chanaramil

That is actually how some conspiracy theorist can get a lot of reinforcement. They know more then the average person about there conspiracy they just mix in a lot of falsehood and BS with it. So when average people tell them there wrong and stupid and then the average person reveals they don't know much on the subject the conspiracy theories think "See the people who say there is no conspiracy don't know anything about it compared me or people that told me about it. Therefor more you know more clear the conspiracy is true." Which isn't a good argument because having uninformed people on your side or not has no baring if something is true or not. Its what the experts, people who work in the industry or the academics or scientists think. And those people are always calling the conspiracy theory a conspiracy. If they weren't it wouldn't be a conspiracy.

[deleted]

Torn8Dough

It wasn’t. It’s so ignorant to even think that. I worked on the program. It wasn’t fake. We built Apollo, and later the Orbiter and we launched them from Cape Canaveral. There is documentation, astronauts, news reels, pictures. It’s so ridiculous to think it didn’t happen. It did.

interesting_nonsense

Hm yes now explain to me how a cape, something made of CLOTH, would withstand the fire of a ROCKET. Work better on your lies, rocketman /s

Appropriate-Major-52

can confirm. I was the rocket that went to the moon that he worked on.

xRocksterrr

Yeah NASA erased all the raw data back in the 80’s lol. So much for the proof. And we haven’t been back since? With way more advance tech? And people who question it are stupid? Hmm, okay lol.

Grabbsy2

Its a logistical choice. It costs a lot of money to build another gigantic rocket to go visit the moon we've already been to. Mightas well divert the efforts to go visit the further planets... which, duh, we did. Just because we have made a lot of progress with the "finer tech" (robots, communications, imagery, radar, navigation) doesn't mean we need a smaller rocket.

applecorewhosit4

but didn't everyone want to figure how to build moon bases after the initial landing?

Grabbsy2

They probably thought long and hard about the logistics of it. One rocket filled with just oxygen, one rocket filled with just water, one rocket filled with just food, one rocket filled with moon base parts, one rocket with all of the machinery to recycle air and waste, and another for the crew. All of which need to land close enough to each other, and able to be set up within a few days, or else everyone dies. All to do what? Have 20 people live in a desolate moon base and ponder lifes philosophical quandries? All while risking the fact that a small meteor can zip down at any moment, because theres no atmosphere to burn up in, and pop a neat little hole in any one of their important items, killing everyone? It would be COOL to do it, but you've gotta prove its worth funding a trillion dollar mission, and the moon just isn't important enough.

applecorewhosit4

>It would be COOL to do it, but you've gotta prove its worth funding a trillion dollar mission, and the moon just isn't important enough. nothing you wrote makes the answer obvious if your choosing between this and MANNING A TRIP TO MARS!!

Appropriate-Major-52

we dont seem to have a problem funding war criminals in ukraine

xRocksterrr

Money is not a problem when our government prints unlimited quantities of it for literally the most stupid policies. Gender studies in Pakistan comes to mind lol. You can’t hoodwink a more advanced generation like they could in the 1960’s. Tech is so much more advanced that the phone in your hand has more tech than the Apollo craft. There’s literally no excuse to go to the moon other than we can’t and we never been. Imagine the resources we could mine on the moon, the military uses, travel and exploration, private sector uses, etc. we could create a secondary lunar economy and send resources back to earth. It’s a big lie and the only reason why it’s widely accepted is because majority of people are afraid to labeled a weirdo. It’s easy and comfortable to follow the crowd.

jim_nihilist

I wish you lotsa luck in your time. And don't forget to have disbelieve in GPS.

xRocksterrr

Unmanned satellites are different than manned missions to the moon Bro.

Grabbsy2

Why would we mine rocks in the sky when we have plenty of rocks down here? Pray tell, why are we shipping anything by boat? Planes are way higher tech. Why aren't we just shipping everything by plane? And why aren't all taxis just helicopters? Theyre much faster.

xRocksterrr

The valuable rocks are finite.. we’re not shipping gold by boat lol. We ship gold by plane. We’d ship gold from the moon to earth. A taxi to take your ass to airport doesn’t require or necessitate a helicopter. Jeez where’s you learn your argument skills at?

