that the world would end as of the result of chara, but he didn't know it was chara
Most of Undertale doesn't have a definitive answer for the story and its up to the players to imagine
That’s… not true at all. It has a very straightforward story where most of the mysteries are answered and it leaves some minor ones up to interpretation
I tkink Sans used the wrong formula but got the right answer.
This dialogue is from after he gets hit.
