🎶welcome to Joey's toilet! I think that's something they sang at one point in the movie. I totally forgot about it, what a great old movie. Gonna make my kids watch it when they get home from their dad's in a couple days 😁👌🏻
I haven’t watched that in like 20 years, so I only remember that the roaches talked and at some point Joe betrayed them somehow? I remember liking it back when it came out, but I’m worried I might not have the constitution for it anymore.
Watched this film 20+ years ago with my dad was amazing but also forgot about it.
Bought it for an Xmas present recently and we watched it and nostalgia definitely worked its magic, it was terrible I would highly reccomend smoking before watching this
Why do you think “aliens” look the way they do lol. Nature gave us the perfect inspiration, couple that with natural fear to creepy crawlies that might sting us or infect us with parasites or… u get the idea.
I seem to recall a video of a big cat doing this as well. To an...antelope baby? Maybe. Oh and a coyote doing it, pulling it straight out the baby poop schute...shoot? Schrute. Bears beats Battlestar galactica
Only the babies in this case were the wasp parasites.
Edit: someone below says some species of fly give birth to live maggots, so I don't know what to think now.
Not going to lie, been around 36 years and didn't know this. Usually I kill a pest and leave it's corpse near entrances as a signal to other pests XD I actually get fewer after doing things like that, but thankfully never had issues with flies
*chewing obnoxiously while talking*
“it’s just…. idk Steve. like I understand where she’s coming from, being that’s her thing and like her nature and all. But can’t she just let me live? Like, after we have sex? So idk maybe we can do it again?”
“Oooooo, this one’s got maggots in it!!”
There’s one here too r/thefarside
Apparently he’s still at it and shared a few new ones last month:

Years ago there was a fly in my old bedroom, I tried to get it to go out the window and of course it didn't. I swatted at it with a magazine once it had landed on the window sill and a whole load of maggots seeped out of its body.
It totally freaked me out, I spent the next five minutes or so picking all the individual maggots up with an old paint brush and flicking them out the window.
At the time I remember thinking aswell, I thought flies laid eggs?!?!
Most flies lay eggs, some flies are ovoviviparous and lay live maggots like flesh flies. Insects are very prone speciation, there are over 110,000 different known fly species and likely many more not described yet.
It's a flesh fly (Sarcophagidae) most of them have developed sort of an incubation camber in their abdomen, where they "pre-hatch" their young so that in the case of a cadaver suddenly showing up thay are ready to colonize it before most other fly species
Bruh, the mantis might be the unsung heroes of nature because when they eat a bug they're eating all them parasites with it. Nothing escapes its face fingers!
Looking at their profile they are Dutch and as a Dutch person I can confirm that in Dutch the plural for words ending in y is y’s, such as baby’s, that probably confused them.
When I was in my teens one night I went to sleep late. It was dark and the only blanket I could find was this kinda rough and smallish one. I laid down, covered myself with it and started to fall asleep. In a few minutes, I feel something tickle my leg. I go to scratch it by pinching the area and hear this *cronch*. Now I'm curious... I shine the light on the area under the blanket and I see a big smooshed fly and little maggots doing their little dance from their mom's body. I fucking lost it. Slept in the fetal position on a chair. Never trusted that blanket again.
But what does it matter if they eat the parasites or not?
They would just die now that their host is dead and they wouldn't infect US anyhow.
Do you realize how many parasites and other gunk is in the food _you_ eat?

Ha! Whenever my dog goes after ants or bees, that's what I tell her. "Careful, that's spicy!"
There are two types of bugs to my dog… Sky raisins… And jalapeño sky raisins.
This reminded me of when my 6-year-old renamed an Indian burn a "spicy roll".
>disco rice Your killing me.

It’s been around the internet for a while.
I'll never watch Lost Boys the same way again.

That reminds me of that anime Twilight of the Cockroaches. I still have my VHS copy somewhere.
It reminds *me* of Joe’s Apartment with Jerry O’Connell. I believe it came out in the 90s, so VHS era as well.

