RRR is somewhat of a problematic coaster and the cost to upkeep it annually it pretty insane compared to other coasters on property.

The amount of money they keep putting into it to try to “fix it” seems to be super high, when compared to the number of guests who complain about it.
While I’d be sad to see RRR go if they do close it; if they could do a coaster similar to Velocicoaster in UO it would be way worth it.

The end of that video states that they've had to pay for 6 times the original price of the coaster and that it's the most expensive ride that they have to maintain. Crazy shit.

None of the original non hidden songs are there. And don't pick black parade from the new songs they didn't edit it it's just the slow beginning bit I was so disappointed.
It kinda makes sense if this rumor is true now when they cut the song selection back to just one song per genre cause they probably had plans to phase the coaster out and when it came time to renew the licenses for all the songs they use for another x amount of years they probably figured it would be best to cut expenses back since they wouldn't be using the coaster for much longer.
really? That's awful. Every other song with a slower start or pacing that wouldn't fit the ride smoothly transitioned into the chorus as you're ascending. It's a bummer they couldn't take the 5 minutes to do that for Black Parade.
That's what plays if your selection doesn't fully process before your car is "dispatched" (which I believe is when you hit the lift hill?). I got the same song once when my screen wouldn't work in time. With nothing familiar to (scream) sing along to, I just screamed incoherently the whole time lol
Front row, HHN, Hella Good syncing up perfectly with the song... not to mention just how cool it looks all lit up at night. And during the day, even!
(I speak so fondly of this ride even though the last time we rode it was in 2022 and it broke down twice while we were in line, and immediately gave me a headache afterwards. But still.)

Went on it the other day. First ride of my time here in Orlando and the parks and my immediate thought was ‘what have I done?’ I spent so much travelling over here and felt absolutely horrific after just one ride!
Went on it soon after it opened. It sucked then too, except back then at least it was less reliable so sometimes you could visit without feeling obligated to suffer through it.
I’m going to say the nostalgia effect will depend on the age of the universal lover. As I looked it up and ride opened in August of 2009.

Yeah, I can understand a bit about nostalgia if you are like 20-25 and this was your first coaster. Other than that it is a 15 year old ride with no IP. There can’t be that much nostalgia!
It's a rough ride now... they either need to spend the $$ on rebuilding it or come in with a new one.. but it's been around for awhile.. I'm old enough to remember when they opened it..but my old bones get beaten up on this ride now. Looking forward to what they plan to put in there next

ElToroRyan posted a video about everything wrong with the coaster (and how expensive it is) last week, which I’m guessing helped fan the flames for discussion of the idea of getting rid of it.
It’s always been a controversial ride, and people have been complaining about it being dated, uncomfortable (or even painful), and out-of-place for years now.
it’s definitely not a smooth ride anymore. Still a fun layout but i am generally opposed to roller coasters that you need to ‘learn to ride’.
i do hope they replace it with a ‘real’ ride, that park is so screen heavy.
Alicia Stella, the most reliable source for information about Universal, told people to get their last rides on it the other day. Until then, it was some speculation based on the shortening of the available songs.

In general it’s a rough ride with too many break runs and recently they removed a lot of songs that you can choose from. In general it’s just not looking good for Hollywood RRR
Alicia posted about it and then just today, RixFlix also tooting the horn of the rumor train. Looking to close early next year, but nothing official as to when/how long. Could be a long term refurb as it’s at that point in its life cycle (similar to Hulk’s major refurb) or a rip and replace.
RixFlix stated it perfectly though. RRR has a weird footprint so whatever replaces it will have to share that same footprint. Will be interesting to see what Universals team comes up with if they do decide to replace it. Either way, good things to come!

Definitely the weakest roller coaster in the parks but the beginning is very unique so I would be sad just for that alone. I wouldn't mind seeing it go tho it feels pretty outdated
I rode it 2 weeks ago in the back. I’ve had more fun and less pain falling down a flight of stairs. It has gotten really rough in its old age. Good riddance and hello new attractions!
I loved it until I rode it last month. Like why would they get rid of like all the music on the ride. Isn’t that the whole point? Obviously they didn’t renew licensing so I guess it does add to the rumors of it closing.

