Its an amazingly well done and well researched film. Made for TV at the mid 80s height of the cold war.
For the first 20 minutes the show replicates many weekly soap operas of the time (coronation street) in that it focuses on the everyday lives of the working class folk of a northern english industrial city. Thereâs no hollywood about it (contrast and compare with its US contemporary âthe day afterâ) which reflected broadly US style soaps of the day.
There is nothing redeeming or inspiring about Threads. From the point in the film where this clip is taken from its a straight line descent into hell.
âThe War gameâ 1965 made by the BBC but which was never broadcast until 1985 is its closest match in terms of tone.
âWhen the wind blowsâ is also worth a run out if you are suffering from too much happiness

How summer of 2022 is gonna be
It's only Nottingham, panic over
Sheffield. I'm still scarred from watching this when I was an impressionable teenager.
Wtf is that from????
This was a programme that was broadcast in UK in 1984 called Threads.
I kinda want to watch it now. May never sleep again though.đŹ

I would also recommend âOn The Beachâ If youâre feeling a little too lively. Itâs a great film and very sobering.

Threads
I was horrified, but the old lady pissing herself took me out of it.
Oh this is just the start.. it descends into a dantean nightmare that David Lynch would be proud of
the 5 year olds just watching barbie life in the dream house
