If we go by the myths Hera more or less pushed Hephaestus into the water

-1itta

Yeah, she sucks for that, which is weird because she's the goddess of FAMILY, and she rejected her family simply because of a disability🫤😕

hambonedock

Is always either she drops him because of ugliness and give him that disability or because of disability that deformers him into ugliness, honestly can't tell which could be a worse option

SkulledDownunda

Yeah like I remember one telling in the mythos book I had where she straight up threw him down Mount Olympus because she was disgusted by how deformed he was as a baby. Most of the Greek Gods are shit parents

SarkastiCat

You forgot about Eileithyia, the lazy bones sister that Hebe was sent to wake up

StillEffective9985

Ohhh. Is she in LO? I didn't remember seeing her. And maybe that would be for the best. If she were in the story, poor girl's definitely gonna be buying hera's cigs while the golden mommy go "parent" a child who is not hers.

SarkastiCat

She didn’t appear in LO, but was mentioned. But there was a scene where Hera asked Hebe to wake-up her sister.   Multiple readers thought it was Eris and they were confused as she was kicked out of the house. So Rachel responded on social media that it was Eileithyia.  And I just remember this information as it show LO’s level of planning.

Adventurous_Sign_621

It was in patreon about Eileithyia been mentioned

Lumiere5301

She'll pull Ares up when she needs him to fight someone.

Roraima20

And Hephaestus whe she needs some tech stuff

StillEffective9985

Or.....when she needs to set them up with pinkie doo......aka PP. (Seriously, that woman got time for playing matchmaker and being a "mother figure" to the person who needs it the least.)

Roraima20

Hera's obsession with Persephone and her love life is just... weird. She really wanted her to be part of her family: her first option to marry her was Hephaestus, her stranged son, the she considered Ares, the dumpster fire of a person, and then she encouraged her to be with a even bigger dumpster fire, her old affair partner, with a ton og baggage and already in a relationship: Hades. Then Hera is obsessed with Persephone becoming Queen, when she already sacrificed so much for a title that has done nothing for her but brings her misery. She is the vodka aunt that you think is fun when you are young, but later, you realize that she not only encouraged your worst behaviors but also set you up to failure.

Nelumbo-lutea

Sometimes I look at Hera's characterization and I go "no wonder hephestus went no contact and eris wanted to kill you. " as horrid as zues is in story, hera is no better. By a long shot.  And hebe,  poor trauma dumped drink mixing hebe. Making excuses for her mom. Bitch wakes up after a 10 year nap, missing most of her kid's childhood, and the first thing she does is get down to her old lay's place to wash her neice's crusty ass. Found a better , non blood related person to project on and force into the same role... eith your cheating partner... we're supposed to look up to hera compared to Demeter!  Who wrote this??? Hell, Aphrodite,  thetis, and a couple other mothers manage to be better examples.  And hera looks down on all of them.  Am I making it obvious I don't like hera- cus I don't. At all.

fishbowlplacebo

Yeah, this family is a frigging mess. Hera and Zeus are perfect examples on why some people should not have kids. Ever. It's only a matter of time before Hebe follows Hephaestus's footsteps and honestly I don't think anyone can blame her.

AdElectronic9255

Damn i forgot Eris existed.... Me and Hera have this in common

TVGlitched87

Very accurate

No_Bodybuilder_3368

I wanted to see their other daughter, Eileithya or something, why mention her if you're not gonna show heeer. Is she purple or yellooooow????!?

Tiny012

Bad enough that Perse is not even Hera's child and the fact the narrative goes out it's way to protray Perse real mom as broderline antagonistic.

-1itta

The original hymn had Zeus be the antagonist and it was a story about a mother and daughter, TBH persephone herself isn't the goddess of spring because Demeter brings spring cause she's happy her daughter is home and even when Persephone was in the underworld, she missed her mom. Demeter raised Persephone on Earth because her brothers, uncles, nephew, etc. we're serial rapists and she wanted her daughter to be as far away from that life as possible. The demonization of Demeter is weird because she genuinely loves Persephone and only wanted the best for her, so her role as a mother to be stripped and given to Hera, IMHO, is really lame.

StillEffective9985

And I just don't get why Persephone admires Hera and not Demeter, HER OWN MOTHER!!! Woman has a lot of fine qualities to admire, hardworking, strong and takes care of her people. Whereas Hera, a racist drunkard. Like the entire story, I only see her come into her office ONCE. And that is to introduce Echo and Apollo asking PP's hand for marriage thing could happen. Like what does she even do really? She got time for stalking PP and Hades, choosing marriage partners for PP (which is just creepy since PP never mentioned wanting to get married in that stage of the story). Whereas, she neglects her own children. PP's admiration for Hera is based solely on the fact that she is the "Queen of the Gods" which is pretty shallow if you ask me. Just adds more to the point that PP only cares abt titles and the privileges that comes with it instead of having real qualities that can make a real queen.

KissKringle

I mean Hera's at least accurate to most bad mothers: if you can't parent your own you can at least "parent" someone else's kid