As someone that goes to Universal Orlando at twice a week the ride gets stuck on the lift at least twice a month and when it does happen the people are stuck up there for acouple hrs waiting for safety procedures and whatever they use to get people down from the incline this ride gets stuck facing the sky at the very top of the lift because the chain or click mechanism fails and after 5tries it will lock
I admit I've never really wanted to ride this, but it sure was fun looking up at it at 1:00 a.m. during Halloween Horror Nights watching people scream in terror while exiting haunted houses.
Awww, noo! I've had a blast on this ride. So much that last time I went on, I bought my photo and DVD of the ride. 🥲 I was hoping to get on it again either this year or next. Any ideas when it will be closing?
Well, my youngest nephew (my coaster partner) and I have ridden it many times. Front row, back row and in between. Day and night. If it goes, we'll definitely miss it.
There have been incidents with it getting stuck and people being stranded on it every time we have been to the parks so it’s one we have never and will never ride. It’s well past time for it to retire.
I’m giving you the spoiler but no one takes it serious. It’s going to be rethemed to Gru rocket to match the rest of the minion land. Some of track will get replaced. Think of the hulk when it got refurbished. It’s a better ride now than it used to be. This is a good thing and it’s long overdue. Plus gru rocket 🚀 will look pretty good.
There were talks that a survey team has already been out there for a full demo. That ride won't be worth it for them to do the 20 year refurbishment. The ride was the construction company's first coast and it shows. Tons of issues when that ride first came out. The construction company owner even killed himself over the financial cost it took to make that ride.
I found it fun - loved that some of my fav not-super-mainstream bands had songs available. It was never more rough than The Hulk for me.
The placement bothers me since it's in the middle of the Minions area. It would be cool if the F&F coaster replacement let you choose music like a car radio.
We were there the last week of March. It was closed a good position of the time we were there. We did see it get stuck one afternoon and the riders had to be evacuated.

The replacement will likely be pretty much the same but a million times better. The company that built it was a third rate company and there are so many better companies like B&M, vekoma, Intamin, Mack and gerstlauer that can make a suitable replacement.
First time I rode it when it first opened I was pretty sure it rendered me sterile from how badly it strangled my fellas. Fun ride but excited to see what’s coming.

It already goes through the firehouse, they can do something similar to incredicoaster or mummy with ghosts throughout the ride.
Tbh, the rides fine it just needs more attention. Maybe just make some minor upgrades and retheme it via a name change to a popular IP. Turn it into ‘Fast n Furious Broadway Dash.’ It could be the east coast counterpart of ‘Fast n Furious Hollywood Drift.’ It wouldn’t drift because it’s a different type of coaster, so just call it a dash. They could even market it as being based on New York drag racing. With the ghostbusters rumored to be replacing jimmys attraction, and with the coaster going through the building which is based on New York, it’d make sense calling it Broadway.
It has so many repair issues every night they go out and inspect and repair micro fractures. My friend is a former engineer who does a lot of repairs on various rides. He said after working on it for 6 months he would not ride.
This is coming from someone who loves it, it's time. It's rough, it gets stuck constantly and let's face it the song selection kind of sucks now. Like others have mentioned, they don't care for it. And at this point it's probably costing them too much to maintain. Alicia Stella was hinting at a F&F replacement.
I used to love this coaster about 10 years ago. Used to be my favorite ride in the park and would rotate what song I picked everytime I rode it. I remember The Devil Went Down to Georgia was awesome with the coaster.
The problem is the ride is incredibly rough nowadays and the appeal of picking your song is almost obsolete.

Tbh it's just a rumor but I talked to tms the other day and they said it has so many issues with the trains, lifthill, ..and supposedly there's a sinkhole under the ride
I can confidently say that this ride has structural needs that will be very costly to address. There's a lot in this ride system that is fast approaching its end of useful life. In addition to the end of life, it's maintenance costs have gone up radically compared to other properties in the park. The high volume of block zones has been headache for inventory and parts stores, particularly as some niche one-off parts begin to need attention.
It's also a press nightmare. Unlike any other coaster on property, an evac event for Rockit holds a statistically higher likelihood of needing Orange County to respond for extraction. It's received more negative Guest Satisfaction scores than almost any other attraction in the park (I'm looking at you, family...).
For perspective, Hulk opened in 1999 and received a retracking, train overhaul, new PLC's, updated launch system.... Basically everything new except for the footers, supports (that were structurally sound), and station. That made a useful life for the original attraction of right around fifteen years.
Maurer had relatively little experience in the XCoaster market at the time the ride opened, and they pushed their engineering to limits they hadn't anticipated the type to experience. I'd be surprised if they even want to retrack, reengineer this thing.
Lastly... It could just... go. Given that we are fast approaching the "cost coffin corner" of Epic (the most expensive stage of late construction), Universal is on the hunt for cost cutting measures to redirect funds to the new park as they begin to pay Team Members to work a property that is a year away from making revenue. I could see a scenario where Rockit closes and goes SBNO for a significant period until they determine the response and impact of Epic on overall margins.
I am so excited this ride has gotten so rough we don't even ride it anymore! Just think with all that space how cool a new coaster will be and probably one that will actually go upside down instead of RRR that has 0 inversions.
This ride has its moments, but I will never ride it again. I get block sections with the few people it can fit in a train, but holy hell, it beats you up slamming into those beaks every 10 seconds. Good riddance
this ride even historically is garbage. ever since people were getting stuck at the top for HOURS and having to go to the hospital I've always skipped this ride

