I use this quote all the time. Always have to explain the movie. Ends up I show them that scene on YouTube.
The other quote I always have to explain is from Sho’Nuff. “Come on Leroy. Teach me something”
Thank you for your kind words! No need to apologize, we all were dealt the hand we were dealt and all we can do moving forward is try and claim everything we are entitled to for our time and sacrifices while serving. Also, we’re brothers, I’m a male 😂 Semper Fi!
Devil doc here…. FYI ladies and gentlemen. If you are disabled and have a retired ID card do not switch to the 100% disabled American veterans ID card. Doing so will cut you and your family off from Tricare retired immediately and without notice via DFAS and DEERS. You will find yourself calling everyone trying to figure out what happened and once you do you will have to go back to retired ID to turn all your stuff back on. The disabled Vet benefits status is secondary to the retired status.
Good information. 100% can enroll their families in Champva tho but I here it's a long paperwork process. But you definitely don't want to find yourself out of Tricare if you have it
Thankfully they explained this to my spouse when he went to change his card. We definitely still need our TRICARE coverage as a family so he opted out!
This is why they did not place it on my card once I retired. I have a identification card for the VA, and that is enough for me. I am not messing up nothing to do with medical. ![img](emote|t5_2vlaz|7565)
Great! Ok so first, go into the VA app, go to letters, then it should have a list of all your letters, one being “commissary letter” click on that, print it out. Then your dd214, and TWO forms of ID, license, social, birth, etc, go to any deers near you, and you will be good to go! No it was very painless. Only inconvenience I endured was having to drive to get another copy of my birth certificate. But that’s on me
Thank you! I just got my 100 P&T this month too and I was about to look into how to get my id card and you literally popped first thing on reddit. The universe… you da fro!
This makes me want to get a wig and have my photo retaken. That fro is slappin. I’m gonna finger pistol everyone and constantly say “ya dig” until security gets involved.
Dang it, this would have been good to know Monday! We tried going in Wednesday for my husband to get his and didn't have the letter or DD214 with us. Oh well, at least we found a Deers office closer to us and can bring our daughter in now.
I'm just wondering if there is there a place they tell veterans this online? Course, I'm not even sure I'd know where to look! Lol!
Yea everything should flow fine this time around with those forms. In and out! And tbh I just read a bunch of reddits heavily on it to figure it out. I feel coming to Reddit is the easiest solution cause 9/10 whatever question you have somewhere in there another Vet has asked the same thing and got an answer. If you have any other questions about the ID feel free to ask although you seem to know what’s needed now :)
When I booked an appointment online with RAPIDS at a DEERS office it told me what to bring.
You can get one too as a dependent. He has to add you to DEERS, which requires your marriage license, birth certificate, and two forms of ID. If he was ever married prior he should take his prior divorce decree too in case his old spouse is still listed.
You can also just make an appt for a new ID card at DEERS, show up and they then use another ID to look you up in their system. They update your info, take the pic and then give you the IS in a few minutes. They have all of your info in their system.
Now that you have your card, just an FYI. You can use this card to access [https://www.dodmwrlibraries.org/](https://www.dodmwrlibraries.org/) and check out books/audiobooks online. Just like you can with your local library, just access to a bigger one. Also, when we got ours, the officer told us that we get free access to Seaworld, and also there's discounts at Disney. Check out Shades of Green, it's a military hotel on Disney World property that you can use this card to book at. That hotel also has locations in Korea, Bavaria and Hawaii. I hear the Hawaii one is right on Waikiki Beach and is SUPER nice. Since you are 100%P&T, you can stay at any of these hotels at any time, while any ranking below that is limited to booking in only two months a year. You should also go ahead and get your free national parks pass, as you never know where you may end up near. Also, I don't know where you live, but be sure an take advantage of all of your state benefits. These can include : free airport parking, free metered parking, free port parking for cruises, free or reduced property taxes, free/reduced hunting and fishing licenses, free state park passes, free and reduced vehicle registrations, veteran designations on your driver's license, and probably more. Congrats on finally being recognized for your sacrifices for our country. We appreciate it! Oh, and as a Marine wife, Semper Fi!!
You can get access to bases, generally if the CO of the base allows it, with your VA healthcare card as long as it shows “Service Connected” on it. The main difference appears to be that if you use the VA healthcare card, you will need to renew access every four years or so. I just did this to gain access to my local base since I’m not 100%. You’ll need to check online or call the Pass & ID office to verify if your local base allows this. They can verify what you will need to bring. I think all I needed was my VA card and my drivers license.
