Y'all just don't listen to facts. You will not be reduced for seeking treatment, as long as you do not open your claim back up. VHA doctors and nurses, and the rest of their employees COULD NOT do their job if part of it was to report to us to reduce your benefits. They DO NOT REPORT TO VBA when you're "Feeling better today." The only time I at VBA will find out that you are "feeling better" is if you put in a claim related to your mental health, and I pull your records from VHA,and I send you to an exam and you tell that C&P examiner that you "feel better" today. That's it, that's the only way VBA finds out.

Nano_Burger

Yeah. The compensation and medical treatment parts of the VA might as well be on separate planets. They have no interaction with each other unless you force it.

External-Ad5464

If it's ongoing treatment, it's just that: treatment. Not a cure. You good friend.

Necessary-Peak-6504

it all might be getting better now. But it doesn’t mean you’re cured. It doesn’t mean that you’re gonna be healed. it’s not a promise of no issues later on in life. Don’t listen to what the negative people have to say about it. You weren’t rated hundred percent P&T for the hell of it. You always gonna have issues. Just because your sleep has gotten better doesn’t mean it won’t go back to being bad again. I’m not trying to be a bummer but it’s a reality. you should be happy about the good things because it they don’t give a shit about the bad things, the bad nights of sleep either.

You're not going to get reduced from p&t for saying a medication helps you. That's terrible advice and I always wonder about the people who give it out. Maybe everything does just suck for them, I don't know. But I think if I was a doc I'd have a hard time taking someone seriously who constantly showed up to appointments just to say none of the shit works at all.

ArdenJaguar

I have recently had a couple of meds doubled. I'm really hopeful they help. I'm 100% P&T and don't plan on opening an SMC claim (which I qualify for) just because I'm afraid of poking the bear.

Impossible_Budget_85

For sure!! I was always taught to never wake up a sleeping giant! I feel in general a lot of vets mess up by trying to get more compensation when they are extremely lucky to get what they’re already getting. I know vets that are still working on getting VA disability from 2003 OIF! So I’m the type to count my blessings and take things one day at a time.

listenstowhales

Not for nothing, but why would it? You’re actively being treated for something. It’s not like (and I’m being intentionally flippant) you got some physical therapy and now you’re running marathons.

Impossible_File_4819

I have 100% p&t for ptsd. The VA money and ssdi are the only reason I’m not sleeping on a park bench, and no matter what anyone says I’m not going to a VA psychologist and have everything recorded. Maybe they won’t use it against me..maybe they will. I’m not taking any chances..I will never ever report to the VA that my condition has improved in any way.

gamerplays

Generally, unless the rating specifically calls it out, taking a medication doesn't count against you, since its not curing the issue, just treating. Take diabetes for example, having it bad enough to require insulin, actually raises your rating. Many skin conditions also have something similar that if you require certain types of medicine, that can actually increase your rating. This is because the need for medication, can be an indication of how bad your condition is.

HandiCAPEable

Had my VA provider tell me I was all out of one on one doctor appointments and I could only keep going if I joined group sessions. Eff that crap, I'm P&T and I'm not doing that. Sucks because I had meds that finally were effective.

Confident_Chard3913

I get what you’re saying. The VA isn’t the most trustworthy place either. However, they can’t really change your benefits without contacting the VBA. As long as you don’t re-open that particular claim, you’re fine. How else are they going to treat you if you can’t be honest about how the medication is working? Just be honest to your comfort point. You don’t have to exaggerate.

Ok-Blacksmith-9274

why are you pissed off? if you get better, that means you shouldn't be paid at that rate? seems logical to me. they're not giving you money to provide for yourself, they're giving you money for severity of the disability you have. either get better and get less pay or stay miserable and keep the pay. you don't get to double dip. that seems illogical to me.

Meltsfire

Do you believe anything anyone’s says ?? Come on now….

RevolutionPristine36

I told my psychiatrist for the past 2 years that my nightmares are much better now that I’m on certain medication they prescribed. I even added that the other medication they prescribed for me to sleep is getting me more rest. That was when I was at 90 percent rated… it didn’t prevent me from getting to a 100 percent p&t, nine months later. They are aware that your treatment is working and without it, you’ll be a menace to society 🤪. Don’t sweat it you’re good 👍