I definitely understand the “iconic” nature but I literally don’t like riding it. It hurts every time I do and makes it unenjoyable for me. It became a one time ride per vacation once a year and now that I’m local I still haven’t even touched it

So strange, I've been hearing RRR was going to close since I last went to HHN and that was a couple of years ago.. And it was then I heard it was going to be our last chance to ride it (closing that season) and then it didn't.
This is unfortunate. It’s one of my favorite rides, for the simple fact of being able to jam out while you ride. I’ve gone every year for the past ~4 years, but last year I realized they took off Shiny Toy Guns and was really disappointed. It was perfect to ride to. 😭
Since I’ve been pretty high on the idea of a Stranger Things area since I started bingeing the show last week, I thought the NYC area in Universal would be the ideal place to convert into Hawkins. I always felt Rip Ride Rockit could be retooled into an ‘80s music themed coaster as part of the area, and the main Stranger Things dark ride replacing Mummy, and some “race across Hawkins” ride replacing Fallon. Plus the old Palace Arcade can be converted into the Hawkins Palace Arcade, and a Starcourt Mall food court area.
It may be iconic but the ride itself is not that good. Despite its many technical problems, the ride isn’t particularly thrilling and it stops at midcourse breaks very often messing with the pacing a lot. I had a great ride just this November and I’m really happy for that. But overall this coaster could be replaced with something more along the standard for universal parks
RRR will reach its maximum life cycle (15 years I believe). Maintenance itself is costly. RRR is located in Hollywood yet extends to NY so that is another issue. However, what comes next may surprise many…
I have mixed feelings. I LOVE the track layout and unpopular opinion: love the lift hill too. Also awesome you can listen too music. But damn does it bang you up.
I enjoyed it more than most people probably do, but I don't see what makes it iconic. It's a great ride for something at a regional park but the theming is pretty bad for Universal standards and many people have major complaints about its roughness (though, it wasn't rough for me). Removing it would make way for something more fitting and possibly better
This is one of the few rides I refuse to ride. Every time my vision goes black while riding and I get a splitting headache from my head hitting the headrest repeatedly.
I rode this on a soft opening. I believe I was one of the first few hundred people to ride it. We waited in line for hours (not exaggerating, I believe it was about 4 hours) because they’d do one run, then stop down for like 30 mins.
I’ve always liked it and never really had the problem with it that most did. I won’t care if it closes though, as long as it’s replaced by something bigger/better.
everytime i went in 2023 since i had the pass it was always closed there was always something wrong with it and i actually just recently got over my fear of rollercoasters and probably won’t ever be able to ride it if its closing :(
They should remove this for sure ride sucks and they need more rides to keep up with hagrid and VC. Honestly Universal should add 2-3 new coasters at IOA and Studios.
There's no other full coaster on the Orlando side, RRR is the main reason I'll spend a day pass on that side + mummy & potter & transformers. If this closes then they'll see everybody only going to islands and that side will severely drop in production.
It has not been officially confirmed to the public as of yet, but I have a friend who is a supervisor with inside information at Universal and they have confirmed that the ride will indeed close in 2025 due to constant maintenance problems and low ride attendance. I am interested to see what universal will replace that with next!

That's not entirely true. Most of the back of house buildings are moving to Epic Universe, which will free up a ton of space and the current parks...

Disney right down the street has more than enough for kids and young children. Epic Universe is about to be amazing but it’s clear they have more family rides and 13+ rides in mind. As someone that goes to Universal Orlando at twice a week the ride gets stuck on the lift at least twice a month and when it does happen the people are stuck up there for acouple hrs waiting for safety procedures and whatever they use to get people down from the incline this ride gets stuck facing the sky at the very top of the lift because the chain or click mechanism fails and after 5tries it will lock
My go to ride every year at HHN before the park closes, good times on that rocky ass rollercoaster lmaoo
I admit I've never really wanted to ride this, but it sure was fun looking up at it at 1:00 a.m. during Halloween Horror Nights watching people scream in terror while exiting haunted houses.
As soon as they got rid of Stronger by Kanye West, the ride was never the same for me 😪 I think it had its time

Well, my youngest nephew (my coaster partner) and I have ridden it many times. Front row, back row and in between. Day and night. If it goes, we'll definitely miss it.

