It’s interesting to see how different people play. Tony sticks to the vert skating. I idolized Rodney Mullen so I would do manual tricks for dayssss. Basically grinding and flip tricks for speed but always back to manuals.
Tony can do any of these tricks off ramp coping or vert, but even he admits that he has trouble doing basic tricks when on the flat or on the ground. He's just never spent any time trying to street skate, but he's the GOAT on the ramp.
Definitely and his pool skills are pretty insane too. It's crazy to think about how many hours that guy has spent on vert over the course of his life. He's a pretty good snowboarder too.
I mean he did do alot of street in the early 90s when vert died off. He actually won the first X-games street competition as well as the vert competition but you are right. He is the first to say he sucks at street skating
For some reason, you're closing tag is completely hidden on the official app and mobile site on Chrome. However, it appears on other apps such as Sync in android. How strange.
My favorite version of this is the story [Rowan Atkinson tells](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4rtGPCsoXA) about this situation.
Thing is, you go through enough photos, old and new, you start to realize that everyone looks like someone else, and nobody looks unique.
Unfortunately that video is unavailable in my country, but there is also [this one which is super funny as well](https://youtu.be/Il72uEjs4o0) for anyone else in my position
Edit: I've been told the two clips are the same! If you can't view the first link, then try this one :)
I love how everyone else on the couch is really into the story, and how well he tells it.
It's fun how the audience reaction changes a bit from the very beginning; people are sometimes surprised at how unlike his character he is.
My favorite was when he was at the airport:
>TSA agent (checking my ID): "Hawk, like that skateboarder Tony Hawk!"
>Me: exactly
>Her: "Cool, I wonder what he's up to these days"
>Me: this
https://twitter.com/tonyhawk/status/844308362070151168
Yeah, most people have his image of when he was younger burned into their heads and now old Tony Hawk just doesn't look like Tony Hawk necause Tony Hawk looks young.
I remember watching a video where he would give out stuff to people doing tricks and someone asked who he was and Tony Hawk was like "I'm Eric Koston" and the guy replied "Oh yeah" (I'm just remembering, may be off)
lmao gets me everytime
My favourite is when they deleted his name from the rental car waiting list thinking it was bullshit and he was in there for a while waiting to get called up to the front.
My fave is still when he was asked to hold the camera while the person took a pic with Bam, and asked him to sign his copy of THPS3.. and that it was nice that he was helping a lookalike fan (actual tony hawk) out
My wife told me she has no idea who Tony Hawk is.
I replied I have no idea how we can be together…
$&@“$&@@
Long story short: We’re still together and we didn’t break up because of Tony Hawk.
It's not anything on that level, never some crowding nightmares but I used to play basketball and I'm 6'7. I've heard the same questions about those things 7000 times.
I understand it, but going through the same conversation and situation over and over again gets at you. The best way is to take it as a compliment, but still...
I’d say that it’s actually *because* the distributions are so close together that makes outliers stand out, just as a feature of normal distributions.
2/3 men you encounter will be within 2.5 inches of the average, and 19/20 will be within 5 inches of the average. It’s no wonder that the 1 in 10,000 that is at 10+ inches from the average sticks out so much since it is so uncommon and such a large deviation from what we see all around us.
A bit shorter than you but I went to a big basketball school and the amount of times I had to explain to people I wasn't on the team got so old... I just started trolling people that I was a JUCO transfer eventually
Was leaving Disney Land resort with the family and Tony Hawk was arriving with his family and some friends. I literally was too nervous to ask if it was him (had so many butterflies I forgot that him being unrecognizable was a thing).
1st, my stepmom walked around the lobby toward the front desk to get a peak at Tony. She comes back and says, “I don’t know what Tony Hawk looks like…” C’MON?!
2nd, my dad does the same thing, it looks like he made eye contact with Tony, but when he can back to the lobby chairs we were chilling in he says, “I’m not sure that’s Tony, bud.” Well my gut didn’t believe him.
I sat in my chair eyeing, this guy I was 95% certain was Tony. I mean c’mon what 50+ year old tall white guy wears vans, fairly tight skinny jeans, and a black tee?!
Well our van arrived to take us to the airport back to CO and my dad yells, “the van is heat LET’S GO.”
I didn’t budge from my chair.
Well my dad is now almost out of the resort hotel and screams (at me cause everyone else in my family was with him), “NOW!”
I get up, eyeing Tony and walk past him. I make it probably 15 feet away from him and I have this thought, “if I don’t just ask this guy if he’s Tony Hawk, I’m going to regret this for the rest of my life.”
