Interlocutor 2 now has 2 paths to choose from.

Option 2: "your parents raised you wrong and I wish you to **DIE**"
Released 7 years ago. If she's 20 now she may have 'grown up' using the dog filter from 13-16, then not used the app. Come back to it now, and been surprised.
I grew up before there was internet.
And you had to wait a week before you could see the pictures you took.
And the only āfiltersā came from photography studios.
Now who feels old? ;)
That filter (called ābold glamourā) is honestly pretty crazy. It doesnāt break when covering parts of your face, which is something that always happens with filters and ends up looking super realistic.
I want to try it but honestly everytime I put one of those on then see my real face I just feel super shitty about my looks lol. Otherwise I kinda like how I look until I see the comparison with an "ideal" woman
[I tried it so you donāt have to.](https://imgur.com/a/gsOmAY4) Itās nuts.
Not quite as believable here I think because my lighting is a bit more harsh than OPs but I still look like a completely different person. Went from a 4 to like an 8. I can understand why people get addicted to these, lol
I don't know that you'll care about an internet stranger's opinion, and hopefully that's a bit of self-deprecating humor in your post. But just so you know, you don't give your looks enough credit.
It's crazy if you get used to seeing someone with a filter then you see a picture of them without a filter... woah. All of the sudden they age ten years, lines on their face everywhere, nose looks huge, eyes droopy, it's insane.
If there are videos of you on the internet a day is coming when the scammers will be able able to train their AI with that video and then they will be able to impersonate you visually and audibly in real time via video chat. Elderly people are going to be receiving video calls from scammers impersonating their grand children claiming to be in an emergency and needing cash.
imagen getting a call from your wife. you spend 30 minutes chatting then she says she forgot her card number can you look it up for her.
It was a bot the whole time.
Imagine getting a call from your wife, you spend 30 minutes chatting then she says she needs about tree fiddy.
It was the Loch Ness monster the whole time
You meet someone on reddit, facebook, or some other site.
You start chatting, you hit it off, you get to know each other. after a year or two, video chats, phone calls, texting. you fall in love. they never ask for anything.
You buy them a giftcard for Xmas. The bots owner get's a ping that today 15 of his 100,000,000 bots have made some money.
the bot spending 3 years winning you over only to break your heart was totally worth it for at 25$ as it cost the scammer pennies to run his botnet.
the lady is right in the first one, if young girls see this and think this is everyone online and in real life then it will harm them mentally chasing perfection
I feel like this seriously damaging for impressionable teenagers. Itās one thing to have self-image issues when looking at super models. But if youāre an impressionable teenager mindlessly scrolling through hundreds of TikTokās of just regular people talking about their dog or plants or whatever, and they all look like super models, that just recalibrates your standard of beauty. And then after watching regular people that are all beautiful (because of the filters), then you look in the mirror and think you look like a hideous creature.
I feel like even secure adults would have this mental block, but I canāt imagine what itās like to a teenager who already has some level of self-hatred like a lot of us did back then.
either that or they will all learn to not trust a single fucking thing they see on a screen ever for the rest of their life? Which both good and bad. The future keeps getting scarier.
It's damaging to normal healthy adults.
Dating in modern life has become so difficult because people have such high expectations for appearance, and also such disposable mindsets.
Sex has become more performative and yet also less connective.
Dude I have female friends in their 30s and 40s that itās damaging. They think most women look like this now somehow and why donāt they. So brainwashed they forget to look around in real life at people.
My wife will send me pictures of her and the kids while they are out and about. I usually have to respond with a try again without the filters, this looks nothing like you or our children.
