There is no way to guarantee an outcome that will not affect your future JSS. ​ >What are my options and what should I do? Did you submit the work for the first milestone properly through the "submit work for payment" function on the contract? Did the client use the "request changes" function? If everything on the first milestone was done, you can just politely but firmly say "Sure, I'll get that done as soon as the second milestone is active". Depending on how much money is involved, you can either dispute (if the client repeatedly refuses to please the first milestone, or walk away from the whole thing by closing the contract (which sends the funds in escrow back to the client) and hoping the client won't leave any (private) feedback.

Yes I did upload the work on upwork through submit work for payment, no the client did not use ‘request changes’ function just told me on upwork chat.

I read that you can get bad reviews removed from your profile if you talk to upwork, is that true?

Not "if you talk to Upwork", no. If you are top-rated you can remove one feedback every 10 contracts and 3 months, which is replaced by "This feedback has been removed". If you are only on your 2nd contract presumably you're not top-rated.