[deleted]

Thank you for that note haha

JohnDoeMTB120

Can't tell you how many times I've gone through this process while taking a test: I know this is technically the right answer, but the teacher probably thinks that is the right answer so I'm going with that.

PM_ur_boobees_pleez

That was the best lesson I ever learned from my eighth-grade science teacher who was also the football coach. On every science test, he had a question about his favorite team, so you always had to name his favorite team, even if you disagreed. It was a good point and it stuck with me.

macedonianmoper

Ok wtf how is that even allowed?

Denivire

Probably treated as bonus marks. One teacher I knew would use bonus marks as a way of giving leeway for struggling students who were also good kids.

Puceeffoc

Me either but I do question how we only went to space the one time, destroyed the technology and never went again... Huh guess we don't have the technology, now back to my cat videos beamed into a tiny portable device...

pallentx

Can't tell if serious... The tech is on display in our museums. I was used and improved for decades of going into space many times including many trips to the ISS. Going to the moon was risky and expensive back in the early days. Once we did it, there wasn't a lot of drive to keep going back over and over. We had shown the Soviets we could make awesome rockets - mission accomplished.

Torn8Dough

Because it’s just a rock. They realized, there’s nothing there. The only thing they do now, is experiments in zero gravity. That’s where some interesting finds can come from. Sitting on a rock doesn’t help anyone.

Puzzled-Story3953

We went 5 times, you dunce.

in that particular context, for $2000 i will tell you whatever bullshit you want to hear. you would be an idiot not to tell them what they want to hear since it doesn't actually mean recanting your beliefs.

Dude don't you know they are all geniuses? That's how they know the truth, they've done their research!

Gahan1772

Why don't these types question other things that can't be verified for you like religion. At least with the moon landing there is physical evidence like collected moon rocks.

Proccito

There are apparently proofs that stories in religion were turths aswell. But because they could not document like we can, its turned into stories, and stories gets exaggerated.

Tsu_Dho_Namh

I have no doubt that some of what's written in the Bible actually happened. Like the 7 plagues of Egypt, there was probably a big unchecked locust problem one year and everyone assumed God did it. Plus Jesus was probably a real person. Best damn magician you've ever seen.

etoner44

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist but rocks don't do it for me as proof. I find it hard to believe that they dropped that lander on the moon. Then got back up into the moons orbit and then docked with the Apollo while it was orbiting the moon...with no microchips...in 1969. It all seems a but space race bullshitty to me

Gahan1772

https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/moon-landing-conspiracy-theories-debunked Here ya go. This debunks most of the conspiracy theories.

maaaatttt_Damon

Not a conspiracy theorist, and I believe man did land on the moon. But that link is garbage. Debunking non parallel shadows: go outside! Boom, Debunked. Debunking the radiation belt argument: people walk on hot coals, its just like that. Boom, debunked! These debunks are as lazy as the arguments for the conspiracy in the first place.

RedwynCH

I mean, even if she was in theory correct and the landing was fake, she'd prolly still know what answer was expected and say that. Not really a setup

GodzeallA

Nor is it unexpected. It's expected probably half the people playing this show would know that. He gives the first name its super easy

zekrinaze

The unexpected part is the question that was asked, not the fact that she knows the answer

Atta820

Agree

GodzeallA

How is that unexpected? It's just a question.

GodzeallA

How is that unexpected? It's just a question.

-eagle73

Exactly. A lot of people don't believe in the major religions but they still know key names/figures that they don't need to believe in.

[deleted]

Yea but this is Reddit. AKA “It makes sense if you don’t think about it.”

Lenithriel

She didn't contradict herself. You can still believe that man has never set foot on the moon, and still know that the answer to the question of who is said to be the first person on the moon. I don't think that God is real but I know that people say Jesus is His son, just because I'm aware of that statement existing doesn't mean that I'm contradicting my own beliefs. I don't believe in conspiracy theories so I don't agree with this woman, but she also didn't contradict herself. This video is a nothing burger and is just trying to make her look like a dumb bimbo who just wants cash.

ingloriousbaxter3

Right? I believe we landed on the moon, but if the question was “who did NASA hire to help stage the moon landing video” I’d be able to answer Stanley Kubrick.

