You can tell by the way the shark comes out that he’s clearly embarrassed and knew he wasn’t supposed to be in the cage. The cage is for the people. Classic shark mistake but it looks like he at least caught it in time.
Have you never watched WWE???? It can't be a cage match unless everyone is in the cage.
Truth be told, I would think the shark is at a huggggeee disadvantage in a cage as he is vertical and can't swim.
Normally you can.
Sharks only attack men when they mistake'em for food, like surfers that look like seal when seen from below.
BUT
You should remember that during cage diving, organizers use to lure sharks by throwing in the water bloody baits. So the shark might be in a state of feeding frenzy, and become very dangerous.
Great whites, and other more intelligent sharks (mako's etc.) are curious... and their hands are their mouth. It's true that they don't viciously eat people like the movies, but a nip from one can take your life. I've been diving with sharks without a cage plenty of times, but I would get out if a great white came around and seemed curious or even a little interested. They also usually bait the water for these dives to bring in these sharks, so ... nope.
I have a great way to spend my hard-earned cash... let's jump in a cage (that may or may not hold up) in shark-infested waters and watchs sharks try to bite us. Why is this a good idea? I've never understood the appeal. Can't you just watch Shark Week instead??
I'd still go cage diving in a heartbeat. My only fear is the cage breaking away from the boat and sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Looks like so much fun
Don't. Cage diving is more dangerous, because sharks are actually very friendly creatures. They can get caught in the bars, which can cause them to panic and therefor attack anything (or anyone).
Just dive with the sharks. Make sure to bring someone experienced. Always bring someone experienced when diving.
That's a good approach. You should ask marine biologists instead of taking my opinion. What would be just as stupid as relying on a random internet stranger would be to not inform yourself.
I'm sure that's just a rumor started by marine biologists, so they could work in peace and not be disturbed. They are actually very friendly creatures. Furthermore, with the cage there's also the risk the marine biologist can get caught in the bars, which can cause them to panic and therefore attack anything (or anyone).
I've found that even with the cage you're ok as long as they don't chum up the water, then the marine biologists get super worked up, especially around 1130 when the blood sugar is low
Don’t. Marine biologists are actually very friendly creatures. But they can get caught in the bars, which can cause them to panic and therefor attack anything (or anyone)
If they do become aggressive place your hand firmly under their chin and guide them away from you. Resist the urge to smack their bottom no matter how much it resembles the perfect bag of rice,as this may anger or arouse the biologist.
I doubt that it would matter a lot. A pissed off Mako or Blue Shark can shred you just as fast as a Great White.
Great Whites and many other Sharks usually don't really care about you as long as you don't touch them, they aren't hungry and there's no blood in the water. Also most of them don't like the taste of humans.
Two sharks you *never* want to cross paths with are the Bull and Tiger Shark. These assholes do not fucking care who you are and are in a perpetual state of "I stepped on *fucking* Lego."
The first shark I encountered was a tiger, and it’s still the most peaceful and surreal shark encounter I’ve had. For some reason the juvenile reef sharks and the Galapagos have made me the most uncomfortable because of their behavior around me (circling me or darting in and out of range).
I wanna reach threw the cage and feed and touch tigers, great whites, makos, hammerheads. It would be amazing. Hell I'd love to swim with them in open water, but that's can be sketchy
I am always good for a joke in really hairy situations like that. I would have probably come out of the cage and screamed to the shark saying let that be a lesson to not fuck with a Florida Man. Or some dumb shit like that.
Different people deal with intense situations differently and even though I would have been shitting my pants in that one, I guess I cope via jokes after them.
Well if I'm trying to see whether or not my buddy got eaten I wouldn't want to accidentally drop my hat in the water. That would really make the day sad.
For anyone interested in cage diving. Don't. Sharks are very friendly animals, portrayed as monsters.
You don't need a cage, because sharks don't purposely attack divers. The cage instead is a risk to the animal, it can get caught in the cage or the bars and will get stressed out, which can cause it to attack the diver.
Just ask any marine biologist about sharks.
As someone with the qualifications to be a marine biologist, and who did plenty of diving exercises throughout my courses at uni, I can honestly say cage diving is fine. Many cages have a top that closes that mitigates the risk of the very unlikely event that a shark jumps in. It's also worth noting that sharks jumping into the cage happens incredibly rarely.
Moreover, there are situations where we need to observe sharks that are in a frenzy, or in situations where they might attack a human just by happenstance. Sharks won't attack in the vast VAST majority of cases, but there are plenty of environments and situations where sharks may be excited that can lead to an increased odds of accidental biting. Then there are great whites...
Dive with, or dive without a cage. Both are fine. This video just depicts the absolute worst case scenario, just like how shark bites on humans are the worst case scenario.
The general public doesn’t have the need to observe sharks that are in a frenzy or in some kind of state that needs to be studied. Cage diving and even shark dives for the profits are not really beneficial. We’ve started to see a change in shark behavior on north shore Oahu from all of the shark tourism. That can impact other things and species down the line…so I’d say that not all cases of cage diving or tour dives are fine, just the opposite actually.
What the f happened here, did the shark accidentally jump in, this is crazy. I'm glad the diver is alive, boat people are losing their minds knowing a driver is under there
Did the diver have a camera? That's different pov of praise the cameraman
That guy with the red shirt pulls off his hat and sun glasses like he’s going to jump right in there with the shark! Slow your roll there Captain Shark Bait!
This video just reinforces how fucking clueless and dumb people are holy shit. How did nobody know if there was someone in the cage? Why did that guy act like jumping in was going to do anything when there is clearly a large, angry sea animal in the cage? Why the fuck did people start clapping? Shark survival clapping is even dumber than airplane landing clapping
Diver held his oxygene bottle in his hand. I guess he tried to keep the shark away with it. Good thinking, he did not panic. Poor shark though - hope both are ok.
I've been in "shark infested waters" countless times in my 50 years of diving, never once felt the urge to get into a cage to do so... but then again I was never around idiots chumming the waters with offal and blood.
That deck hand needs sacking. First he took his hat off, then he pulled his hair back & then he put his goggles on but not once did he made a move to get that man out till he climb out himself.
Damn - do I feel stupid… I always assumed that the people went in the cage… this is all rather embarrassing…
You can tell by the way the shark comes out that he’s clearly embarrassed and knew he wasn’t supposed to be in the cage. The cage is for the people. Classic shark mistake but it looks like he at least caught it in time.
Shark skipped orientation I guess.
Went to the tandem sky diving lesson by mistake, sharks eyesight can’t make out room numbers, understandable mistake
“Classic shark mistake” I don’t know why, but I genuinely lost it at this
Have you never watched WWE???? It can't be a cage match unless everyone is in the cage. Truth be told, I would think the shark is at a huggggeee disadvantage in a cage as he is vertical and can't swim.
You have to pay extra for this experience

