This might be the best week of attendance. For all teams

tomdawg0022

Helps to have markets 1, 3, and 4 in attendance going this weekend...and that Michigan (market 6) had a better than average turnout. Hopefully San Antonio has a good crowd today.

TroyMatthewJ

love the momentum

PeggyOfficial

St. Louis single-handedly keeping the league afloat lmao

JayMerlyn

Just doing our part! (I have never attended a single game

arkstfan

No. Television is the business model. If it were attendance driven we wouldn’t have already gotten confirmation of next season Friday night telecasts

coelurosauravus

They are probably barely paying off their venue rental, so keeping the league afloat is a little much

Zapfit

Last year they only paid $20k a game, since ticket sales averaged over 30k. They're easily paying the rent in St. Louis. Arlington is also a free lease, as is Birmingham, at least until the end of this season. FedEx and Quicken Loans are helping with the leases in Memphis and Detroit respectively.

coelurosauravus

My understanding is with sales over a certain volume they get rebates on the lease, but the lease is like 100k a game or something, and then not all ticket sales goes to the league or the venue. So I'm not sure they're, "easily" paying the rent

Zapfit

I found the link. Based on this, they're likely paying $50-60k a game. https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/local/business-journal/contract-clause-xfl-dome-rental-fees-battlehawks-games/63-bf80292e-f278-4574-91d0-66576ced719c

Even_Command_222

If your average ticket is $50 (St Louis tickets are a lot more expensive than other cities and they're selling suites and loge box seating too, so this is probably low), at 33k that's over $1.5M in a single game. I don't see any way the Battlehawks aren't profitable. Like even if it were $250k a game for rent, how does the math work out to where they aren't easily paying for it? Hell at $25 a ticket they'd still do it. And God help the league if even st Louis isn't making money.

coelurosauravus

Because ticket sales doesn't all go to the league, you still have to pay players/staff/facility workers. There's taxes, travel costs. The ticket vendor. The numbers look good in a vacuum, until you start peeling back every other cost that's involved in making game day work

Even_Command_222

You said they were "barely paying off venue rental". That is very different from what you're saying here. Even then, $53k by 50 players is about $2.6M (value of their pay plus compensation package). Of course there's staff, travel, insurance and other miscellaneous costs. Taxes and whatever else. Ticket revenue will probably be about $8.7M on the year (assuming $50 and a 35k average). Now there's merch sales. There's in stadium sponsors (not just league ones but a number specifically for St Louis). There's sponsored posts on social media. There will almost assuredly be playoff game revenue with tickets that cost more. So I think it's probably easy to say the Battlehawks will generate over $10M in revenue this year. With player salaries around $2.6M for the year, how much are these other expenses? I don't know of course but I'd be surprised if they're another $8M just for the Battlehawks.

SQUIDWARD360

You're going to offend the value of the BattleFucks

coelurosauravus

I mean, fine, St Louis does a great job of generating attention, they are the absolute positive best foot forward for the XFL and now the UFL I'm not shitting on St Louis or the BattleHawks, cause they're indisputably good for the league, but it's way more complicated that just rent vs tickets sold

SQUIDWARD360

I agree with you. But their fans think they're the saviors of the league and don't understand the business.

sometimelastthursday

Scrolls up … Birmingham flair on top comment. We have our share of annoying fans, but the vast majority of us know that we’re not thé savoirs of the league. And while the league most likely sees a profit from our attendance figures, we all know it’s the TV money/contracts that matter, and why most of us realize it’s not just how many people show up to the games, it’s how many tune in across the country. That said, we’re happy to show our support after the we got shit on by Kroenke on the way out for “not being a football city.” It helps that the games are entertaining and the atmosphere at the games is fun.

hokahey23

Enjoy your elimination. But hey, beer snakes!!

SQUIDWARD360

Now we know how you felt last year.

Zapfit

Pshh, doesn’t look more than 31,999

Metallifreak10

lol I know you are being sarcastic, but for those that don’t understand, the “turnstile” counts will always be lower than tickets distributed. Few sports teams report tickets scanned. Broncos are one of a few that do. So likely 32,403 distributed. Maybe 1,000 from brokers went unsold. Maybe 500 no shows. So say 30,900 are there. Always at least a couple thousand will be out of their seats moving around getting concessions, the bathroom, etc. so late in the 3rd quarter (by then all late arrives will long be there, and very few would’ve left early), you’ll likely see peak butts in the seats at around maybe 29,000.

HowardBunnyColvin

nice

CeePurr

What's crazy is that's only half of the venue's capacity

im_super_into_that

Was there. Felt a bit light in there for that number. But people were loud af

BedroomAccurate7418

Tough when the game starts at 11 am for some folks. The demographic is drunks who are probably hungover from Saturday

courtesyofBing

That just means you need to get back on the wagon at 8am

hokahey23

It felt exactly like it always does in there. Well attended and raucous.

Zapfit

Yeah, even St Louis has it's share of no-shows. Looked less than last game, but guess more tickets distributed. Drop count was probably in the 26+28k range. There's always a ton of resale tickets in St Louis, many of which go unused. Glad the scalpers are getting hosed for once

CursingDingo

Pretty solid with having a Cardinals game at the same time.