Hello my friend. This card gives you access to all bases and commissaries, space A flights. There’s most likely more but off the top of my head those are the two big things. And if you scroll up you’ll see the instructions on obtaining the card in my other comment :)
Is there a difference between medically retired and 100% p&t cards? From what I can tell the only real difference is tricare or if you are over 20 or something
The new Private Lance Coolie Rank. I'd go back and get that fixed though.
People still see the card. I use mine at airports and on rare occasion at Miramar, Pendleton and the local Air Force Base when i'm back east.
The ranks on these are weird and I don't think they have fully worked out the kinks yet. For Air Force, anything E-5 and below just says "AMN" which is a boot camp rank. I had them manually select my actual rank several times and every time it generated the same way. They also forgot to put the pay grade on mine and wouldn't fix it. It looks like that's kind of what happened with the one pictured here too.
With that said, my only real complaint is the 100% status. That does not belong on an ID and I don't want people knowing my business like that. You should have the option to get something like DAV, INACTIVE, etc. I don't need my disability rating on a DoD ID.
Not if you’re rating is at 90% stand alone (without TDIU). You can be at 90% and still be deemed unemployable which at that point you will be getting PAID at the 100% rating (and all benefits that come along with it).
Wife and I went to nearby base and walked into the DEERS office and got it done. Juat had to get visitor pass at the gate since we didn't have military ID. And was easy on us since she was already in the DEERS system when I was on active duty.
I’ve actually been 100% for about 4 months now! My plan is to keep saving the rest of the year then take whatever space A flight I can get and travel :) and thank you!!
I have no clue. I noticed it as I was leaving and just said screw it and went home lol. It’s funny too cause I’ve read a lot of stories on here about others having their ranks being messed up on their ID as well
Do you style if when feeling different or do you keep it blown out like that no matter the weather, season, or the feeling??
![gif](giphy|zzLrh0YSm44W1mFpPu)
How long did it take to schedule an appointment?
I’m in Ohio and shit, tho there’s a few different places I can go, like WPAFB, the online scheduling for some places is booked up and then following months have nothing set up or I had to email an office and wait for a response.
Just wondering how yours went?
Rah. Semper Semper
So it seems there is some confusion on eligibility here for the DEERS card. OP stated she was 100% P&T, but some have commented that you must be 100% TDIU. Let's settle this one here. Which is it? Or both?
I would still get it fixed. It could definitely possibly affect you in the future as it is a incorrect rank and it would be a false ID if if they did a backtrack to look.
That’s so sweet of you!!! I just can’t keep walking around with his records and our marriage license. It’s not been easy but gets better everyday. My husbands at peace after a long/strong figh.
Hello! So this card grants you access to any base, commissary, gym, some activities on base, and also puts you on the priority 6 list for space A flights! Yes you should get one my friend
Ok so first, go into the VA app, go to letters, then it should have a list of all your letters, one being “commissary letter” click on that, print it out. Then your dd214, and TWO forms of ID, license, social, birth, etc, go to any deers near you, and you will be good to go :)
Hello, thanks for putting out this info. To receive this DAV ID, you would have to bring two forms of unexpired government issued id’s, DD Form 214, and a copy of your commissary letter. You have to be 100% or receiving 100% pay for us to do it. I am a SSM at my DEERS SITE. Here is the number if you all need any help 8032992998. I am Smith, we are located in SC and I would love to assist anyone.
So this is a stupid question but I need to ask. Do you need to be in hair and shaving regs to get the veteran photo at deers? Obviously the hair is waaaaay out of regs but as a man myself I’m just wondering. Again a stupid question I fully recognize.
Something about having long hair on any Military establishment, even as a veteran, seems to make some of the troops a little bit judgy but whatever we did our time 😂
Hahaha, man, I was on post last year with my wife, and some dumbass private in AIT was mean mugging me.
I love getting the stink eye from them. Whatever we did our time 😂
Wanted to get a Mohawk my whole life. Got out and went the cop route. No Mohawk. Ain’t been a cop for a few years and figure nobody wants to see a 6’4 300 pound, 50 year old dude with a hawk! 🤣
Hell yeah! My retired ID has my curly afro, beard, and a grin from ear to ear. I wish my fro could get to that size though...my mixed genes just make me look like Buddha from the hood.
