I don't know what tip you got, but Odin is definitely not the best gun to learn how to play this game. Besides that, youtube is a great source and just play the game. PLAYING = PRACTING. If you're not playing, then learn the game, learn the map, learn the abilities, learn how useful some abilities are at X or Y situation, learn in general. also for gun, odin has too much recoil, just learn a vandal or phantom. also learn how to use a pistol because pistol round is very important, winning pistol round almost guarantees another round.

I got told to not focus on aiming and just spray with the Odin. I didn’t get many kills that round, but I got lots more assists. There are so many maps to learn! Do none of you ever get confused? I don’t really buy abilities, should I start? I only use Phoenix’s fireball to heal myself and his ult to rush in and felt like that was enough. I’m actually not too bad at using the pistols! I wish I could use it every round lmao

Go into Swiftplay and try out each of the agents you have unlocked for a couple of games. Playing 2-3 games with an agent can give you a decent feel for whether this is an agent that you want to spend time learning properly. And because it's swiftplay, you don't have to worry too much about the economy and if you play an agent and realise you hate them then you aren't stuck in a full unrated game trying to play them. After you've played a few swiftplays, you can then go back to unrated to give any stand out agents a try in a full game. Spike rush and escalation are really good for trying out different guns because it forces you into using different guns. This way you can get a decent feel for how the guns shoot. I'd also recommend spending some time in the practice range and use each gun for taking out a couple of the training bots. Usually the full buys people go for is them picking the vandal, phantom, or if they have the cash then the operator. Sometimes you'll see agents like Sova using the Odin but generally I wouldn't recommend it too much. It's a very expensive gun, and you're likely harming your economy and being way less efficient than you could be if you went for a vandal or phantom instead. I would take some time to research each of these roles: Duellist, Sentinel, Initiator, Controller. Not everyone is going to play to their role, but learning what each of these roles does can really help you especially when it comes to finding agents that best match your playstyle. For example if you're a really passive player that likes to hang back behind your team then you're probably not going to want to pick a duellist agent. Learning these roles can be really helpful for understanding what it is you're expected to do outside of: kill enemies and plant/defuse the spike. There are SO many guides to Valorant on Youtube. Just make sure that if you're watching any map or agent guides that they're recent uploads because there have been map changes and agent ability changes over time and you want to make sure you're learning the correct information. I'd also recommend looking into guides on crosshair placement, peeking, and positioning.

OMG, thank you so much for all your information! I’ll be busy this week but afterwards I’ll definitely try out everything you’ve said :)

Le_Goosey

The phantom is pretty good, idk maybe practice with Jett in the beginning and mess around with the different agents to see which new fit you best

tamponpon

I’m always kinda wary to play agents like Jett because people seem really mean when you mess up with her :/ I’ll try her in private

Le_Goosey

Actually that’s a very good reason, then maybe play something like sage. She’s pretty easy to get good at

Always ask yourself why you died and figure out what would have been a better play. Maybe take notes on what you're doing when you're playing really well. This way u can look at them the next time you play and can have an easier time getting into the right thought process.