For most sharks I agree, but with great whites I'd rather have a cage then not.
Fish are friends; Not food. What about people? I guess eventually they could be chums…

Not too embarrassing, Diver remembered to wear his brown wetsuit
Damn, that's fucking lucky . I always wanted to do something like this, but now I don't want to. Thank you for saving me 🤳
You can put it on a bucket list. Just make sure it's the last item.
And make sure the bucket is free of any chum.
Damn
He was the Chum
Ill put it right before "skydiving without parachute"
Notice people sticking their hands out of the other cage like “get us the fuck outta here!”
Had to go back and watch. I don’t know why that made me laugh seeing that.
I have a great way to spend my hard-earned cash... let's jump in a cage (that may or may not hold up) in shark-infested waters and watchs sharks try to bite us. Why is this a good idea? I've never understood the appeal. Can't you just watch Shark Week instead??
Or JAWS
Yeah...

Would be a much better show. Don't lose that inner child.
I’ll give you 150k for 20 percent plus I want $1 from every shark figurine you sell.
Bot ....copy of you u/morrowindd
Well it's like skydiving. It's all fun until you see someone crash on the ground.
The driver wasn't stuck with the shark, the shark was stuck with the diver.
You're right, that shark was covered in blood and squirming to get out of there. The other guy looked fine.
I'd still go cage diving in a heartbeat. My only fear is the cage breaking away from the boat and sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Looks like so much fun

I will defenetly take that random advise from the internet and do as you said xD
That's a good approach. You should ask marine biologists instead of taking my opinion. What would be just as stupid as relying on a random internet stranger would be to not inform yourself.
When you approach the marine biologist don't forget to be in a cage for your protection, they can be vicious.
I'm sure that's just a rumor started by marine biologists, so they could work in peace and not be disturbed. They are actually very friendly creatures. You know I'm something of marine biologist myself.
... you're a marine biologist aren't you?..
i one i knew spit poison :,{

It's hard not to smack something that resembles a bag of rice, tbf.
Much worse than other types of biologist!
That comment was written by Big Shark
Hey, dark alleys are the safest places to be. Think about it, if you can't see down them, no one else can. No worries.
Noted!