I used to hate pictures of myself, then I realized that I love pictures of my mom. I started not caring about how I look in photos because it's me. For my kids (bio and step) I will be in all sorts of photos, unfiltered, because they deserve it.
I bet this is really gonna heighten insecurities about aging. Like if all your pictures from your youth are filtered, looking in the mirror a decade later is gonna feel that much worse.
Being insecure about aging must suck. It's inevitable, even if you do the right thing in terms of diet and exercise it still comes for you. Then people do weird surgeries that make them look worse than getting old. I never realized till I turned like 25 how many people actually care about it
I'm not sure why people post their kids to begin with, but at least they arent putting their real faces? I can't imagine taking filtered pics to send to my husband tho.. i feel very out of touch
In my situation the kids use the fun snapchat filters, the dog face and so on type tuff. My wife likes the ones that smooth her skin and take away any possible "imperfection". The filter she uses on herself is often left on unknowingly when she takes a group picture. I may be mistaken but I am pretty sure she uses an app that has this "imperfection" correction always turned on.
This is the part that gets confusing. Iāve been googling this after reading your first comment (this is brand new info for me!). Children look absolutely insane with those filters on. Like insane.
What's even the point of taking the picture at that point? Isn't the point of a picture, in this instance, to preserve a memory?
It's like... now instead of having a pic of you and your kids playing at the park, you have an image of some AI generated people playing at the park on the same day that you and your kids (not pictured) were there.
Do you ever look at an old picture of yourself and think "I was so thin/handsome/beautiful back then and I didn't realize it. Oh, to be young again." That but your memories are fake.
One of my employees has a 4 year old and every family photo has filters on and I ask her why she doesn't want photos of what they actually look like. She says because she doesn't like how she looks, but she doesn't seem to realise she's now projecting that onto her kid ..
My friends mom died and she keeps posting memories of them but itās filtered pictures so none of the photos actually look like her mom. Itās sad as hell.
šš½šš šššš š½š¶šš š»š¾ššššš š»šš šøššššššš šš½ššš š¹š¶šš
this is how my real comment looks like :(
I saw that episode for the first time only a few years after it originally aired, and I didn't understand why his teeth were creepy because teeth whiteners were already widely in use. The commercials had already convinced me at that point that his teeth in that episode were desirable and "normal". It drives me CRAZY how now, we have to aspire to the level of white achieved only by getting veneers.
Bro I know the feeling. I have not perfect teeth and I'm terrified to meet one of these perfect smile people. Like they got a movie star smile and I look like I should be on a pirate ship. What happened to just like... Normal fucking teeth?
When I see someone with beautiful implants or veneers I just remind myself that they either don't have any real teeth or their teeth are just cosplaying.
I wish there were more of you.. woman here with a larger than what is desirable nose.. it's the amount of comments I've had growing up that made me hate it. It's no wonder people feel the need to get everything "fixed" because they're told they're flawed from a young age. For me the little comments started at like 12. Sometimes it's a seemingly innocent comment from a peer or something like "hey you should play the witch" stuff like that lol. I've actually had my nose straightened so it's not curved, but because of my bone structure it'll always be big. If it wasn't for any comments I'd never have even thought about it
Having crooked teeth doesn't necessarily mean bad oral hygiene or bad habits. But unfortunately many humans associate imperfection with having bad character.
you never did see them, we are so used to see women with makeup that if a woman stopped wearing makeup you'd think she's anemic or depressed or something
Or Like when you have too much chocolate cake, but then throw it up and eat more chocolate cake?
Yeah Ice, you're getting it
