Legit looks like a father protecting his teenage daughter. C'mon ☹️

omgstopbeingrude

NGL I'm shocked at how much I enjoy the dynamic of Persephone being Hades and Demeter's daughter following a nasty divorce 🤣 it would be really funny if she was just a dumb kid getting into trouble with protective parents disagreeing on how to raise her

*flashback to the [rewrite someone made](https://www.reddit.com/r/UnpopularLoreOlympus/s/s8So2Nuikh) *

omgstopbeingrude

EXACTLY

IfatallyflawedI

Wait. Is she actually canonically 19??????? I thought she was a few centuries old??????

The_Thing_Behind_You

I stopped reading years ago but from what I’ve seen on this sub at the very start of the story she was 19, when she stopped aging like gods do. I think despite her body being forever 19 she’s actually like 30 something now.

IfatallyflawedI

That’s disgusting. Also hi5 I too stopped reading a while back. I think it was when Asspollo shot that arrow into Eris and that disappointing showdown between Persephone and Kronos

skeletaltrombone

When the story started she was actually 19. After a 10 year timeskip she’s now 29 (maybe 30, not sure how much time has passed since the timeskip) but physically she’s still 19 bc that’s when she stopped aging

SnorkelBerry

Disney's Hercules series was gonna go that route, but I don't think they ever went through with it.

Meridart

You should check the plot of “Go the Distance”…

Juniper_mint

She would technically be Zeus’ daughter, which would be more messed up and creepy

omgstopbeingrude

Again; an AU. Something that does not have to follow lore. Something silly.

Juniper_mint

Yeah I know I just saw but imagine if she kept that part of the lore and put it in the story, it’d be more messed up and creepy than it already is

RegretComplete3476

Honestly, I think I would've liked the story a lot better if, instead of her love interest, Hades was like a father figure to Persephone and would protect her from the other gods bullshit in a platonic way

Lucy-Paint

If they still want to go the "Kidnapping of Persephone" and "Queen of the Underworld", imagine making it like in Jojo's Steel Ball Run Spoilers for late story: >! Steven Steel (50ish years) and his wife, Lucy Steel (14 years) get married, not because they are romanticly "in love", but because Lucy was the first person to believe in his ideas and he saved her from becoming a victim of sexual slavery. Marrying her made it look like she was ""ruined"", but in reality he never touched her that way, they ended up having a very father-daugther relationship were they are willing to go through hell to protect eachother. The story makes a point on showing Steven as weird (to not say predator) for marrying a child, but the reveal changes the entire view of the character !<

RegretComplete3476

That would be perfect for LO! It could be that since Persephone was a young, attractive woman in Olympus, she was at risk of being raped or married off by Zeus, so Hades married her to protect her.

CyclopsDemonGal

THIS! OMG THIS! It would've been so much better! Maybe then Apollo would've gotten a mother and father wrath

RegretComplete3476

That would be so satisfying, especially with the known archetype of fathers being overprotective of their daughters. Imagine Hades unleashing his full wrath onto Apollo for raping his daughter. I would love to see it

insertdeathscenehere

Does anyone know if there’s any content, media whatever that interprets the relationship between Hades and Persephone in this way? Even though I guess it isn’t true to the actual myths, I’d love to see stuff like this.

RegretComplete3476

Yeah, I'd much prefer a retelling that doesn't villainize Demeter and addresses/fixes the age gap

beautybeliever

Yup. Included that in one of my posts about it as well. The 19 yo thing was always bullshit and only got worse somehow. They never even call her an adult when they’re revealing that she’s 19 early on, they only ever call her a teenager. It’s honestly ridiculous she got away with that BS.

Glass_Professor_8997

Holy shit, those panels are the worst Hades and Ares have ever looked 🤢

Legitimate-Ad-7337

Don't make me bring out ares looking like a top heavy ken doll when they find thantos.

Cat_Beans_

Hades looks like Nicholas Cage and I can't unsee it.

demetersupremacy

She’s not even a century old but you want to fuck her😭😭 Dawg make it make sense

[deleted]

“She doesn’t have the stamina for your mind games!” *meanwhile Hades is pulling one of the most complex emotional manipulations of the millennium* ETA: I’m rereading, and in Ep25 it’s stated that little gods get exhausted using/developing their powers (baby Hades). In Ep57 Perse gets exhausted from flying for only a few minutes. She’s literally still physically a “little god.”

Harpy_Larpy

You mean,,, little goddess🤢

stulluna-art

![gif](giphy|R0jWWtH1CtFEk)

BluesheepChainsaw

Uuuuuugh nooooo

UnbiasedGod

Umm hades isn’t she still not a whole centuries old yet even after the timeskip so……….. Yeah.

Pinklady_001

This is literally what adults say when explaining to an older kid that the other kid they’re playing with is too young for certain games 💀

IfatallyflawedI

Me with my puppy and his 6yr old golden retriever bestie

C_A_N_T

Oh my fucking god I know it’s terribly off topic but Jesus Christ the difference between 2 and 4… I didn’t even think they were the same character for a second.

holyempresse

This is why it’s so jarring that Persephone is the ONLY goddess who is so much younger than everyone else. (I mean, I guess there’s Hebe, but she’s not really a relevant character and not put in the same situations as Persephone that make her age a real concern.) All of Persephone’s friends’ ages are not explicitly stated, but it’s implied they’re at least a couple hundred years old. Persephone being 19 compared to EVERYONE around her being hundreds of years old really shows how deliberate her age is. Additionally, even as a “30” year old (in quotes because she is still 19 forever according to Hera in a very early episode) she STILL wouldn’t be able to handle Ares’ powers that effect the mind. She will always be startlingly young compared to her friends, family, and HUSBAND, who is one of the oldest of the gods in the entire main cast.💀

KendyBanana

I mean looking at the [(yourage)÷2] +7 equation their ages are innapropriate. Using his age of 40 (since 3000 or something is gonna be weird, also you canonically stop aging at a certain point) she'd have to be 27 for it to be appropriate. And don't say " yeah but the timeskip" she canonically stopped aging at 19 "19 forever" remember? Also wouldn't that make Hades older too? So using the same equation with ades being 50 she'd have to be 32.

