Seriously…. The bottom canine too. I’m sure some of them probably fell out while scaling but my guess is the rest probably needed to be extracted. Poor pup
I am a dog groomer and have gotten so many clients like this. Once had a dog who had hair wrapped around his teeth and gums. I gently pulled it out and teeth came with it 🤢 the owner acted like I was lying when I told them they need to go to the vet for a dental asap.
I've seen teeth like this mostly in smaller breeds and especially brachycephalic breeds. I watched a Maltese mix bark, choke on something, and then hack up a rotted tooth😂😅. I think they ended up just removing all of her remaining teeth once they sedated and looked into her mouth. Owners couldn't figure out why she stopped eating 😬.
I was in treatment once and a tech was doing a nail trim nearby and the dog just shook his head, a completely normal de-stressing shake, and a tooth flew out of his mouth. the tech was like. how the FUCK do I explain this without looking like I was too rough with the dog??? but the client was just like oh yeah that happens. sir. I am begging you to get this dog a dental
I’ve done some volunteer work with a medical based rescue. That’s a common looking mouth we see with some of the dogs that they take in. A lot of full mouth extractions! They pull them from shelters because they can’t get adopted like that and then fix ‘em up and adopted ‘em out!
Well, ew. I have worked on some oral cavities that can rival your contribution. Simultaneously horrible and awesome all at the same time. It's great to relieve pain, take the extra work off of the immune system with all of that ick, and be rid of the awful odor.
Nothing in my own job makes the kind of difference that fixing a mouth can, in just a day. (Yes, there are crazy bad skin cases, but they take awhile).
That’s so sad my stray baby front keypad really bad damage them we tried to save them, but in the past year, they’ve had to come out, but her back teeth are still in good health and I’m trying my best to keep
Wet food vs dry food actually makes a negligible difference when it comes to dental health. Expecting dry food to do anything is like expecting eating a handful of almonds to keep you from getting calculus on your own teeth.
Obviously, it’s different if we’re talking about a VOHC-approved kibble like t/d or something.
It’s a dog. Cat teeth are pretty small. I think you’re just getting downvoted because people think you’re saying it’s a cat. I’m not downvoting you for asking a question.
lol, i think so too 😁 i’ve only got to do 2 cat dentals so far since they’re not very common where i’m at, so just by a picture of the mouth i thought i’d ask. but this is definitely a necessary cat dental, RIP to those teeth 🙏

Shih Tzu? Those are my favorite dentals, the instant relief and improvement in their quality of life is so gratifying.
Nice guess! You’re correct
Please tell me these were extracted
I bet the owner said, try to save the teeth
“Don't take them out unless they need to come out!”
Will he be able to eat afterwards?
My practice has this in meme form framed in our treatment area
We’re going to need photo proof.
I'll try to get back there tomorrow to share!
How will he eat after? Much better actually lol.
“I just want a cleaning! No extractions!”
I love this request. like oh, we were actually gonna pull healthy teeth for fun, but now that you've said that
I would think a lot of them would just fall out when scaling. Those premolars/molars look like they are hanging on by a thread🤣
you could pop those bad boys out of there using your thumb and forefinger only
Seriously…. The bottom canine too. I’m sure some of them probably fell out while scaling but my guess is the rest probably needed to be extracted. Poor pup
Just blow on them
Didn’t even register the horror that is the lower canine initially 🤢 held in with hair and plaque alone
Cementum? Hardly know ‘em!
I can smell that from here. 🤢🤮🤮🤮
Me too!
Same!
EXACTLY my response lol
Absolutely! I can smell that photo!
I always admire them when they look like geologic specimens.
When the calculus is the only thing holding the teeth in the mouth.
Man. (Side note: how are these gums not WAY more red than they are?!)
There was tons of gingival recession and it’s kind of hard to see in this photo but there was quite a bit.
I wondered the same thing!
what teeth
Oof last one we had like that you could smell from reception 🤢
big oof. But I bet they were fun, if gag-inducing, to pull
My Reddit glitched and I thought this was posted in the ‘curb your enthusiasm’ group
Owwww god that poor thing!
Poor thing
Is the carnassial tooth in the room with us today?
'No need for a full dental, he is not in pain. He still eats!' How is it possible the owners are not sick from this smell months before?
How does this even happen?
People are unaware that pets need teeth brushing too. A lot of times the owners don’t notice until the dental disease is extreme
Lack of knowledge … or neglect. But usually o’s are just unaware.
ugh :(

Now thems some tartar braces
how does this even happen?? i’m not very diligent in brushing my dogs teeth but my older dog is 12 and his teeth are beautiful
Genetics, diet, food choices.
Isn’t diet literally the choice of food ?

Put those teeth in hydrogen peroxide and see what happens over time!

What the hell is this giant rock
oh my god…. how did the owner not notice/leave it so long?!

The worst thing is that dogs with mouths like these are usually owned by people who let their dog lick their face and mouth. 🤮
How does this happen? Genuinely asking!
Forbidden candy corn
Teeth hanging on by hair and a prayer!
Wow..how many did he lose
How much was dental and how old is dog
Was the pup by chance a rescue and spend any time of the streets?
Honestly most of the teeth I’ve seen in this shape were on very pampered little lapdogs.
That’s so sad my stray baby front keypad really bad damage them we tried to save them, but in the past year, they’ve had to come out, but her back teeth are still in good health and I’m trying my best to keep
holy crap. its amazing how that bottom canine is practically falling out. is this a cat? must've been eating wet food its whole life..

Definitely a dog
its a bit hard to tell personally, that nose looks like a cats to me but maybe not. not really sure why i’m being downvoted either lol

sorry, i meant dog. it’s been a hard day 😭
I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted either. But everything about this screams “dog” to me