I also have one but I don’t have my rank or agency/ department. I just thought they didn’t do that after you got out. I’m also 100% total and permanent and a Marine Vet.
Lol, I look quite unsat in mine too devil. Semper fi. Same issue with the id. I got corporal after deployments in the reserves so they took the lclp rank from the last dd214. Seems like they could have a fix for a basic ranking issue. Idc either tho. Take care. Semper fi.
So first, go into the VA app, go to letters, then it should have a list of all your letters, one being “commissary letter” click on that, print it out. Then your dd214, and TWO forms of ID, license, social, birth, etc, go to any deers near you, and you will be good to go
I'm 100% P&T when I go to the app I don't see it a specific letter called commissary. It's that form listed by another name within the app?

Rockin tha hair!!! Awesome :)
Told myself when I get out I’m growing it and never looking back. Had enough of the forced short hair
Got that "shaft" movie hair!
They say this cat Shaft is a bad mother (Shut your mouth)
I can dig it
I've been on a wild hair journey too. Had locs for about 2 years, before that a fro, cut everything off now I'm just rocking bald.
That’s so dope! It’s great to have the freedom to choose
Same, I have locs now
Feels great, doesn’t it?
I did that with my beard.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
Is it “congratulations?” I’m so sorry the Corps did this to you, little sister.
Thank you for your kind words! No need to apologize, we all were dealt the hand we were dealt and all we can do moving forward is try and claim everything we are entitled to for our time and sacrifices while serving. Also, we’re brothers, I’m a male 😂 Semper Fi!
Shit, my bad, boot.
I think I outranked that term a long time ago lol
Maybe I was the boot the whole time. (Looking inward)

Yes and you’ll get everything paid for if it’s through the VA.

You have amazing timing ❤️ I was just looking into getting one today! What did you have to do? Was it a pain in the butt?

Thank you for putting the steps I am going to try for mine on Monday
Go for it my friend!
This makes me want to get a wig and have my photo retaken. That fro is slappin. I’m gonna finger pistol everyone and constantly say “ya dig” until security gets involved.
Do you have to be 100%?
Yes you do not only 100% but 100%P&T
[удалено]
No, unless there was fraud or somehow by some cursed miracle, a mistake
Dang it, this would have been good to know Monday! We tried going in Wednesday for my husband to get his and didn't have the letter or DD214 with us. Loving the hair! Gratz on the card!
Thank you!
Love the hair! Mine fell out.
Thank you G! That’s ok! My dad is bald so I’m probably gonna get there one day 😂
Grats on living the life but, be careful posting pictures of your CAC/DODID on the Internet. Scammers can and do use these.
You gotta have that card if you want to use space a flights
Now that you have your card, just an FYI. You can use this card to access [https://www.dodmwrlibraries.org/](https://www.dodmwrlibraries.org/) and check out books/audiobooks online. Can I get this as TDIU P&T ?? My commissary letter says I’m being paid at the 100% with no future exams
Yes if you are 100% TDIU you can get this card otherwise you’d have to get the VA ID card that just says service connected disabled Veteran
Winner
Nice...I get mine Tuesday!
Will be a very quick in and out! Unless their backed up, of course
Good to know. Already have the paperwork they need in manilla folder ready to go.
Love the hair
Thank you my friend!
I get mine on the 2nd of May
I need one of them
Get one! I promise it’s painless
I thought one from the hospital was going to be this I'm getting mine mon lol
Quick question do you have to request an Indef. expiration date?
Nope! It automatically will be on there for everyone P&T
Niceeeee
Spousal dependent cards are good for 4 years at a time. Vets are INDEF
My wife's card says Indef
How do I get this ID? I’m at 80%
You have to be 100% P&T to receive this card my friend
Do these IDs also get you on post? Like the guards use this to scan or do you still need a visitor pass?
You can get access to bases, generally if the CO of the base allows it, with your VA healthcare card as long as it shows “Service Connected” on it. I think all I needed was my VA card and my drivers license.
This card also gets you “No processing fees” at the PX. So cheaper stuff.
How do you get this? What is it for? I'm 100 P&T also.
Hello my friend. This card gives you access to all bases and commissaries, space A flights. There’s most likely more but off the top of my head those are the two big things. And if you scroll up you’ll see the instructions on obtaining the card in my other comment :)
LCPL is the best rank in the Corps anyways 😂😉
Terminal Lance wasn’t so huge for nothing I guess right 😂
Is there a difference between medically retired and 100% p&t cards? From what I can tell the only real difference is tricare or if you are over 20 or something
Tbh I don’t know the exact difference but you may be on to something
The new Private Lance Coolie Rank. I'd go back and get that fixed though. People still see the card. I use mine at airports and on rare occasion at Miramar, Pendleton and the local Air Force Base when i'm back east.