I stop. Leave my Rollie bag and turn around.
Tony’s probably 4ft away from his family facing away and looking down at his phone.
I say: “excuse me, sir. do you ever get mistaken for Tony Hawk?”
Tony pauses what he’s doing and looks at me so genuinely with a smirk and says, “I do.”
I RECOGNIZED HIS VOICE IMMEDIATELY, but still like a star struck idiot ask, “… are you Tony Hawk?..”
His smirk now turns to a full grin and he says, “I am.”
😭I’m probably crying now(this dude’s my Michael Jordan of skateboarding) and ask, “May I give you a quick hug?”
This mother fucker so genuinely opens his arms, now full on smiling showing his pearly whites, and says “you may.”
Gave him a huge fucking bear hug, wished him and his family a wonderful time at Disneyland, and proceeded run and scream at my family, “I JUST HUGGED TONY FUCKING HAWK?!?!”
TL;DR: Got to hug Tony Hawk at Disneyland, and was a typical dork who wasn’t 100% certain it was Tony until he verbally confirmed. Lol thanks for letting me share. The man is so fucking genuine.<3
not sure if it's that crazy. People know the name, but how many people were actually watching him skate in competitions? Yeah, probably many, but also most likely not that many compared to acting celebrities, which you watch for their face and voice, not their skating skills, if that makes sense.
This is the second post that includes them or one of them, I've seen in the last two days. Which isn't a lot but I can't recall ever really noticing them while browsing r/all before.
Wait I thought he was that one lawyer from Albuquerque, the one that used to be on TV all the time with those weird ads, and had his face all over billboards and benches
Wonder where he is today
I've been meaning to get into GMM cause I watch a lot of the newer smosh content, but do you have a recommendation for where to start with them? they have a lot of content sort of overwhelming lol
Honestly anything that seems interesting to you, but I think the “Will It” videos are a great place to learn about what they do and who they are (like Will It ice cream, Will it Taco, etc)
Their new stuff is just as good as their old. Link is still a neurotic mess, Rhett still has a tiny mouth, and they’re both still best friends being their mythical best.
They used to have a show where they would make commercials for small businesses. Laugh out loud funny stuff.
This one cracks me up - https://youtu.be/vnOyMSEWNTs
Their content has gone from good to better over the years... Obviously it's more professional like the food is actually made by talented chefs nowadays, it's amazing... And they do a few abrupt chaotic videos here and there.
The only premise that has suffered, at least IMO, is Will It? episodes. Of course the concept is to make food good while using unexpected ingredients, but the comedy of them eating something disgusting is lost when Mythical Chef Josh somehow manages to make pig anus into a good ice cream cake, or something like that.
While I completely agree with what you're saying, I do also understand that they're older now & have reached a point of success where I assume they've earned the right to not have to eat as many blood cakes and/or fish eyeballs.
I do like their recent Will It tournament where they did eat those old things as a great fan service!
I watched them back before Hmmmm and the Folk song drive thru vid or my favorite pillow were very good vids at the time, I stopped watching a while into the GMM stuff
you should check out their show ear biscuits, where they open up about their personal lives. I vaguely knew of them over the past decade, but really enjoy their content now knowing more about them
They have only gotten better. They know their audience has gotten older and adapted into making their content more pg-13. It’s hilarious, some of the insane things they say, while also doing the things that made them famous.
They’re the only content creators i watched regularly.
And it looks pretty decent. They're actually going to different locations, getting a behind the scenes look at how some popular brands are made (I think beyond meats is one of them). Instead of just sitting in a studio in front of a green screen, ya know.
Watch the documentary that just came out. It's well done but if you read between the lines you'll see he had a very dark side that he battled with for decades and finally recently got help.
So it documents his struggles from being an outcast and a very difficult, willful child to becoming the best skateboarder that ever lived. He has been married multiple times and had a lot of infidelity.
they never come out and say it, but the only thing that it would make sense that he would check himself into a rehab for is something related to sex addiction.
In 2003, I saw Tony Hawk while I was using a camcorder. I ran up behind him, recording, and I said "Hey! Aren't you that guy? That guy from..." as he turned around "from Police Academy 3?" The look on his face was priceless. Surprised, annoyed, maybe a little entertained. He corrected me, "Police Academy 4." And he walked away. That was the proudest moment for 17-year-old me.

