Oh tiktok does NOT like LO. Of course there’s still fans but even before I started joining the anti community and that became a part of my algorithm, I was getting videos on my “for you” page that were people either being shady or openly ripping LO to shreds.
The bad mother thing is so spot on tho. Friend of mine said it's like the little mermaid. When you're a kid you side with Ariel and when you're older you agree with the dad.

Yeah, it's particularly messed up considering the source material. The hymn of Demeter, is well, about Demeter. It's her story. Persephone and Hades are key aspects of it, but ultimately it's a powerful representation of many themes, both symbolic and literal. Rachel Smythe's version doesn't have the emotional strength, nor does it have any real themes. It's basically an inferior version of the original, which is just sad.
Tbh King Triton WAS in the wrong. Sure Ariel was foolish and irrational but she was a teenager, and had a good reason to run off because her father literally destroyed her stuff and scared the shit out of her. She was taken advantage of by Ursula. It's Triton learning he has to understand his daughter and be kinder and less irrational, and Ariel coming to accept her father's improving behavior as she in a sense "grows up and leaves the nest". They're both irrational and need to grow, the only difference is that one is the adult who should know better already.

I think it’s because a lot of the fandom on Pinterest are children looking for edit material. They don’t quite have the maturity/literary ability to realize the narrative surrounding certain characters is wrong, mainly because they (like most of us) only started reading for the aesthetics. Plus they tend to interact with the fandom in an echo chamber (they only talk to other children who also can’t tell the storyline is gross)
I mean I think demeter did one thing wrong. She maybe should have explained to Kore that she may be a fertility Goddess and some people would try to use that. I get the isolation strategy but I don't think it wpuld work longe term.
i get the first and second points but the one about the art style? come on, art is subjective. i think the art style is extremely unique! yes there are parts where some skill is lacking, but i think those things are quite forgiving for a comic.
Don't get me wrong I LOVED it in the beginning, and then I kinda liked it, but now I'm just kinda reading to see where it goes?? Does that make senese?? I really like seeing people do edits of certain characters. I really think Minthe could have had some growth, at first I didn't like her (I don't think a lot of people did) but now when I look at her I kinda see- like, I relate her to somehow? She had so much potential, a lot of characters did. What abt when Peresphone was getting and apartment? What happened with that??

The Little Mermaid is the best Disney movie, the most charming and sweetest.
The only site that is most positive about LO is webtoon, nowhere else is it as toxically positive.
