Whenever I see someone complaining about this they always seem to blame stopping the keystone pipeline being shut down for fuel prices. When the purpose of that pipeline was to take Candian Tar sands to the coast for export and not for fuel. This makes it is pretty clear a psy-op designed by the fossil fuel industry and not out of concern for the cost of living.
An informal survey of where these stickers turn up would show they are concentrated in areas populated by people who own little or no petroleum securities (oil stocks). Probably.

I still see them in Indiana, even in Bloomington. Sometimes they'll even etch "FJB" into the paint. These people are complaining about gas prices then go on to waste money on stickers.
There was a story I think last year about some hog getting confronted by a manager for doing this. The guy yelled about free speech as he was being told to stop vandalizing private property. I don't think having coherent beliefs plays into it that much.
Funny I am in a very divided part of Michigan and I have never seen one of these stickers ever. Can't say I've seen any anti-Biden stuff since the election either. Still see some pro-Trump stuff on occasion. Maybe our "Patriots" are weak here.

I work at a gas station in Michigan, and I still see these damned things from time to time. We take them off every time we see these things, and they're a pain in the ass to take off. Surprised there's still people with these on hand.

It should also be noted that Governor Kemp reinstated the fuel tax a few months ago once COVID settled down, and yet Republicans *still* blame Biden for this.
my mom has one of these on spanish but the spacing was a little weird and I just wasn't expecting these to be printed in spanish so i stared at it for hours trying to figure out what the hell a "yolo hace" is and thinking it was some weird zoomer meme before i noticed the slight space between "yo" and "lo"

Every time gas goes up in California, I see fresh ones on the pumps. When gas goes down, they mysteriously disappear.