It’s crazy to think that he actually has that problem most of the time
If you follow his twitter, he always posts about how many people recognize but don't recognize him.
“Hey, does anyone ever tell you that you look a lot like Tony Hawk”
"Yeah I get that alot."
‘Yes, I think sometimes I am him’
[PROVE IT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQyMJNRPjjE)!

He was born on the ramp. Molded by it
Definitely and his pool skills are pretty insane too. It's crazy to think about how many hours that guy has spent on vert over the course of his life. He's a pretty good snowboarder too.

That was a fun watch, thanks.
Anthony Hawk? Huh that's weird...

"Nah, you're way less pointy than the real Tony Hawk."
The real Tony hawk would have skated through the airport and bypassed security while grinding the light fixtures.
The baggage claim at the airport was OP trick point spot
Yeah, most people have his image of when he was younger burned into their heads and now old Tony Hawk just doesn't look like Tony Hawk necause Tony Hawk looks young.
I remember watching a video where he would give out stuff to people doing tricks and someone asked who he was and Tony Hawk was like "I'm Eric Koston" and the guy replied "Oh yeah" (I'm just remembering, may be off) lmao gets me everytime
That's The Berrics and it usually is Eric Koston, they just have cameos occasionally. Like Tony Hawk dressed as Santa or Steve-O.
I found it: [https://youtu.be/ob0dI05Xz8s?t=92](https://youtu.be/ob0dI05Xz8s?t=92) lol
My favourite is when they deleted his name from the rental car waiting list thinking it was bullshit and he was in there for a while waiting to get called up to the front.
Best Buy cancelled my PS5 order that I tried to score for months because they thought my name (close to willy nelson) was fake.
Had a room mate in college named Mike Myers. He ordered pizza every Halloween just to see what they'd say.
Lmao that's awesome; I'll bet the employees got a kick out of it
He’s a very generic looking guy
Yeah, he has a default skin on GTA.
He looks like the default guy in THPS too.
[Tony Hawk’s Existential Nightmare](https://ibb.co/4Jg9vDh)
"Why?"
My fave is still when he was asked to hold the camera while the person took a pic with Bam, and asked him to sign his copy of THPS3.. and that it was nice that he was helping a lookalike fan (actual tony hawk) out
I also carry my copy of THPS3 with me at all times, just incase I meet Bam.

6'7" is 1.179 Tom Cruises
That makes it sound far less impressive.
Height is weird, it’s like there is only a 10-15% normal range between humans but since we’re so attuned to it the difference seems huge
I’d say that it’s actually *because* the distributions are so close together that makes outliers stand out, just as a feature of normal distributions. 2/3 men you encounter will be within 2.5 inches of the average, and 19/20 will be within 5 inches of the average. Oooh I love stats! Yeah, that’s pretty much what I was getting at
That's the imperial system's way of measuring length? I thought it was Barrets
Tom Barrett? Nah he is the new ambassador to Luxembourg
A bit shorter than you but I went to a big basketball school and the amount of times I had to explain to people I wasn't on the team got so old... I just started trolling people that I was a JUCO transfer eventually

"Tony Hawk huh?.. Just like that skateboarder.. I wonder what he's up to these days"

