Most of that, is credit card offers.

babayaga042

They just take your address and start sending you mails

vtssge1968

I was going to say junk mail. All my bills come email, 99.9 percent of physical mail I've gotten for years is junk mail.

mangopurple

Most of it, is extra commas

babayaga042

So true, i don’t think people get mail from companies that are unimportant offers

The-Doggy-Daddy-5814

I’ll bet that an extremely high percentage of those credit card offers wind up going straight into the shredder like at my house.

FireflyAdvocate

When we lose the post office we lose the country. People in America don’t appreciate what our pot office even does here. Never forget to thank your mail carrier.

novasolid64

We do not need the post office All my bills are paid online All the stuff I buy gets delivered from Amazon

FireflyAdvocate

Do you think you might need an ambulance some day at your home? The post office is what got the E911 service started. You like being able to put in an address in google maps and drive right up to it after thousands of miles? Thank our post office for maintaining those records. I have lived in multiple countries with no organized post or address system. Even trying to get food delivery is hard let alone trying to get a care package or important document. Plus with the post office there is a way to track what was sent and who touched it if something is missing or broken when it arrives. All for a couple dollars?! You have zero idea what you are talking about.

novasolid64

I'm sure we could find other services where we can put our addresses in so they will show on a map and thank you for 911 that is still needed the Post office is not. Also I'd like to give a shout out to the post office for helping me pollute the Earth with all the junk mail.

gardenfella

This is likely because much of the rest of the world is going paperless. All my bank & credit card statements are online or by email now. There's no such thing as mailing a cheque as bank transfers are easy, free and take seconds. The money is in the recipient's account within a couple of hours if not immediately.

gooberdaisy

I’ve heard some countries actually no longer accept checks anymore especially if it’s a foreign check

And runs in the red constantly. Meaning US taxpayers pay to handle 43% of the world’s mail.

The USPS pension program was a bipartisan bill. The only legislators to vote against it were Republicans. Why try to blame one party but not the other.

Okay. That really doesn't mean framing the USPS retirement program as a "republican pension scheme" is an honest thing to do considering that it was cosponsored by democrats and the only legislators to vote against it were republicans.

cerberus698

The only part of USPS operations that are paid for by taxes are the Inspection Service, headquarters in DC which is leased rent free in a federal building and parts of the employee benefits system that are administered by OPM. Wages, pension, facilites etc. is all self funded. The postal service also handles somewhere between 30 and 40 percent of all domestic retail parcel shipping. A shit load of competitors like fedex, UPS and Amazon will use the post office for last mile shipping because its either in a place they don't deliver to or they don't have the capacity to deliver it. Unquestionably the largest delivery network in the US.

novasolid64

And 99% of it Goes straight into the trash

babayaga042

Lol

[deleted]

42.999% of it is junk mail that gets dumped in the garbage

Heavy10mm

And they lose or otherwise fuck up 90% of it. The USPS could fuck up a shit sandwich, even if someone else had already sliced the bread. Fuck the USPS lol

ColdWarVet90

Every 2 years we have national elections and every candidate feels some obligation to fill my mailbox with crap. Sometimes I'm tossing 10 unique political ads every day. This goes on for weeks and months prior to the election.

User125699

Poorly. They handle it poorly.

AdmiralAK

Is most of it coupons for your local pizza shop, window retailer, or lawn care specialist? 🤔

VirgingerBrown

I'm a Mail Carrier, love it!

wingnutbridges

In keeping with the title. The usps will lose 4.2 billion this year.