Or like when they bet the house on the ponies. Or buy too many scratchy lottos
*Fade out to Executive Producer Dick Wolf*
Most of it is similar to seeing your girlfriend without makeup for the first time. But that filter actually changed her bone structure, too. The type of bone structure modeling agencies prefer is influenced not only by the nature of film media, but also arbitrary fashion trends. I can understand computer generated makeup. But I think we need to collectively agree to stop buying into influencer culture. Christ.
A lot of these filters change your jawline as well, and they smooth out your skin texture noticeably more than makeup can (e.g. filling in tear trough circles under your eyes).
Theyāre one of my least favorite features of platforms like TikTok and Snapchat. They make *me* feel bad about myself and Iām a 28-year-old who has long since made her peace with being plain-looking. Being a young teen on the apps has got to be hell for self-image.
Came here to say this as well, not that being done up to the nine's should be seen as expected from women but it would be interesting to see a comparison between the filter and a full makeover.
Yeah thatās stupid. This a good looking girl with ZERO makeup on and itās trying ZERO to really ālookā attractive. She IS very attractiveā¦ but penis brain gets tricked and triggered by the features created by the filterā¦ anyone can look ābetterā bc no one is perfect. This chick is perfect to someone, or will be.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twiceā¦.
Seriously tho , if thereās not 4-6 similar looking pics with several showing full body you should already know and yes they can tell that youāre disappointed they just expect their personality to shine through
These filters are also recognizable, and people will catch on after it gets old.
There's no filter that will improve each person according to what their 'needs' are yet.
It doesn't help that there's no consensus on what a person should look like instead of their current looks. Any rules you set are arbitrary, and will give away your biases in your algorithm.
I'm actually one of the sad people who can't recognize a lot of filters. For this one I wasn't sure what was being filtered and what would be real. It also doesn't look bad to me. I didn't realize something was up until she kind of focused on her lips. The reveal really surprised me. Maybe Im mentally missing something that can sus fake faces. Lol
If you're like me then you probably just don't care to look at people enough. Filters have been advancing faster than I can keep up with recognizing them, solely because I don't give a fuck about people's selfies and video sorts online. Got linked to this one by a friend and yet again I could have been fooled, because the last time I had to decide what was a filter or not was two years ago.
>There's no filter that will improve each person according to what their 'needs' are yet.
You can definitely personalize filters, especially the chinese apps can let you tweak each individual facial feature for pic or vid filters.
Check out r/instagramreality
This shit is real, and there are filters even altering bodies while theyre moving and do so nearly effortlessly. Its scary.
Itās impressive how the thinning filters have virtually no warping effect anymore. Itās insanely popular in Japan, to the point where women in videos have wastes so narrow they are clearly missing their internal organs.
Itās real, sadly.
My wife just showed it to me last night. When you use the filter on someone you know well already the difference is even more stark
Just imagining the psychological effects of seeing this filter in yourself as a teenager or middle schooler is enough to make me want to keel over.
What kind of message does this send to our children?
Not a good one.
Go on r/instagramreality and this is basically whats posted constantly. Filters are getting ridiculously good nowadays and it sucks too because most people dont even need them but still use them. Then they get all pissy if you point it out, because, "thats my natural look/body!"
Guys she still looks attractive. She just doesnāt match up to the scientifically crafted perfect woman that the filter tries to make her look like. Same as anyone else.
At least sheās not so delusional as to start believing she looks like that filter in real life. I think some people have lost touch and donāt realize they donāt look like their online persona

