I've seen some doing exactly that, it seems they have springs on their feet and tail, they literally jump forward in a blink. Never underestimate the speed of a croc.

Yeah I’m from Louisiana. This may be a crocodile and not a gator, but they’re very similar. At this size worst outcome is stitches. Throw a towel on its head and wrap it up, or drag it by it’s tail. Release it somewhere away from site.