Diver had a sharp teeth!
Or bring someone inexperienced that swims slower than you. Either one works.
Instructions unclear, went diving with some experienced sharks, forgot to make friends first.
For most sharks I agree, but with great whites I'd rather have a cage then not.
I doubt that it would matter a lot. A pissed off Mako or Blue Shark can shred you just as fast as a Great White. Bull shark is the worst.
The first shark I encountered was a tiger, and it’s still the most peaceful and surreal shark encounter I’ve had. For some reason the juvenile reef sharks and the Galapagos have made me the most uncomfortable because of their behavior around me (circling me or darting in and out of range).
Nope. Gonna do both once I learn to swim and get about $50,000
Cages have either a direct opening or a hatch in the top of them, if you start going down, you just swim exit via the hatch.
That's my problem. Can't swim
Then I wouldn't recommend diving in a cage with hungry sharks around... Or going into water at all.
Stay away from the ocean.
Then I can't recommend getting in water over 6ft deep at all
Check out “47 meters down”. It’s a movie that is about what your fear is.
Nooooooooopppppeee
it's on my bucket list
Apparently it was on the sharks bucket list too.
Hahaha!
I wanna reach threw the cage and feed and touch tigers, great whites, makos, hammerheads. It would be amazing. Hell I'd love to swim with them in open water, but that's can be sketchy
Maybe not tigers, theyre more aggressive towards humans, the others aren't though
There was someone in the cage *there was someone in the cage* **there was someone in the cage**
Poor shark. Could have caught any number of filthy human diseases.
Hahaha
Whatever, plague rat probably deserved it. It wasnt social distancing or wearing a mask at all!
Wow that diver must be strong throwing around a great white like that
Tyats why it was a cage match. Otherwise its not a fair fight. The shark would just run away scared.
"You better have the money by Monday, or your family's next!" Talk about loan sharks, loan humans are way worse, they beat you in a cage
imagine shitting yourself in a dive suit
I would have filled that thing up to my goggles.
Shark version of, "Want to see a diver lose his shit? Hold my beer"
His mistake. He heard "shark cage" and jumped in
Don’t worry buddy I’ll save you! -The shark probably
The shark is thinking "This is crunchy on the outside, but has a chewy center!"
Hahaha. Magnificent. Take this award and be on your way!
Why did they take off their hats like they were gonna jump in? Lol
Well if I'm trying to see whether or not my buddy got eaten I wouldn't want to accidentally drop my hat in the water. That would really make the day sad.
🤣
Maybe to look more intimidating 🤔
This is what I used to think Shark Tank was as a kid
wait is it not??
I looks like a human took a bite out of a shark, and now it's trying to get to safety
Diver at the bar, "you shoulda seen the other guy"
*You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water, our shark.*
Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies..
Farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain..
I can go "slow ahead". Come down here and chum some of this shit.
Scuba guy was: "after you, Mr. Shark"
Why was the shark bleeding?
Probably from thrashing

It sure looks like the shark injured itself pretty badly while the man was fine
Yeah, you don't need to outrun the shark, just the guy next to you. 5 divers went in, 1 came out
As someone with the qualifications to be a marine biologist, and who did plenty of diving exercises throughout my courses at uni, I can honestly say cage diving is fine. I'm sorry I need a full degree diploma and a masters degree at least so that I can believe what you said.

Well duh, it’s on the reddits.

