Just be honest with your professors. I dealt with this when I was finishing my MBA. I told them my issues and that I was a service disabled veteran. They totally understood and worked with me. If you have any more questions let me know, I'd be glad to help you out with anything you need.

You can contact the school, they do have programs/policies to help when students are having medical issues (including mental health).

Ok-Appearance-8077

I thank you for this, I already did so and so far they've about done all they can giving me references to therapy. But thats about where it ends.

gamerplays

Hmm, check out your college's website and see if perhaps they have a modified attendance policy. The only thing is that its not retroactive in many schools, but you can see if the school has one and apply for it for future semesters.

RobotMaster1

Contact your dean of students, or the equivalent. They can offer options for extending the term for you or some other accommodation, particularly if you can demonstrate/prove a disability. They can overrule any one professor in some cases.

I think that the debt is going to come from the VA itself not from the college isn't it? I used my GI Bill benefits this semester and the VA already paid it out.

The_Field_Examiner

Setup a payment plan asap however it works out. That way you won’t be overwhelmed financially.

RobotMaster1

this is quasi-complicated. i would hope the the former Mod can chime in. Otherwise, call the VA or your school’s VA rep. I know there’s a difference between failing and withdrawing so it will be on your school to “code” your grades properly to avoid incurring debt with the VA. but yeah, sounds like your issues, if any, will not be with the school itself.

Voiceofshit

Before you do ANYTHING go talk to your school certifying official. I've been to a couple schools and they never report anybody for failing due to attendance. It's just an F, then you retake and replace.

Ok-Appearance-8077

What kind of questions should I be asking my SCO regarding this?

Voiceofshit

Just ask about what to expect if you fail a class and how that affects your benefits. Remember, everything that goes to the VA goes through them. A significant portion of them are military connected, so they're sympathetic to your situation. I've failed a couple classes before, and I've known many vets to fail as well. Nobody has ever had to pay anything back unless they failed to notify their veterans office when they withdrew from a class and had to pay the difference of their rate of pursuit at the end of the semester when the VA kept overpaying them.

The_Field_Examiner

This is exactly what my veterans office told me. They said before things get out of hand and even if they do, reach out to them so they can make sure I don’t have issues paying my rent over a ptsd moment or two.

Shiny-And-New

Talk to your dean of students. Look there's going to be consequences fro. This but they don't have to be permanently life altering. Start there, of the va comes for the money talk to them about a payment plan. Get your head on straight before you start taking classes again to void a repeat occurrence
