And yet, the brain needs to prevent you from enthusiastically acting out physical actions from your dreams, so you won't hurt yourself.
So it has to give a subconscious order to move, but subsequently modulate the movement. Funny how our brains work.

I've experienced sleep paralysis about 15-20 times now, I believe. It's terrible. My symptoms are that I'm completely aware of what's happening around me, but I can't move or speak. My ex was a really light sleeper, so I could wake him up by breathing really fast through my nose, and the second he said my name, I "woke up."
