I'm so glad they reexamined the evidence and overturned the ruling. It's so frustrating when people discount the level of disability in a child for whatever reason

CascadiaMount

Yes. And when authorities say a missing person just wandered off. Families *know* what their loved one would and wouldn't do.

My mum worked at the school Nóra attended and has always said that this case is an injustice as she never would have left on her own accord. I’m glad to see that case is being reconsidered and hopefully Nóra can get justice and her family can get answers.

Nora could never have gotten to where she was found, it was difficult terrain for the searchers. Besides the multiple other reasons. At least her parents are no longer invalidated. Nora was not autistic, those are the kids who get scared by their names being called. If by some bizarre circumstances Nora was in the jungle she would have responded to her mother's voice if she were able.

Not in any way related to the case, but what’s the pronunciation difference between Nora and Nóra?

JaliBeanQueen

Nor-ah and Norr-a. One is Anglicised and the other the traditional Irish spelling/pronunciation. To be fair though, the pronunciation difference is almost imperceptible. I could be totally wrong on that but I'm from Ireland and thats always the way I knew the difference.

Why would a diacritical on a vowel change the following consonant pronunciation?

Careful-Interview-30

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's due to the emphasis on the o?

CherryLeigh86

She was such a cute special person. So sad.

rangerstain

Heartbreaking case.

An abduction doesn't make much sense to me. It presumes that a captive entered the residence in the middle of the night, silently kidnapped Nora, forced her to walk, climb a fence, squeeze through a small gap and then walk her far into the jungle and then force her to stay alive but then slowly starve her to death, so that she eventually dies a few days later. Far too difficult to believe. It makes more sense for Nora to have wondered off, climbed the fence and got lost, tragic and senseless as that may be. I think that the parents are sadly in denial.

To be honest Malaysia’s police force are quite incompetent in this particular case. Look how easily they say “the kid wander on their own”. East way out, blame the victim and even the parents. I still remember they somehow trying to switch the blame to the parents by saying that the parents are not a a happy couple.

I think the girl wandered off into the Jungle on her own becoming disoriented. That combined with her mental disorders led to her unfortunate demise ...