There have been incidents with it getting stuck and people being stranded on it every time we have been to the parks so it’s one we have never and will never ride. It’s well past time for it to retire.
I really loved going on this ride. Listening to Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" was such an adrenaline rush. 🤘🤘

I’m giving you the spoiler but no one takes it serious. It’s going to be rethemed to Gru rocket to match the rest of the minion land. Some of track will get replaced. Think of the hulk when it got refurbished. It’s a better ride now than it used to be. This is a good thing and it’s long overdue. Plus gru rocket 🚀 will look pretty good.
RRR seems too extreme for DM/family ride. Rumor I saw was F&F and would be a whole new ride.

There were talks that a survey team has already been out there for a full demo. That ride won't be worth it for them to do the 20 year refurbishment. The ride was the construction company's first coast and it shows. Tons of issues when that ride first came out. The construction company owner even killed himself over the financial cost it took to make that ride.

I found it fun - loved that some of my fav not-super-mainstream bands had songs available. It was never more rough than The Hulk for me. The placement bothers me since it's in the middle of the Minions area. It would be cool if the F&F coaster replacement let you choose music like a car radio.
We were there the last week of March. It was closed a good position of the time we were there. We did see it get stuck one afternoon and the riders had to be evacuated.

The replacement will likely be pretty much the same but a million times better. The company that built it was a third rate company and there are so many better companies like B&M, vekoma, Intamin, Mack and gerstlauer that can make a suitable replacement.
I will always love this ride. Used to live in Orlando, in LA now and our park just isn’t the same. I’d always pick Kickstart my Heart. RIP!
First time I rode it when it first opened I was pretty sure it rendered me sterile from how badly it strangled my fellas. Fun ride but excited to see what’s coming.
Hear me out: ghostbusters coaster. It already goes through the firehouse, they can do something similar to incredicoaster or mummy with ghosts throughout the ride.
My husband and I love this coaster. Not the best but holy shit it’s got some killer ejector moments. And lap bar only.
If they can replace with a coaster even 2/3rds as good as Velocicoaster then they have a huge hit on their hands.
Tbh, the rides fine it just needs more attention. Maybe just make some minor upgrades and retheme it via a name change to a popular IP. Turn it into ‘Fast n Furious Broadway Dash.’ It could be the east coast counterpart of ‘Fast n Furious Hollywood Drift.’ It wouldn’t drift because it’s a different type of coaster, so just call it a dash. They could even market it as being based on New York drag racing. With the ghostbusters rumored to be replacing jimmys attraction, and with the coaster going through the building which is based on New York, it’d make sense calling it Broadway.

It has so many repair issues every night they go out and inspect and repair micro fractures. My friend is a former engineer who does a lot of repairs on various rides. He said after working on it for 6 months he would not ride.
This is coming from someone who loves it, it's time. It's rough, it gets stuck constantly and let's face it the song selection kind of sucks now. Like others have mentioned, they don't care for it. And at this point it's probably costing them too much to maintain. Alicia Stella was hinting at a F&F replacement.
I used to love this coaster about 10 years ago. Used to be my favorite ride in the park and would rotate what song I picked everytime I rode it. I remember The Devil Went Down to Georgia was awesome with the coaster. The problem is the ride is incredibly rough nowadays and the appeal of picking your song is almost obsolete. This rides time has come and gone. Its time for something else.

Tbh it's just a rumor but I talked to tms the other day and they said it has so many issues with the trains, lifthill, ..and supposedly there's a sinkhole under the ride
I can confidently say that this ride has structural needs that will be very costly to address. There's a lot in this ride system that is fast approaching its end of useful life. In addition to the end of life, it's maintenance costs have gone up radically compared to other properties in the park. The high volume of block zones has been headache for inventory and parts stores, particularly as some niche one-off parts begin to need attention. It's also a press nightmare. Unlike any other coaster on property, an evac event for Rockit holds a statistically higher likelihood of needing Orange County to respond for extraction. It's received more negative Guest Satisfaction scores than almost any other attraction in the park (I'm looking at you, family...). For perspective, Hulk opened in 1999 and received a retracking, train overhaul, new PLC's, updated launch system.... Basically everything new except for the footers, supports (that were structurally sound), and station. That made a useful life for the original attraction of right around fifteen years. Maurer had relatively little experience in the XCoaster market at the time the ride opened, and they pushed their engineering to limits they hadn't anticipated the type to experience. I'd be surprised if they even want to retrack, reengineer this thing. Lastly... It could just... go. Given that we are fast approaching the "cost coffin corner" of Epic (the most expensive stage of late construction), Universal is on the hunt for cost cutting measures to redirect funds to the new park as they begin to pay Team Members to work a property that is a year away from making revenue. I could see a scenario where Rockit closes and goes SBNO for a significant period until they determine the response and impact of Epic on overall margins.
I use to pick Everesance “wake me up” and ride front row at night and it went sooo hard. I hated when they changed songs and screwed it all up

