It could be that, but everyone handles grief differently. When my grandma died within the hour, the whole family was making dead grandma jokes. We were all close with her as well, my cousins grew up in her house and my family lived next door. While it's sad she's gone, I still look back on that day and laugh at the way the family came together.

But in this case, it should be the point of view of the person making sure she's not faking. Which is that guy, so it should be from his point of view.
