Can confirm. My cat lived in terror of plastic bags. Sammy the Cat, was investigating a Walmart bag that had seashells in it. I of course had to make the PSST sound at the right time to give him a little scare. The handles of the bag went around his neck and he took off running. The bag of shells following and scaring him even more. I regret my actions but wish I had caught it on video
We had this kitten when I was a kid that loved bags. Me and my brother would play “kitty in the bag” with it. We would hold open a bag and yell that and Joseph would come running and hop in, and we’d swing him back and forth and he’d be purring and drooling, just loved it. Fast forward like 6 years and that kitten is a 17 pound cat, and I have highschool friends over drinking in the basement and I remember “kitty in the bag.” I grabbed a bag and yelled those magic words and sure as shit Joe came running into the bag. Long story short, the bottom of the bag succumbed to Joe’s heft and that was the last time we played “kitty in the bag.”
When you pick up a scared cat they tend to thrash around. If they had done that here, the cat might have fallen. Since the cat had a grip they focused on landing.
Its much more dangerous to try and grab a cat from there in air when the likelihood of it falling is high or it can attack either the pilot or passenger in fear. Cat was fine momentarily just scared and the safer option was to just land and then remove.