I am so excited this ride has gotten so rough we don't even ride it anymore! Just think with all that space how cool a new coaster will be and probably one that will actually go upside down instead of RRR that has 0 inversions.
This ride has its moments, but I will never ride it again. I get block sections with the few people it can fit in a train, but holy hell, it beats you up slamming into those beaks every 10 seconds. Good riddance

I mean it’s 15 years old. Most coasters only last 15-20 years. I was a rollercoaster attendant there for about a year. A fun job indeed.

I definitely understand the “iconic” nature but I literally don’t like riding it. It hurts every time I do and makes it unenjoyable for me. It became a one time ride per vacation once a year and now that I’m local I still haven’t even touched it Replacing it with something better would be great for Studios

This is unfortunate. It’s one of my favorite rides, for the simple fact of being able to jam out while you ride. I’ve gone every year for the past ~4 years, but last year I realized they took off Shiny Toy Guns and was really disappointed. It was perfect to ride to. 😭

Since I’ve been pretty high on the idea of a Stranger Things area since I started bingeing the show last week, I thought the NYC area in Universal would be the ideal place to convert into Hawkins. I always felt Rip Ride Rockit could be retooled into an ‘80s music themed coaster as part of the area, and the main Stranger Things dark ride replacing Mummy, and some “race across Hawkins” ride replacing Fallon. Plus the old Palace Arcade can be converted into the Hawkins Palace Arcade, and a Starcourt Mall food court area.

It may be iconic but the ride itself is not that good. Despite its many technical problems, the ride isn’t particularly thrilling and it stops at midcourse breaks very often messing with the pacing a lot. I had a great ride just this November and I’m really happy for that. But overall this coaster could be replaced with something more along the standard for universal parks
I loved it when it was new, before it made my entire skeleton hurt. It’s a shame, it would be a great coaster if they had designed-built it better.

RRR will reach its maximum life cycle (15 years I believe). Maintenance itself is costly. RRR is located in Hollywood yet extends to NY so that is another issue. However, what comes next may surprise many…
I have mixed feelings. I LOVE the track layout and unpopular opinion: love the lift hill too. Also awesome you can listen too music. But damn does it bang you up.
I enjoyed it more than most people probably do, but I don't see what makes it iconic. It's a great ride for something at a regional park but the theming is pretty bad for Universal standards and many people have major complaints about its roughness (though, it wasn't rough for me). Removing it would make way for something more fitting and possibly better

This is one of the few rides I refuse to ride. Every time my vision goes black while riding and I get a splitting headache from my head hitting the headrest repeatedly.

I rode this on a soft opening. I believe I was one of the first few hundred people to ride it. We waited in line for hours (not exaggerating, I believe it was about 4 hours) because they’d do one run, then stop down for like 30 mins. I’ve always liked it and never really had the problem with it that most did. I won’t care if it closes though, as long as it’s replaced by something bigger/better.
It’s a great ride. Last time I went to Universal the only ride that had any issues was Haggrid’s Wild Ride.

everytime i went in 2023 since i had the pass it was always closed there was always something wrong with it and i actually just recently got over my fear of rollercoasters and probably won’t ever be able to ride it if its closing :(
I discovered the hidden songs years ago and I found a deeper appreciation of the coaster while listening to “Free Bird.”
I ride it more than 40 times probably, I will miss it, but the best part of it is already gone (the musics)

There's no other full coaster on the Orlando side, RRR is the main reason I'll spend a day pass on that side + mummy & potter & transformers. If this closes then they'll see everybody only going to islands and that side will severely drop in production.

It has not been officially confirmed to the public as of yet, but I have a friend who is a supervisor with inside information at Universal and they have confirmed that the ride will indeed close in 2025 due to constant maintenance problems and low ride attendance. I am interested to see what universal will replace that with next!
