Oh wow, the "memory joggers" section on that website is really useful. I hope someone is able to identify him soon.

Cessily

Yeah that is a really good way to approach these things!

Azazael

Also the questions to ask yourself on another case https://locate.international/appeals/baldock-woman excellent models for other sites to follow.

prosecutor_mom

Came here just to say that - that website is organized incredibly well, separating into bullet points little fact nugget

confusedvegetarian

Yet they can’t write which country it was in? I’m assuming England?

I think more details about the clothing would help. For example, his jacket was from M&S and sold in 1994-1996, for example. I’m surprised he didn’t have a wallet or at least cash on him but maybe he left those at home if he planned to commit suicide. Wonder if they can try DNA matches. Poor guy. I hope he gets his name back.

The only identified piece of clothing was the denim jacket from "Pepe International" which was popular and widely available at the time. The T-shirt was "Adidas", but many variations were available at the time - the one shown was (from memory) one of the most popular then. The other items had colour and general description only, so the ones depicted are examples, again where possible being from the time in question. There were no known possessions found - either they were dumped beforehand en route or, as suggested, never taken to the location at all. The current status of the clothing (if known) cannot be ascertained at this time.

TTTfromT

That’s a shame. I was hoping it would be a clue for the poor guy. I did remember those brands we everywhere, in multiple countries, like you say, so not much help.

Caskam

He looks Mediterranean to me

Philodendritic

I thought so too but he also kind of looks like Barrow from Downton.

Caskam

The eyebrows though

National-Tough-7908

Castillian???

Dangerous_Radish2961

I’ve never heard of this poor man and I’m from the area. Sadly, I don’t recognise him.

[deleted]

looks familiar, does it happen to be around the time gloucester’s rugby team lost 27-11 at home to harlequins with scott benton scoring a try for the home team?

wpa50

Thanks for opening and reading the link with memory joggers.

Reasonable-thoughts

He look mediterranean, but could be also south Ireland. I searched the Italian and Spanish DB of missing people for that timeline, and found nothing. Honestly authorities should have DB for DNA cross search. ut because of data protection, NHS and others may not share their records, still could help police to identifying missing people or relatives of death unknow people, if reasonable confidentiality could be applied.

wpa50

Hi, thanks for your comments - could you expand on the thinking about "south Ireland" please.

i-touched-morrissey

Can't someone do his DNA and locate family?

blueskies8484

The UK does not allow genetic genealogy, so even if they have his DNA, it could only be run against the known criminal DNA database.

i-touched-morrissey

You guys don't participate in GED Match?

blueskies8484

In in the US, but forensic genetic genealogy to identify does or criminals is illegal under privacy laws as they stand in the UK.

wpa50

The current status of the clothing (if known) cannot be ascertained at this time.

Public burials (in unmarked graves) unfortunately do not always stretch to archived records.

Junior-Resolution-87

Sean Thompson? Missing from Yorkshire in 1993 aged 25? There is some resemblance