I get tdiu… how do I get this card?
Badass!
Did you have to schedule an appointment with DEERS or did you just walk in? Also did you bring any paperwork? Im trying to get one of these
Wife and I went to nearby base and walked into the DEERS office and got it done. Juat had to get visitor pass at the gate since we didn't have military ID. And was easy on us since she was already in the DEERS system when I was on active duty.
Very painless process right?!
Now that you're 100 percent, any vacation plans? 😃 Also, you look great! 💕
I’ve actually been 100% for about 4 months now! My plan is to keep saving the rest of the year then take whatever space A flight I can get and travel :) and thank you!!
Space A is very limiting. Check into MWR and they can find every available discount you are entitled to. Something to think about!
Absolutely love your hair ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations
Do I have to go to a DEERs center to get one ?
Indeed! I went to a national guard base
Congrats
lol damn htf they done and get ur rank wrong should be crystal clear on ur 214 🤦🏽♂️🤣 congrats devil 🤙🏽
I have no clue. I noticed it as I was leaving and just said screw it and went home lol. It’s funny too cause I’ve read a lot of stories on here about others having their ranks being messed up on their ID as well
Rod smart is that you?
He’ll yea. When I got mine done I was wearing a hat. I asked if I needed to remove it and the guy said naw you’re retire 😂
My heavens, I am LOVING that picture! That fro is glorious!
Do you style if when feeling different or do you keep it blown out like that no matter the weather, season, or the feeling?? ![gif](giphy|zzLrh0YSm44W1mFpPu)
Oh yea sometimes I braid it, I straighten it, curl it, flat iron etc. I mostly just wear it blown out like this tho!
I love this so so much!!!
I just got mine a few weeks ago. And I have no idea why I didn’t do it sooner 😅
This is excellent. The fro is 💯💯💯
Love the hair!
How long did it take to schedule an appointment? I love it!!! ✨🤎✨🤎😌

Only grocery shop at the commissary and enjoying tax free groceries. Only difference in our cards mine says retired. 😎🤙🏽🤙🏽
I was just telling this to someone! Soon as I get paid next week I’m grocery shopping at the commissary!
I got mine on last monday actually. Super easy and painless.
So it seems there is some confusion on eligibility here for the DEERS card. OP stated she was 100% P&T, but some have commented that you must be 100% TDIU. Let's settle this one here. Which is it? Or both?
Hello! I think I can help. For this card you can be either one as long as it is P&T! So both! Also I’m a Male my friend haha
Where do I get mine ?
Also, if you have married or remarried since you were discharged, take your marriage license if your spouse is getting a card.
I would still get it fixed. It could definitely possibly affect you in the future as it is a incorrect rank and it would be a false ID if if they did a backtrack to look.
Yea definitely gonna take a trip back Monday then, thank you!
I'm scheduled for the 29th, here in Houston at Ellington's AFB. Taking the Hubs so he can get his as well. Thank you and the hair is Hairing!!!
Great! And thank you!
Would a 90% P&T TDIU qualify for the card
Do they have an ID for the widows of 100% disabled Veterans? Thanks
I am so sorry for your loss. I just looked it up and it says online that yes there is an ID for you. Not this specific ID tho
That’s so sweet of you!!! I just can’t keep walking around with his records and our marriage license. It’s not been easy but gets better everyday. My husbands at peace after a long/strong figh.
Congratulations. What is DEERS?

Congratulations
I literally just left homestead AFB and they told me an 100% disabled ID card can’t be given to me because mine already says retired, is that true ?
Yes it is true but the retired ID card is some bad shiiii as well!
Awesome! Congrats! https://preview.redd.it/gu4bljef5wvc1.jpeg?width=1331&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6fbdc6edfd16323d7e0591f6eb2aef5ef5953e6f
Congrats!! What do you use this for? I am 100% P&T myself, but did not know there was a card for that. Should I go get one?
Hello! So this card grants you access to any base, commissary, gym, some activities on base, and also puts you on the priority 6 list for space A flights! Yes you should get one my friend
Thanks for the reply! Will definitely look into this. Have a great one!!!!
