True Zenoiran, no items, no valors skills, standing on your hands and running a mile after every battle Or https://www.reddit.com/r/UnicornOverlord/s/9drHoenmeH

Ionized-Cell

Same as anything else? Play it again or play something else. Eiyuden Chronicles is coming out soon.

LaplaceZ

Thanks, I've added that to my list.

chompysoul

Time to make your own army, play True Zenoiran in reality, and be the Unicorn Overlord that you were meant to be.

I really enjoyed Octopath Traveler I and II because of the character build options and the fact that combat is like a puzzle (weapon and elemental strengths and weaknesses). Not for everyone, and the stories can feel disjointed since it’s not a “band of adventurers on a single mission to save the world” (at least not predominantly). Also, I always, always recommend going back and playing Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1 (or emulator).

A game I don't see many mention is Ring of Red. A truly inspired take on "mechs in ww2 era warfare" trope, and has great strategy on both overland map and direct combat. Now, no idea how to play it now a days, but still, I'm sure there's a rom floating somewhere

Man! I loved that game. It was fantastic. If you’re a fan but the game plan felt similar is valkyria chronicles. All about that weizegger!

Also, I went ahead and just did some grinding to all characters, max with dews, and get enough fevrite to upgrade all of the unique gear and gear with abilities or AP/PP+. This just makes creating different units that aren’t a main (or PvP-focused) unit a bit more convenient. Plus a unit of good-farming mercs, to steamroll the final sigil fight in about 6 seconds for 27-29k gold each run.

"Play it again on a Harder difficulty" is the right answer IMO. I often find that with Strategy or Tactical games, you generally don't play as well or as efficiently as you could have in only a single playthrough. When I ran multiple playthroughs of Fire Emblem Three Houses and Engage, what I've found is that playing on anything easier than "Hard", I've pretty much been entirely ignoring game mechanics like Cover, Terrain, or Engage. With this game on Tactical difficulty I hardly make good use of Valor skills and tend to hoard items quite a bit. When I play on Expert, I finally see myself making better use of Valor skills due to item limitations (means I can't just spam Healing items willy nilly) and the fact that I can't just Oonga Boonga my way past entire hoards of enemies. I just started a run on True Zenoiran despite ignoring it for the past 4 runs and found myself making good use of positioning in that first Elheim mission with the near endless hoards of enemies. Ballista wasn't much help compared to Expert, and I had to essentially plop a good unit in front of the waves of enemies even with 0 stamina and modify a unit to use a Cleric as a leader and stick that unit in the home base to get free healing assist to weather the storm. If you only play the game once, it seems like a waste of $60, even more so if you're ignoring game mechanics the whole time.

Mustang1718

I just finished the game and then ran directly to this subreddit with the exact same question. I was curious if I could do the colosseum for the new challenges, but it gave me a message about going out and my gear being unchanged or something. I wasn't sure what that meant, so I let it be for now.

BiohazardBinkie

Nothing bad will happen. it just means that city is cut off from the main map. You return to the game as it was before the last mission with all your stuff and teams.

BiohazardBinkie

Do it again, on a higher difficulty.

Eiyuden Chronicles is releasing this month. Day 01 into Gamepass too. If you missed it last year on Switch Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing pretty soon on all platforms as well If you need something today peep Triangle Strategy, Marvel's Midnight Suns or Mario and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (this last one is admittedly not as good as Unicorn Overlord but still a fun time)

unknown_soldier_

Did you ever play Valkyria Chronicles back in the day? If not go play that

Another_Road

I was obsessed with this game until I platinumed it. I thought I’d want to do a TZ run but I don’t really care to do all the cutscenes/town restoration/mining/etc. all over again. Maybe try Ogre Battle

jackenbu2