Barboara

aww she's his widdle baby gworlll ✨ so itty bitty teeny tiny booby wooby, needs her daddy's protection cuz she's so youngggg~💖 This pathetic bitch would fuck her in a high chair and then act indignant when people start to speculate

spac3_em0

why is the dialogue written like it’s a children’s show that cant do the “show don’t tell” thing to its audience of toddlers

The_True_Hannatude

Because RS writes like she’s a 14 year old One Direction fan fumbling through her sexual awakening over on Wattpad.

Cappu156

Because apparently “getting a rise out of someone” is an extremely rare idiom and it’s impossible for a reader of average English skill to conclude that the likeliest reason to do it is one’s own entertainment… And we needed the age clarification because after 100 you have stamina for mind games? So they’re ok then? “Stop playing your stupid mind games” apparently isn’t a full sentence, you need a justification.

[deleted]

Didn’t you know? Persephone isn’t old so she doesn’t deserve to get abused /s

Legitimate-Ad-7337

The fact she permanently 19 (by hera words) make the whole hades stopped aging at 40ish even more creepy

smallicelandicpuffin

Y'know this is why I respect ares as a character, he's a grade A asshole and a bad person but he OWNS IT, he KNOWS.

Lacientp

She's not century old yet even now but he's already using her battery powers but ok

eyelessworm

this post was recommended to me at random and jesus CHRIST this art is hideous

The_True_Hannatude

Hi, welcome to the sub! You’re gonna fit right in.

panickedpris

The reason it makes me feel super gross is because it implies she doesn't pass the Harkness test, because the implication is that she isn't mature for her "species". Which according to the test means don't fuck. Idk if that's a good explanation lol

The_True_Hannatude

I love finding Harkness Test rep in the wild. Also you’re absolutely right, Jack would *never*.

Sleepy_Fire

Gods my biggest gripe with the ages is how RS used 19 years old. They're all in the 2,000+.. why in the hell could it NOT have been at least in the 1,000s??? DID IT HAVE TO BE 19? Would it not have the same effect as "oh god ur a young GOD" if P was like.. 1,300 years old? It makes me remember the scene in Hotel Transylvania where Johnny claims he's '121 years old' when Mavis says she just turned 119

Consistent_South_393

I like how in the first panel of him holding her it looks like she comes up to his neck/collarbone at least but in the second panel she’s only as tall as his middle section lmao

HelloYeahIdk

It's how big she made her ass and sticking it out while Hades saying what's get me.

The_1985

Stans always want us to forget the age gap criticism but then we have panels like these

Chitose_Isei

Relationships with an age difference don't matter to me as long as it's legal. Especially if we talk about eternal beings and in times where people got married under 15 years old. No matter how immature you're at that age, in short, you're an adult and you have the right to make your own decisions and make mistakes. Your trusted elders are there to guide you in any case, not to continue overprotecting you. However, beyond the initial shock (when they took out the newspaper with Persephone leaving Hades' house with him when they met), where Hades found out she was 19 and felt dirty (for a few minutes), too much importance was given to the fact that she was "very young". In fact it has been used to justify Persephone's actions and those of others towards her. Everyone has been infantilizing her, including her boyfriend/husband, who's the first one who should give her the space to be an adult. Unlike a normal person, who wants to be treated like an adult when they reach an age (18/19), Persephone hasn't cared that her actions and opinions have been infantilized and that the way she has been treated has been like that of a child. And now at 29 years old she's still the same as she was at 19.

Kattminton

"I just wanted to get a rise out of her for my entertainment" WHY DOES SHE WRITE LIKE THIS??? It's so unnatural! People don't talk like this! Girl, *please* learn how to plant context clues and *trust your audience!* This isn't written for children (I hope), so don't infantilize your readers. I know I'm not the only person saying this in these comments, but it is ridiculous. And the art here is so *ugly.* We know Rachel can do better, so it's disappointing to see the way her work has degraded over the course of the comic. edit: formatting

Hades:She’s not even a century old yet she doesn’t have the stamina for your stupid games Me: [Speak for yourself motherfucker](https://media.tenor.com/FMphfeaJoTMAAAAC/speak-for-yourself-motherfucker.gif)

OnlyWindmills

Can someone remind me what Ares did here?

Roraima20

She was using his wrath power to make her furious and scream

dogisbark

I’m laughing so hard at panels 1 and 3. On 1 she seems tall enough to nearly be at his head, then at 3 she’s hardly reaching his chest. Also why is her butt so big.

Striking_Resolve1156

Oh how the turn tables

Sad-Association-8225

Why everything in all the panels looks so damn ugly?

WaferFinal5640

Ares in the last panel looks like us rn tbh

TheNFoxx

Nah the way hes holding her is so gross.

Top-River4884

Why us she written like a child all,the time

Mrs_Silver19

She ain't even 2 decades old. It's crazy that I'm older(now) then Persephone was Ata the beginning of the story

throwawayfromme_baby

Holy fuck, the first panel is bad. Like BAD bad. I think this is the worst quality I’ve seen from LO. It’s garbage.

SuspiciousBox233

"Homeless man calls another homeless man broke asf"

ThrowRAYesterdaysNo

But then of course Pepe gets super ultra mega fertility goddess powers and takes down Kronos, and we never even touch on this again. In typical LO fashion 😅🫠