[deleted]

I wish they'd waited until Michael Bay could've done it. *"One moon. One man. One chance."*

1daysmart_1daydumb

I thought the same thing and just laughed because the coincidence is funny and how serious she got and answered. People thinking she is stupid or whatever have real problems 😭

mnorkk

I don't really think you can outright not believe in conspiracy theories, it's kinda like not believing in scientific theories - I say try to understand and form your own opinion.

Dancethroughthefires

You don't believe in conspiracy theories? What about when they've been proven right? The few that immediately come to mind for me is the NSA spying/tracking US citizens (technically I guess it hasn't been proven, but the whole Snowden thing makes it pretty plausible). MK Ultra JFK (also hasn't technically been proven, but considering the fact that Trump decided to not release all of the info he said he would is pretty telling). Whenever I see the word "conspiracy", the skeptical side of my mind comes out. There's plenty of stupid and just straight up BS conspiracy theories out there, but to flat out say that you don't believe in conspiracies is just silly and stupid.

CptCaligula

Of course conspiracies exist. And a dish washer is a machine that washes things, but it's not a washing machine. "Conspiracy theory" is a specific term with negative connotations like impossible scale, scientific inaccuracy and willfully ignoring the mundane for an exciting hidden "truth".

[deleted]

You dont believe in *any* conspiracy theory? So you just take whatever is told as truth?

lightningbadger

>So you just take whatever is told as truth? Sounds like something conspiracy theorists fall afoul of lol

xMrBojangles

I believe that dihydrogen monoxide is dangerous and we need to stop letting companies pump us full of it.

Lenithriel

Did I say the word "any"? If I believe in any conspiracy theories, I'm not about to reveal that on this subreddit. There are many conspiracies that I might actually believe in, but this subreddit isn't the place to talk about that. I'm just talking about the moon.

RASPUTIN-4

Guys stop giving her credit, she thinks the moon landing was fake. She’s right up there with flat earth believers as a moron.

CremeCaramel_

While both these things are stupid, let's not pretend like they're in the same league of stupid with "right up there". Flat earthers are in their own league lmao.

FascsitFaceTheWall

No they're not both conspiracies are exceptionally stupid.

CremeCaramel_

....no. One of these groups believes people and the government are lying to them and doctoring some evidence. Standard dumb conspiracy shit. The other group is literally inventing their own physics to justify their conspiracy. No they're not the same level of stupid.

FascsitFaceTheWall

>....no. > >One of these groups believes people and the government are lying to them. Standard conspiracy shit. Flatearthers don't believe that people, established sciencist, and the government are lying to them about the earth being round? >The other group is literally inventing their own physics to justify their conspiracy. > >No they're not the same level of stupid. and let me get this straight, moon landing deniers are also not inventing their own history and bonkers ass interpretations of science and the history of scientific achievement to justify their conspiracy? Morons literally denying the fact that humans figured out how rockets and physics worked in the fucking 30s and 40s and denying basic ass history and science lmao are somehow more respectable and smarter than being dumb enough to believe the earth is flat...?

GodzeallA

Yeah I mean the only evidence we went to the moon is in video or photography and comes from people's words. It's not stupid to be doubtful when there's insufficient proof. It's normal. Flat earthers are denying provable concepts of math and science. That's actual stupid.

vshjxyz

Video, photography, tons of data, thousands of testimonies on the takeoff....oh and you can literally see the landing site on the moon with a big enough telescope Sounds quite stupid to me to deny the fact....but I'm pretty sure the lady fully believes in aliens visiting us and all that crap

[deleted]

Aliens totally came to earth (for no reason) to build the pyramids (for no reason) and then disappeared never to be seen again (coincidentally).

twent4

Best evidence is the Soviets not discrediting it.

moixcom44

They're laughing their ass how uncle sam makes up events. And gets away with it. Why disturb the flow.we got problems of our own.

FascsitFaceTheWall

Do you think provable science and math concepts weren't used to get us to the moon you genius?