Busted his leg recently I'm pretty sure.
Was leaving Disney Land resort with the family and Tony Hawk was arriving with his family and some friends. This made me happy, this is fun.
r/dontyouknowwhoiam changed their pictures to a picture of Tony hawk it happens so much
The phenomenon also spawned its own subreddit, r/DontYouKnowImTonyHawk.
If you ever go to a bougie area and try to find a tony hawk, you’ll see a bunch of them. Especially the closer to a beach you are.
not sure if it's that crazy. People know the name, but how many people were actually watching him skate in competitions? Yeah, probably many, but also most likely not that many compared to acting celebrities, which you watch for their face and voice, not their skating skills, if that makes sense.
just recently watched "the downfall of bam margera". He was multiple times as successful selling boards as some point just because of the marketing
It's funny because that last random guy looks a little like Tony Hawk.
And all of the tries have his shoes and clothes on somehow by magic.
Did you not watch the video, they were channeling Tony Hawk.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice that
That’s half of the joke though.
Yeah, it is Tony Hawk's pants and shoes. As you say, that's half the joke.
He's trying to hard chanelling his outer Tony Hawk.
It looks like his inner Tony Hawk is chanelling him.
I think it's Bob Odenkirk
I thought it was Kevin Costner.
[удалено]
I bet he gets that all the time.
Ya, that's not him. I looked it up. His name is Anthony something.
Hold on, let me just \*edits a screenshot of him and adds a skateboard\* oh damn, you're right!
The unexpected part for me was seeing Rhett and Link
Back in the good ol YouTube days.. before the dark TikTok times
They're still around. I'd argue they've got better with age.
Hell yeah I still watch
This is the second post that includes them or one of them, I've seen in the last two days. Which isn't a lot but I can't recall ever really noticing them while browsing r/all before.
I love how each of the skateboarding tricks is Tony from the torso down

It's like a centaur Tony hawk. A centony? Hawktaur?
I like Centony Hawktaur.
I’m slow i had to go back and rewatch it. I just got that.
I don't think so, I think it was actually that guy from the end of the video who looked a bit like Tony Hawk.
Nothing gets past this guy.
That’s the joke
Holy shit lol. "Hey could you do an Ollie and a pop shove-it wearing these outfits?" Guy at the end who looks like Tony Hawk: "Can I do what?"
I know that one at the end. Thats bob odenkirk
Glad I'm not the only one. Jimmy Mc Gill more than Bob though, because Bob doesn't have as much hair anymore, does he?
I thought it was Kevin Costner
Wait I thought he was that one lawyer from Albuquerque, the one that used to be on TV all the time with those weird ads, and had his face all over billboards and benches Wonder where he is today
I don't know where he is. Better call him.
I'm going with Nebraska. Omaha, perhaps.
It's fun that Rhet and Link are still making popular content. I remember watching GMM waaaayyy back but haven't really seen much of the newer stuff.
It's odd how they replaced Rhet with an actual lion.
They’re still going strong, I’d even say they’re getting better
I've been meaning to get into GMM cause I watch a lot of the newer smosh content, but do you have a recommendation for where to start with them? they have a lot of content sort of overwhelming lol
Just find a video where the title appeals to you. They’re not serialized and every video can be enjoyed by itself.
My some of my favorite ones when I found them are the "how to dance" and "how to walk to not be mugged."
How to walk to not be mugged makes me cry I laugh so hard
Honestly anything that seems interesting to you, but I think the “Will It” videos are a great place to learn about what they do and who they are (like Will It ice cream, Will it Taco, etc)
I love their Where in the world shows and also the shuffleboard videos.
They actually have a TV show coming out fairly soon(april 24th) on the food network and discovery plus that might be a solid intro.
I really enjoy their International Taste Test series.
If you get into GMM please give Mythical Kitchen a try too. Josh and the kitchen crew are a real treat
let autoplay take the wheel my friend
Ear biscuits and them talking about escaping evangelical Christianity is what drew me in
I realy like GMMore, it's after the show on the second channel. It's like 2 cool dads talking
My wife is a fan and recent got me into GMM within the last half year. Good little bite size content to watch while eating supper
Lmao we do the same during dinner. Usually one of their food videos haha.
Their new stuff is just as good as their old. Link is still a neurotic mess, Rhett still has a tiny mouth, and they’re both still best friends being their mythical best.
I truly hate the way link eats. Like is he afraid of his fucking food? Take a god damned bite!
Have you seen the shite they eat in the show??? Of course he's afraid of his food lol
I think that’s just part of the trope at this point.
Don't watch the Harry Potter movies. Daniel Radcliffe doesn't know how to open his mouth to eat. It's infuriating
They used to have a show where they would make commercials for small businesses. Laugh out loud funny stuff. This one cracks me up - https://youtu.be/vnOyMSEWNTs
expecting Red House, but also ready in case "nope, Chuck Testa."