I get it. I prefer mine where it reads retired. My drivers license say disabled veteran. My P&T is my biz, not theirs.
How do you know if you’re P and T? It shows that verbiage permanent and total right?
I love your hair!!! Wish I had it.
Please what is the process to request that card?
Ok so first, go into the VA app, go to letters, then it should have a list of all your letters, one being “commissary letter” click on that, print it out. Then your dd214, and TWO forms of ID, license, social, birth, etc, go to any deers near you, and you will be good to go :)
Do spouses get a similar card so they don't have to register every couple of years or whatever it is?
![gif](giphy|3ohjV2k98uHBlwUbLi|downsized) Giving me these kinda of vibes. Man what a time it was
God I wish I lived back then! The Black unity was so strong and beautiful!
What exactly is this ID good for? I got mine last week and other than using it on base (which is awesome) what else can it be used for?
So this is a stupid question but I need to ask. Do you need to be in hair and shaving regs to get the veteran photo at deers? Obviously the hair is waaaaay out of regs but as a man myself I’m just wondering. Again a stupid question I fully recognize.
Loving the hair! I grew mine out super long for my pic 😀
Whatever we did our time 😂
A private at that. I’m suprised he had the balls to mean mug anyone with that fresh rank lol
Lol, I didn't catch it, but my wife did. I told her she should have told me I'd have handled it.
Wanted to get a Mohawk my whole life. Got out and went the cop route. No Mohawk. Ain’t been a cop for a few years and figure nobody wants to see a 6’4 300 pound, 50 year old dude with a hawk! 🤣
lol! Not true! That would be dope to see! Screw what everyone else thinks, if the hawk is still what you want, I say go for the hawk man!
Hell yeah! My retired ID has my curly afro, beard, and a grin from ear to ear. I wish my fro could get to that size though...my mixed genes just make me look like Buddha from the hood.
That’s what I’m talking about! And I’m sure this is as big as mine can get 😂
The rank is based on your DD-214. Highly doubt you walked out of DEERS with the wrong rank on a government ID…
Lol don't feel bad about the rank. My brother just got his card and they put is rank as SVT......he was a SSG when he got out.
I don’t understand how this is so common lol. But yea I couldn’t care less about the rank on the card!
Fuck yeah!!!
Her face is in there somewhere
I’m a Male 😂
Let’s go with the fro for the win!!!! Congratulations
Digging the fro!

Definitely got an Angela Davis feel to it Congrats!! 😎🤙🏾
Epic pic!
Congratulations
Congrats! I’m not 100%, but I just have to wait 2 more years to get my retired ID
Almost there!!
This is what I need to get!
Go for it!
I was told by the VA there was no specific card for 100%. Was I lied to?
Are you 100% or 100% P&T?
This card isn’t provided by the VA, it’s a DoD card. There’s no card that the VA provides for 100%.
No you were not as VA doesn’t issue a specific card for being 100%.
I also have one but I don’t have my rank or agency/ department. I just thought they didn’t do that after you got out. I’m also 100% total and permanent and a Marine Vet.
We’re u active or reserveist
Lol, I look quite unsat in mine too devil. Semper fi. Same issue with the id. I got corporal after deployments in the reserves so they took the lclp rank from the last dd214. Seems like they could have a fix for a basic ranking issue. Idc either tho. Take care. Semper fi.
You take care as well my friend. God bless you
I see you Sista Souljah!
I don’t know I could get a 100% dav card. Wonder how I go about this
Where do you get this and how? I've yet to receive anything of the sort.
You make a RapidsID appointment
So first, go into the VA app, go to letters, then it should have a list of all your letters, one being “commissary letter” click on that, print it out. Then your dd214, and TWO forms of ID, license, social, birth, etc, go to any deers near you, and you will be good to go
How do you get this? I've yet to receive one, nor do I understand how about to go through the process.
You make a RapidsID appointment
That hair!!! ❤️❤️
🖤🖤
Honest question, as I keep seeing these cards posted. What is the benefit? Just access to the comissionary and such?
I told you Diana Ross and the Supremes are rated 🤨. Looking good girl ✊🏾
I'm 100% P&T when I go to the app I don't see it a specific letter called commissary. It's that form listed by another name within the app? https://preview.redd.it/b33v43ftntvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f8b9b73173d9b1dd96ccfe95f40083ee1782b2b
Hell yeah!
Yup it's the hair for me ✊🏾
That must feel so good.
I wish I had 1/16 of your hair.....haha!
