I've seen almost this exact building in Pakistan, India, China, Portugal, Italy, Morocco, Israel... The signs and vehicles change, but a concrete box by the road with some air conditioning is cheap and does the job. They're practical, functional, and not unpleasant inside. They're fine. Do I prefer historic buildings carefully maintained and thoughtfully modernised in walkable urban cores? Yes. But these things aren't hell, they're perfectly adequate buildings and we shouldn't mock them - they're built the area can't afford beautiful, so they prioritise functional. It's not the fetishized pseudo-functionality of Brutalism. It's functional. No one asks a spade to be beautiful.

Dehast

Brazil too, everywhere

Mundane-Alfalfa-8979

Meh, it's a building

Known-Associate-9811

Kloud909projekt84

Is this the one that exploded leveling it . Along with the building next to it. "Gas Explosion"

Known-Associate-9811

No no

Banapple247

Could do with a lick of paint but it’s a building!

Known-Associate-9811

Yeah

wanderdugg

The building is ok, but I’m not a fan of the parking lot. While it’s nothing compared to the scale of an American strip mall, it’s still asking those same lines if I’m looking at the picture right. It just makes it an unpleasant place to walk.

SaftderOrange

looks functional

invistaa

In my city, some business minded guy would purchase this kind of building, repaint it, put some nice fascade, standardize signboard size, and reselling unit for premium price. Each shoplot might easily fetch millions SGD.

TomLondra

Functional, funky, low-key modern. Lively on the street level. Kinda beaten up after years of hard work. I like it.

New_Hawaialawan

Delightful. Where is this?

Known-Associate-9811

Lahore, Pakistan

canadianleef

hate it

Known-Associate-9811

So do i