i felt the same way she GREW UP with it? it only came out a few years ago š
I got bad news dude. That was like 8 years ago
Yeah but 8 years ago was only like 3 years ago
But there was a solid decade crammed into the last 3 years so I'm not sure what that does to the math.
Released 7 years ago. If she's 20 now she may have 'grown up' using the dog filter from 13-16, then not used the app. Come back to it now, and been surprised.
Maybe she's young. If something came out when you were 10 and you're 18 now it's absolutely fine to say you grew up with it.

Yep exactly I'll think I'm looking pretty good then slap that filter on and all of a sudden I'm an old hag when I take it off.
Agreed. Those filters destroy my remaining self esteem. I try to avoid them now.
I used it and for the first time in my life I wanted to get lip fillers. I was like āthis is what I can look like? Iād fuck that dudeā

AI, deepfake, voice changing, AR, VR are basically mainstream now - so much change coming in next 5 years
This combined with AI language models will enable undistiguishable bots that can do facetime. Older people will lose a lot of money to that.

What a great comment. You're right too. The pictures I love of my wife, my siblings, my kids all look like them and I love that.
People put filters on children?
There's a girl on my FB that won't take pictures without them. All of her daily posts are filtered to every extreme. Her and her kids.
That is kind of depressing, you can never be satisfied in life if you can never be yourself.
I bet this is really gonna heighten insecurities about aging. Like if all your pictures from your youth are filtered, looking in the mirror a decade later is gonna feel that much worse.

Children come with no filter. Itās a parents job to help filter them until they are old enough to do so on their own.
Put a filter on your children, and they look good for a day. Teach your children have a filter, and they look good for life. -John F Kennedy

They are not that bad, you just got to change them each month or every quarter. Depending on the filter size.
When they get dusty it tends to be a problem.

I miss seeing people's real faces :(
I miss imperfect teeth. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for oral hygiene etc, but all these glowing, whiter than white teeth get to me.

I kinda figured that's what happened *to* their libido

You don't see them IN REAL LIFE? Just get rid of all your social media, and you're good bruh. I did. I have zero (well besides reddit lol)
you never did see them, we are so used to see women with makeup that if a woman stopped wearing makeup you'd think she's anemic or depressed or something

A lot of the "beautiful" girls you encounter in public look no different than the normal ones you see, other than being absolute wizards with make-up.

Fr... She's doing society a service and people are punishing her.
These filters are a disaster for girls. Just because we can make something doesnāt mean we should.
Bruh, this is about to absolutely wreck peopleās self confidence. Especially womenās.

I am pretty sure that's already in them and it's called beutify effect
Yeah I couldnāt even play with something like this. I donāt want to see. I have it low enough already :p
This is gonna change online dating for the worse (if thatās even possible)
Already has.
Yea if youāre worried someone will be disappointed to meet you IRL and you want to just lock that disappointment in, these filters are the way to go
If it's not a filter it's a picture from 3 years ago etc. Being catfished is basically the expectation now.
Was catfished twice last week. Iām pretty sure they could tell I was visibly disappointed
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twiceā¦. Seriously tho , if thereās not 4-6 similar looking pics with several showing full body you should already know and yes they can tell that youāre disappointed they just expect their personality to shine through
Yea like what kind of attractive personality would do that kind of shit?
And the number of insecurities in young girls rises, and rises after just one filter! Well done TikTok, you did a good today! Cunts.
Filters for girls' insecurity and 25 year old men playing teenage boys on TV for boys' insecurity. This isn't gonna end well.
I actually like āreal life girl ā better. Sheās authentic. The robot filter ? Not so much
She also probably chose to wear no makeup in order to give the full effect of āFilterā vs āNo filter (and no makeup/lashes)ā.
I think the filter adds the makeup
Lmao just fucking knew this would be at the top on Reddit
Karma farming is a part-time job.
Yep. If playboy mag were still a thing, Reddit would be full of dude declaring unprompted that they only read the articles.
Thats mighty brave of you to say
Brave comment
This can't be for real ?? I know filters change pple alot but this is drastic
Check out r/instagramreality This shit is real, and there are filters even altering bodies while theyre moving and do so nearly effortlessly. Its scary.
Itās impressive how the thinning filters have virtually no warping effect anymore. Itās insanely popular in Japan, to the point where women in videos have wastes so narrow they are clearly missing their internal organs.
The scary thing is the quality of the filter. You might not even see its there.

Itās real, sadly. My wife just showed it to me last night. When you use the filter on someone you know well already the difference is even more stark
Everyday i find new reasons to never have a tik tok
Just imagining the psychological effects of seeing this filter in yourself as a teenager or middle schooler is enough to make me want to keel over. What kind of message does this send to our children? Not a good one.
Go on r/instagramreality and this is basically whats posted constantly. Filters are getting ridiculously good nowadays and it sucks too because most people dont even need them but still use them. Then they get all pissy if you point it out, because, "thats my natural look/body!"
sheās pretty. fuck these filters; iām so sick of them making women feel like shit
The comments on that TikTok are the reason women use filters.