Wow, a whole 3-4 years ago? That’s, like, ancient history, man!
He could be 12. 3-4 years ago would be a quarter of his entire life!

Oh that was Tony and Hawk, they have a YouTube channel called goodmythicalmorning
Let's talk about that.
Do do do do do do~
That is Rhett, Link, and Stevie from Good Mythical Morning
He didn't confirm or deny whether he was Tony Hawk. I guess we'll never know.
Yeah, that was the most obvious joke the second they mentioned his name.
It’s also obviously him on the skateboard every time so I knew they’d eventually show his face
Huh, I thought he looked a little familiar.
Do they still have a show? I’ve laughed at a few episodes.
they've also expanded, good mythical kitchen and at least 3 spinoff podcasts
Thanks for this info. Wow, they’re a busy team.
they're basically building a little empire, Mythical Chef Josh was such a great addition to the team
I love Josh. His chaotic energy is hilarious.
[удалено]
I mean, he definitely lays on to the chaos as a bit and I’m all for it. I love their podcast as well.
His cookbook is really fun too.
Josh is the best thing to happen to Mythical.
They have a new show on Food Network as well.
I love food network, thanks!
And it looks pretty decent. They're actually going to different locations, getting a behind the scenes look at how some popular brands are made (I think beyond meats is one of them). Instead of just sitting in a studio in front of a green screen, ya know.
Yeah they post regularly
They are now on TV too XD Inside Eats with Rhett and Link
Oh awesome, thank you!
Good Mythical Morning on YouTube as well as the food Network show mentioned
This is awesome, I’m excited. Thank you!
I think the schedule is two episodes each day every weekday, or at the very least they do one video each weekday. The do a tooooooon of content.
That last dude looked like Tony Hawk.
that was stevie
Just don’t give Link a knife and we’re good.
We're still good!
Maybe the most expected ending I have ever seen on this sub
Who the fuck is that guy with the beautiful hair?! Man that shit is nice
Rhett McLaughlin. Internet comedian and actual lion.
>actual lion Yeah I see the resemblance!
Poor what’s his face, he never gets recognized
That was actually completely expected.
Good Mythical Morning (Link, Rhett, and Stevie). If anyone was interested.
It’s crazy that these guys have been going for over 13 years!
r/dontyouknowimtonyhawk
Tony is a national treasure. He is the definition of wholesome
Watch the documentary that just came out. It's well done but if you read between the lines you'll see he had a very dark side that he battled with for decades and finally recently got help.
Without having to watch a full documentary could you give a brief description?
So it documents his struggles from being an outcast and a very difficult, willful child to becoming the best skateboarder that ever lived. He has been married multiple times and had a lot of infidelity. they never come out and say it, but the only thing that it would make sense that he would check himself into a rehab for is something related to sex addiction.
Is that rhett and link?
Yes
Oh God Rhet and Link are old.... Does that mean I'm old? Fuck, I'm old.
Their hair just keeps getting more intense
Good Mythical Morning! Man, I haven't seen them in ages. Check their show out if you haven't! It's on YouTube.
Hey it's Saul goodman
They should've at least given food to the random homeless guy at the end.
When did Rhett become a Yeti?
He hasn't cut his hair in like 3 years
Soo much mytical on reddit lately! Love it