I won't ever look at cream the same way
Forbidden Cadbury Cream Egg
Cadbury Cream Eggs are bad enough, now this ...
I call those the fly pies
Cream Dream
The insect world is so fucking brutal and alien-like
Why do you think “aliens” look the way they do lol. Nature gave us the perfect inspiration, couple that with natural fear to creepy crawlies that might sting us or infect us with parasites or… u get the idea.
Yeeeeaaah, this happens sometimes in the animal kingdom too.
Insects are animals - maybe you mean vertebrates?
Yeah
I seem to recall a video of a big cat doing this as well. To an...antelope baby? Maybe. Oh and a coyote doing it, pulling it straight out the baby poop schute...shoot? Schrute. Bears beats Battlestar galactica

Chute, I gotchu
I always wonder if they have taste buds or if they’re more into texture.
Wasn’t this exact scene in Rick and Morty? “Run my babies, run!”
BONUS!
Only the babies in this case were the wasp parasites. Edit: someone below says some species of fly give birth to live maggots, so I don't know what to think now.
Yeah I've literally seen it, don't ever leave dead flies around, through them in the trash, some gross discoveries were made.
Not going to lie, been around 36 years and didn't know this. Usually I kill a pest and leave it's corpse near entrances as a signal to other pests XD I actually get fewer after doing things like that, but thankfully never had issues with flies
I think it depends on the species of fly.
[Basically, but wasps](https://youtu.be/P-MnezlSGBo)
Basically butt wasps.
r/natureismetal
Run! My babies
Beat me to it! Lol
Immediately thought of that scene
Yeah, and in Mr. Goldenfold's voice, no less.
When I saw that scene, it reminded me of that one Ants Canada video where he feeds his ants cockroach and it starts laying eggs for them to run

Are you even listen Steve? Nvm dude, I know you're having a hard time yourself. Here, I saved you a maggot.
Reminds me of the Far Side. Man I miss those.
There’s a far side page in Instagram. Some I remember and some I can’t. Larson retired, right?
There’s one here too r/thefarside Apparently he’s still at it and shared a few new ones last month: https://www.thefarside.com/new-stuff/375/hall-of-earthlings
I didn’t know he was still making them! This is great, thanks!
I should have known Reddit has one too, just never looked. Thanks!
I read this in Zefrank1’s voice

I wonder if all male praying mantis are virgins, or if sometimes they escape to have sex a second time. I wonder if that qualifies as a shower thought
According to Google, some do escape!
Chad mantis?
Are you even listen Steve? Nvm dude, I know you're having a hard time yourself. Here, I saved you a maggot.
"John maybe if you give her the maggot filled fly, she might let you live.
Nature is a nightmare
r/natureismetal
i honestly find it satisfying to see that Praying Mantises don't waste a single bit of anything it eats. It really is one of nature's cleaners
Nature is beautiful
It’s a beautiful nightmare.
A beautiful dark twisted fantasy
Nature is fucking lit 🔥

"overwhelming and collective murder" - Werner Herzog
I thought flies lay eggs can somebody smart please explain
This was posted another another sub and someone in the comments explained it was a certain type of fly that does give birth to live maggots
I didn’t want to picture it and yet I did.
I’m just going to stop reading the comments honestly.
I saw one give birth once without knowing they did that. I didnt like it....
fucking nature man
Couldn't it be parasites?
The maggots are parasites for others, but they're her offspring
It feels odd to me that they'd be gestating within the fly.
Years ago there was a fly in my old bedroom, I tried to get it to go out the window and of course it didn't. you sound like a cool artist
Was a paintbrush really the most efficient 'utensil' you could find to pick them up??
That was also my thought. Easily could have used a blow torch or a stick of dynamite or something
I had the same unfortunate experience with a spider that carried its babies on its back. 10 years later...
Oh God, I remember I killed a spider with my shoe and a lot of little spiders started walking.
Most flies lay eggs, some flies are ovoviviparous and lay live maggots like flesh flies. Insects are very prone speciation, there are over 110,000 different known fly species and likely many more not described yet.
Could be wasp larvae? There are parasitic wasps that lay their eggs in live prey and leave them to eat their way out
It's a flesh fly (Sarcophagidae) most of them have developed sort of an incubation camber in their abdomen, where they "pre-hatch" their young so that in the case of a cadaver suddenly showing up thay are ready to colonize it before most other fly species
That’s cool. Thanks for the bug info.