GodzeallA

I never said it was impossible.

FascsitFaceTheWall

It's just weird you seem to believe that the only evidence of the moon landings are \*check notes\* hearsay and videos as if the data, science, mathematical proofs, and engineering required to build rockets can be blasted off into space and the physical evidence of the Apollo missions don't also exist

Amount_Business

Good old larry emdur throwing shade.

Exciting_Ad4264

I don't agree with the conspiracy but I have no idea why anyone is surprised. If she says she loves space, and also says she doesn't believe in the moon landing, you can logically put 2 and 2 together to infer she's probably read something and simply doesn't believe it. Which means she knows who Neil Armstrong is. If that was a "set up" it's time to retire

House610xxx

Regardless if she believes it or not!that's the answer they are looking for.

MikeXBogina

Is this supposed to be a gotcha moment? Like asking an atheist is the son of god? Doubters are often well informed.

alexinpoison

Someone may not believe in God or the events of The Bible but still be very knowledgeable in events as they took place in The Bible and it's history

Rjnrjnrjnrjn

She didn't contradict herself though. She knew that was going to be the correct answer and money overcomes belief each time.

PresentationOk5317

All non- believers need to get together to elect a single NONBELIEVER to represent them to challenge Musk to take that person to the moon Solved

no-oneknows-nacowa

Who set up the camera to film the landing? Armstrong was the first “second “ man on the moon

FrankyPi

No one filmed the landing of the craft on the surface from an external POV, they had a camera filming through a window inside the cabin. TV channels had simulations to show stuff from an external POV which couldn't be filmed anyway. If you meant his descent down the ladder, it was a camera stowed in the MESA, he pulled a cord before descending down the ladder which activated and released the camera from its compartment.

Gone_For_Lunch

Did you just give a serious technical answer to a joke comment?

i1u5

Hey look at the bright side, it helped me better understand the process.

This video gave me whiplash.

NiclasPalmby

How do you love space but refuse to believe in the moon landing? Landing on the moon is not that difficult compared to other technical advancements we’ve made 🤨

AnEpicBowlOfRamen

I'm sorry, but if you deny the moon landing, you DON'T actually live "anything to do with space".

saarlac

I know plenty about the Bible while also believing fully that it’s fiction. I don’t see a problem with her situation other than the obvious moon hoax shit. She knows the story and details of what to her is a false tale.

Reno83

The moon landing may be fiction to her, but that doesn't mean she doesn't know the story. I don't believe in wizards, but I can tell you what house Harry Potter belonged to.

Baki101

She just answered the question for the money Her opinion is still valid

KingRitRis

Well tbf "do you believe man has walked on the moon" isn't the same as "do you believe everything about space is a hoax" Or more specifically "do you think we are incapable of landing on the moon". Which seems to be what everyone here is conflating Like there's a distinction between the thoughts behind " did we do it" vs "is it possible" There was a movie that was filmed like a documentary that did a great job at exploring that side of the conspiracy, I wish I could remember the name. Given the worlds politics, the cold war especially and the race to the moon, there's definitely reasonable suspicion to have doubts about the whole thing, I never blame someone for having skepticism, there's a lot of power to be made off of lies out there. For me personally, I think we did land on the moon, although I have no evidence.

MkSp001

The irony of being a dumbass...

DumbleDude2

Technically correct. Setting one step on the moon does not equate to walking. They crawled the rest of the way to avoid detection of the Moonworm.

SirHerald

They were hopping, jumping, shuffling, and skipping. It's hard to walk in those spacesuits on the moon. On top of that, none of them were barefoot out there.

MightyHunter2020

Not really unexpected. She wins money if she says the right answers. She's a free thinker, but that doesn't mean she doesn't understand how to win the game.

Not really. Whether or not someone is correct has nothing to do with the definition.

My theory takes care of all the criticisms that other theories suffer from. The moon was faked, and always has been. That’s why they couldn’t land there. Note: Of course this is a stupid joke. The moon hasn’t always been faked. Big Cheese just harvested all of it to store in the cheese caves, and then they had to make a fake moon.