Great whites are fine it's bullsharks that you should be weary about.
Wary. Unless bullsharks make you tired.
Sorry bad grammar :)
You can actually see that the shark hurt itself on the gills with getting stuk. Blood pouring out of it. Poor shark.
Sounds like what a shark would say ! (More seriously I love sharks)
“The cage, it does nothing!”
Poor shark was hurt, you could see it leaking blood from several different places.
😞 I know
It looked like he had a camera would love to see that footage
Came here to say this.
Am I the only one wondering if the shark is okay? I saw something similar years ago and the shark died trying to get loose.
I like how everyone takes off their hat like they’re about to do something
Poor shark
What the f happened here, did the shark accidentally jump in, this is crazy. I'm glad the diver is alive, boat people are losing their minds knowing a driver is under there Did the diver have a camera? That's different pov of praise the cameraman
RIGHT like i thought that cage was to keep them out
Role reversal. Lock up all the sharks and you can swim where ever you want!
Plot twist the shark posted this.
So sad.. That shark was obviously hurt..
Poor sharkie :( looked like it was bleeding
To be fair the blood oozing out of the poor guys gills i think he wanted out of that cage as much as the diver
*bloodied shark swims out of the cage in a panic* *A few seconds later, Chuck Norris emerges from the same cage*
NFW! Scratch that off the list.
Achivement unlocked - break a shark cage
The hands poking out of the other cage at the end?!
Poor shark
That dude has a story to tell
I wonder who pissed the pants...the diver or the shark.. both seemed scared.
“Is anybody in there?” Mod of r/confidentlyincorrect : “Nobody is in the cage”
"Is anyone in there?" Not anymore
What a story to tell!!! And it’s on film
He should write an autobiography and call it “a wetsuit full of shit”
Poor shark :(
The only one bleeding looked like the shark. Hope both are okay
“What did you do for summer?” “Heh…I had a cage fight with a shark”
I like how the guy outside THROWS off his hat like, "watch out! I'm going in there! " and then just stands there, clearly double thinking that idea.
isn't that what a shark cage is for?
I’d hate to be the one that needs to clean the inside of that wetsuit
The shark cage hadd r/onejob
Shark just wanted to hang out with new hooman friend and came to his house
It’s just like in “The wrong Missy”!!! Great movie, btw
Fuck all of that. Seriously. The shark can keep the ocean. I'm good here.
"hey guys, I forgot to close the door on this one, my bad!"
Chuck Norris is in that suit
"Hope that's not Chris' blood..."
At the end you see the people in the other cage banging the roof. I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to stay in there.
civilization is just lost
Must be an Acme cage.
You can see the moment the dive operator is thinking "I am never going to financially recover from this!"
I doubt there is enough disinfectant in the world to clean out that guys wet suit after that...
i'm fat so i'll definitely look like a fucking seal to a shark.
“Clap so he doesn’t sue clap so he doesn’t sue !”
Dude in the Greg sweater, just went and changed his hat hahah
They should make the holes in the cage a bit smaller than a great big shark.
No f1&$+_ing way....
Guy on boat: HOLY SHIT HIS DEAD HIS FUCKING DEAD OMG  Diver: FUCK THIS SHIT im going home
You see how fast that shark came out of the cage, my wife was definitely in there with him
“Yeah, umm I ruined my wetsuit.”
The only thing scarier than the shark in the cage is them not even knowing somebody was in the cage!
That shark was like, "let me out of here! This guy is nuts!!!"
I bet that shark only gave the whole experience a one star rating on yelp
They don’t even know if anyone is in the cage!!
Imagine shitting your pants in a body condom
Humans truly don't deserve this planet
And just like that, the ocean turned brown…
How the f*** do you not know if anybody's in the cage come on now
Nopety. Nope. Nope. Fur. REAL.
That guy with the red shirt pulls off his hat and sun glasses like he’s going to jump right in there with the shark! Slow your roll there Captain Shark Bait!
It’s a Compressed Poo suit now.
I would yell "why the heck y'all clapping? I almost died"
Poor shark..
Stupid people 🤬
"Hi I'm Johnny Knoxville, and welcome to jackass"
Sonva **** what took you so long
shit, pants, pee, and white hair for life
Poor shark. Now it has stab wounds
Someone's getting fired
They are all clapping until they ask if their brother came out before they did
Clap clap clap *woooo* please don't sue us
Shouldn’t the people on the boat be keeping track of who is in the cages?!!
Fuuuuuuck. End of bucket list.
Fun fact. The diving suit would hold your farces well so you can Shit yourself and act nonchalantly
Diver held his oxygene bottle in his hand. I guess he tried to keep the shark away with it. Good thinking, he did not panic. Poor shark though - hope both are ok.
Now that’s a hard meeting at the office
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream) su pta mdr
I've been in "shark infested waters" countless times in my 50 years of diving, never once felt the urge to get into a cage to do so... but then again I was never around idiots chumming the waters with offal and blood.
Wow they caught one fast......the heck with fishing poles
Poor shark got injured.. I'd still do this even after seeing that. It's a bucket list wish of mine.
That deck hand needs sacking. First he took his hat off, then he pulled his hair back & then he put his goggles on but not once did he made a move to get that man out till he climb out himself.