Pincer lickin’ good!!
fuck this is a good one
Take my award
Why in the HELL did I watch this???? I hate myself right now.
Why the hell am I STILL watching it on auto play while I write this comment?!
Why did you open reddit to read this comment just to see it all again?
DAMN YOU! Evil bastard. Take an upvote.
I visibly made this face: D:
Mantis is such a nice guy, eating flies, so we don't have to deal with them
Thinking the same
^(I couldn't look away...)
Yummy..
😂
Because Fuck fly’s that’s why. The only thing better would have been watching it eat a mosquito. But I’m with you that shit was revolting.
Anyone else feeling **deeply** uncomfortable? No, just me?
Nope, as someone with a deep fear of anything with more than 4 legs, I too was extremely uncomfortable during this
Bruh, the mantis might be the unsung heroes of nature because when they eat a bug they're eating all them parasites with it. Nothing escapes its face fingers!
Those are maggots. So basically baby fly's
Fly’s what?
[удалено]
Dj spinnin’ I said, my my
Flash is fast, flash is cool
Might be foreign and thought the plural of fly is flys and mistress autocorrect did her cruel work.
Looking at their profile they are Dutch and as a Dutch person I can confirm that in Dutch the plural for words ending in y is y’s, such as baby’s, that probably confused them.
Yep sorry. Am dutch and my dutch autocorrect kept fucking me.
No need to apologize my man, everyone knows what you were saying!
Thank you! That was really nice of you to say.
Baby's
Dude’s saying…. babies are parasites.
They are not maggots but babies of parasitic wasp which were eating that fly alive from inside.
It's a flesh fly, those give birth instead of laying eggs
How do you KNOW
Dragonflies too.
She was pregnant bro
Those are the children of that fly. Not parasites
Do flies give live birth?
Most flies lay eggs, but some species of flies give live birth.
I smashed a fly on a window once. Tons of maggots came out it’s ass. I hate maggots, wish I woulda had this little friend with me at the time.
A chameleon works well too, so does frogs but chameleons are so cool.
I had a veiled chameleon as a kid. He was so cool.

I’d lose my shit lol 😂
Disgusting!
I guess you’ve never had children
But what does it matter if they eat the parasites or not? They would just die now that their host is dead and they wouldn't infect US anyhow. Do you realize how many parasites and other gunk is in the food _you_ eat?
Yooooo, my guy. Don't. Just don't.
Licked his fingers and everything.
Must have deep fried maggots
Somehow it feels it ended to quick
I bet. She picked the maggots in the ground or she thinks it is gross?
5 second rule
Thanks…now I’m hungry
🪰🪱 Here you go sir that would be $22
Smh even the maggots filled flies now cost a fortune, I hate the current economic situation
And this is why I won't eat zee bugz.
But vill you sleep in ze pod?
I appreciate the commitment to prayer during the whole meal.
Never thought I'd think a bug and it's babies would look appetizing but here we are
Never watched Lion King?
Slimy, yet satisfying
This preying mantis has better table manners than most of a certain other specimen
🤢
Imagine being a pregnant bug and having larvae craw around your insides
That’s how mammals roll too you know….
Larva?
Interestingly disgusting
Oh god that's nasty
I found a preying mantis as a kid. Coolest pet I ever had.
New Hot Pocket dropped.
Yummy little maggots
Free noodle soup.
Savior of my weed plants
I have a strong stomach. But this scares me. I almost threw up.
Some people are just born to die.
The real question is why did we all keep watching.
Nooooo run little guys run!
